Seven lay awake for some time curled up in a contented ball listening to Kathryn’s snores and mumbles in her sleep. Seven could also hear their new friend down stairs moving around and making soft squeaking sounds. By the sounds he was making he had decided to try the food they had left out for him.
Seven was more the curious as to where there apparently alive friend had come from, none of her routine scans on Voyager had spotted anything out of the ordinary and Seven wanted to find out who had brought the creature on board.
However that would mean having to leave Janeway alone and at the moment Seven did not wish to leave a warm Kathryn. Seven’s mind pondered over the problem as Kathryn turned in her arms placing her tussled head on Sevens shoulder, and wrapping her arms around Sevens waist. Seven watched in wonder as Captain Kathryn Janeway, renowned Captain and explorer slept on her shoulder curled up like a small child with a contented smile gracing her lips.
Seven of Nine would not have believed that in the few short years from being taken from the Borg collective that she would be so content in the presences of one lone human being. From millions of minds, to her own thoughts Seven was truly now an individual and yet the opinion and respect of this one small figure Seven held above all others. Seven was not sure when it happened or truthfully how it happened but she never felt alone, or even scared when Kathryn was near. Life had become interesting and new, and Seven wanted to experience it all with Kathryn.
“This holiday will be the start.” Contemplated Seven. “A beginning for the both of us, we may be a long way from the Federation, from Kathryn’s home, but we can make a home together on Voyager.”
A scratching sound and a slight bump every other second could be heard and as Seven looked their small furry friend hopped the last few steps and sat looking around the room. In one paw he had a biscuit and the little fellow sat on his hutches looking around the room. Seven remained quiet as the inquisitive creature studied his surrounding all the while nibbling on his treat. Frankie then stared at Seven for a long moment, as if making sure that there was no danger, before starting to investigate the bedroom. Soft sniffing sounds and what sounded to Seven like small mumbles came from the nosy creature. He soon found his way into the bathroom, after a few moments Seven was about to get up when Frankie reappeared and with one more look at the couple on the bed, disappeared back down the stairs.
“That was strange it was as if they where being studied.” Pondered Seven, looking down to see that throughout their little visitor’s visit Kathryn had remained deeply asleep.
Sleeping was not something Seven did; the good doctor had assured her that it was way past time to try out natural sleep then having to regenerating ever 48 hours. However after 20 years of simply plugging herself in, sleeping was not something Seven knew how to do. It looked simple…just close one’s eyes and wham sleep.
One hour later Seven stilled lay watching the twinkling stars above, Kathryn seemed to have stopped her snoring much to Seven relief. It was surprising that a sound she first thought was rather cute, could becoming so very annoying to listen too in such a short amount of time.
“Perhaps counting sheep would help.” An idea Naomi had suggested to Seven a few days ago, after which Seven requested the ships computer to show her what a sheep looked like. After reaching well over Two thousand, another hour had crawled by. “How anyone sleeps I have no idea.” Seven look down to a still contented Captain and noticed not for the first time how long Kathryn’s eyelashes were, and started to count the long strands.

The command staff of Voyager had spent the last 5 hours reviewing all their data and come up with nothing. One moment the onboard sensors had Captain Janeway and Seven situated on Holodeck Two, the next simply gone. The program had shut down after the energy storm had past.
“Doctor?” Chakotay look over at their doctor.
“No ill effects from the storm, no one has reported any problems, a few bumps and bruises, nothing serious.” Reported the doctor.
“We know that the Captain can survive without the ship, what about Seven?” This was from Torres.
“It is ideal for Seven to regenerate ever 72 to 96 hours. However a short time ago, with this sort of problem in mind. We installed a small solar power disc in Sevens prosthesis arm, as long as she is in an area with, sun or similar power source the energy cell will simple pull power from the environment, all Seven’s implants will be powered along with a little sleep Seven should be fine.”
“One less problem to worry about.” Chakotay was relieved at least together Captain Janeway and Seven had a good chance of surviving. “Where ever that me be.”
