The only other choices are Muscat / Damniyat Islands or Musandam.
I have made many dives up into East Coast of the Musandam Peninsula, previously by liveaboard (Charlotte Anne), but I do not think they operate any more, or by fast boat organized through various east coast dive operations.
Weekend Dhow trips are popular, and hopefully soon I will be on one being organized purely for photographers through Atlantis Dive Centre. Unfortunately I am flying to the US for the next scheduled trip in April.
There are some very interesting dive sites around Musandam, and hopefully I can frequent a few to get to know them better. I have managed to find a couple of NUDIBRANCHS in the past, one of which I had not seen before, Chromodoris tinctoria, and a pair of mating Risbecia ghardaqana. although I am now pretty sure they are Risbecia pulchella
