STARFLEET UNIFORMS
INFO. ABOUT THE UNIFORM The uniform that the Starfleet officers wear aboard the Enterprise and in Starfleet Command is the official Starfleet uniform design. It is made out of cotton, it has lots of pockets in order for the person to store objects and it has the insignia on the shoulder showing that the uniform is of the Starfleet design. The uniform also shows the rank and the position of the crew member that is wearing the uniform.
RANK The uniform shows rank by the number of silver pips that person has on his or her collar. For example Jonathan Archer has 4 silver pips on his collar so his rank is captain while Hoshi Sato has only 1 silver pip on her collar so she has the rank of Ensign. In order for an officer to move up the ranks, the captain must place more gold pips on that officer's collar.

ADMIRAL SLEEVE RANK (1 LARGE AND 4 SMALL STRIPES) POSITIONS The uniform also shows the position of the officer by the color of the stripes on his or her uniform. For example, Jonathan Archer has a gold strip on his uniform so that means his position is command.