“Are they simply locked in the holodeck emitters?” Inquired Ensign Kim who was running out of ideas.
Torres looked up from her data pad. “ No, I have scanned everything, there are no Bio tracings that would indicate life signs. Even if they had been disintegrated there would be matter all over the holodeck. There are just no signs of anything abnormal on the holodeck or anywhere on Voyager.”
“Anything on our storm?” Chakotay needed answers and they were getting nowhere fast.
“Scanners detected the storm only a few seconds before it hit,” Tuvok responded, “It came and went in a matter of minutes. According to our readings it was a simple iron storm.”
“Iron storms do not run off with crew members. Any trace of a transporter?”
“Negative, none that we can detect.”
“Ensign Kim join Tuvok in Astrometrics. I want a inch by inch scan of the surrounding area for 2000 kilometres, also scan for habitable planets in the area.” Chakotay was not going to sit around waiting. “Perhaps this has happened to other travellers.”
“Lt Torres, take your engineering team back to the holodeck and start taking it apart.”
Chakotay walked around to stand behind the chair their Captain should have been seated. Looking across at some unhappy faces he said, “We need answers, and until we have some this ship is going nowhere. Go over all the reports and data scans again. Two people do not simply vanish… I want answers. ”

Seven hours later Seven slowly open her eyes a little bit confused as she tried to remember why there was no Cargo Bay Two around her. The stars had gone and in their place soft light clouds and the first beams of sunshine lit up the bedroom. “I slept.” Thought Seven, late of the Borg Collective.
A soft movement alerted her to another awakening.
“What time is it?” Asked a sleepy voice as one eye rolled up to look at Sevens face. Kathryn’s head protested loudly at the movement. “You only have yourself to blame Kate, one night on a vacation and you have to be carried to bed like a child.”
“0600 hours, you slept well Kathryn.” Seven slowly ran her hand through Kathryn's disorganized hair. Smoothing the soft strands into place. Watching as Kathryn’s eyes slowly closed and a soft loving smile appeared before they opened again.
Kathryn looked down at their entwined bodies and then into Sevens eyes. “Is this...” motioning down, “alright with you Seven?
“Very alright,” After a brief pause Seven looked very nervous as she moved down in the soft warm bed so that she was face to face with Kathryn.
Janeway remained very still, but wonder lit up her eyes as she watched the love of her life face her fears and reach out.
Seven slowly moved forward to run her palm along a soft cheek, so soft and smooth like velvet. Seven watched as Kathryn’s eyes closed in pleasure at her touch. Moving forward to bring their bodies together along their length Seven’s hand moved to a shapely hip guiding Janeway closer.
Kathryn’s eyes pop open at the bold and unexpected move on Sevens part. She had always thought that if anything was to become of their relationship that she would have to make all the moves, to guide Seven and teach her the wonders and pitfalls of romance, friendship and love. However from the look in Sevens eyes and the way her hand was tracing her hip perhaps her assumptions were way of base.
“ Kathryn….” Came a soft whisper as Seven’s hand found the base of her soft neck and slowly pulled their faces together. Another slow kiss, different from the ones shared hours ago downstairs by the fire began. This was more confident just as slow but one of exploration Seven seemed entranced with the kiss and just before Janeway felt she was about to past out from lack of oxygen Seven ended their first and hopefully not last passionate kiss on a bed no less.
“ Woo… “ Kathryn inhaled loudly sucking in the air around them and starring first at soft lips inches away, then into warm and amused eyes looking back at her. “ That was…. Woo.”
Seven smiled and with a hint of humour said. “Indeed, was it not a good morning kiss?”
An amused and soft chuckle came from Kathryn. “One of many to come I hope.” Watching Seven’s face as she nodded.
Kathryn gave a contented stretch not having slept so well in years hearing a few little pops as joints slipped back into place. Leaning over she gave Seven a quick kiss on soft lips. “ How about breakfast?” “Breakfast, let’s move slowly no need to rush, then perhaps a warm shower. For two?”
