Welcome to the
brand spanking new home of the hot new Visual Basic computer game, Galactic
Command. This game started development
early last winter with Crusin giving me a copy of Visual Studio 6: Enterprise
Edition (thanks again, buddy). I have
been learning the intricacies of Visual Basic 6 for almost a year now. My first program was called David’s
WorkSuite 2001, a collection of different simple utilities for businesses. I may put this up in the downloads section
soon. It has a lot of bugs and
problems with it which I will try to sort out in the coming weeks. Well, enough about that…
Galactic Command is
a free 2-D free-time based strategy and combat game set in the Movie Era of the
Star Trek universe. You get to command
one of many starships like the Miranda Class destroyer and the Yamato Class
battlecruiser, all with different abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Check out the ‘About the Game’ page very
soon once it’s online for the full run-down of my colossal new game.
As for the progress
of the game itself, it is still early in the production stage. I am still adding all the features and
functions into the game and Uncle Sam needs YOU! That’s right! I am currently
in the search for graphics of all Trekky sorts. Planets, phenomenon, symbols, Movie era starships, and most off
all at the moment images of different Star Trek devices, cannon or not.
I will also be making the early source code available to a select
few (and I mean “select” few) so they can assess my programming and maybe put
some ideas in of their own.
That’s all the news
for now… stay tuned!