“Kathryn…” Seven suddenly pause seeming to listen. “Doe’s something not appear right?”
“Then again perhaps not.” Kathryn inwardly screamed.
Slowly making to a sitting position against Seven, Kathryn listened. Sounds of early mornings in the wild meet her ears. Bird songs the slight sounds of water fall in the distance, the mild wind ruffling the roof. The suns rays were slowing crawling around the room from the overhead window. All the normal sounds for the outdoors were present.
Then she noticed, the inborn feeling of the ship the slight sounds where not present even in the holo-deck they were there…but here.
Sending a concerned look over at Seven they both quickly left the soft confines of their nest.
“Computer…arch.” There was no response. No door way appeared.
“Captain Janeway to the Bridge.” Silence. “Holodeck to anyone?” Kathryn listened for a few moments a worried frown appearing as she reached for her boots that Seven had removed the night before. After a quick dash to the bathroom, all signs of her headache disappeared within the a few short moments.
Meanwhile Seven had made a move and was taking readings on her tricorder.
“Anything.” Kathryn asked as they both made for the short flight of stairs.
Seven paused at the bottom watching as Kathryn started towards their front door with a sure stride.
“It would appear that we are no longer on board Voyager.” Announced Seven.
“What!” Kathryn all but shouted as she turned back to look at Seven. Before walking back to learn over a shapely arm and study the data herself. “One little holiday that’s all I wanted, a picnic a few quiet nights with just the two of us, was that to much to ask? Oh no nothing normal we have to be kidnapped in our sleep.”
“I cannot detect anything other then what appears to be a real living environment around this cabin. Captain.” Seven was at a loss to explain.
“Any life signs beside us, and…” Kathryn quickly eyed their cabin. “Frankie?” Frankie had settled down and appeared to be asleep on a soft chair.
After a few moments pause, “ Besides us Captain, there are numerous life forms, varying in size but nothing that shows a town, or city, no technology can be detected. I am at a loss how we appear to be hear Captain.”
“That makes two of us Seven.” Kathryn walked over to a small cupboard hidden in the wall and opens it to revel another tricorder, medical kit, and two hand and two long-range phases. The cabin although taken form a holo-program was a replica of a really live in building and those had modern 24th century mod-cons one being a weapons locker.
“Environment?” Question Kathryn. “Things were going so well, a kiss here a snuggle there.” Janeway picked up the two hand phasers and the other tricorder. “At least where not complete unarmed or helpless.”
“The cabin and content’s appears to be the only items to move with us. The cabin and items now appear to be real and no longer made up of light and matter particles we are in a solid structure.” Seven paused.
“ I am also detecting mountain ranges about 1 mile to the north of the cabin, a light forest surrounds the area we are in, beyond that streams, bushes, planets, animals, and by the temperature it is perhaps Earth Autumn as the temperature is about 60 degrees. However the reading are not reliable Captain, there are iron particles and something not recognized in the atmosphere that is distorting my readings.” Reported Seven.
“Well you have to give the holodeck or our movers some praise, at least everything in this cabin has travelled with us.” Janeway handed Seven a phaser.
“I doubt that someone wishing us harm would leave us weapons.” Pointed out Seven as she set her phaser to stun.
“Well lets see what we fined, staying in here is not going to solve anything.” Collecting a couple of warm and self-heating body suits they were set.
“Janeway to Voyager” Kathryn suddenly asked into the air.
Kathryn noticed as Seven raised a shapely eyebrow. “It was a vain hope.”
Kathryn walked back to their front door and opened it to be greeted by a cold breeze and the call of a living-breathing planet. Frankie who had appeared to be sound asleep rushed past them and disappeared within seconds into the long grass. Birds flew overhead in a rainbow of colour, leafs from the surrounding forest drifted over the grass Seven stepped around the stunned captain taking readings as she went.
“Kathryn were not on Voyager anymore” Janeway watched as Seven stepped onto the path and slowly followed.
To be continued…
