July 29, 2005 - The Brave and the Bold Website would like to extend happy birthday wishes to veteran actor David Warner!
In addition to his role as Chancellor Gorkon (the namesake for Captain Klag's ship in the I.K.S. Gorkon series) in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, David Warner also had a supporting role as Saint John Talbot in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and guest starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation 'Chain of Command, Parts One & Two'. - In other news, Marco Palmieri announced yesterday that Star Trek - Tales From the Captain's Table edited by Keith R.A. DeCandido is going back to press. The first printing has sold out, and it is going back for a second. Congratulations to all involved with that anthology!

Star Trek Paperbacks To Be Scaled Back
http://www.trektoday.com/news/220205_01.shtml Beginning in June, Pocket Books will publish one mass-market Star Trek title rather than two each month. Editor Marco Palmieri posted this news yesterday at the Psi Phi Star Trek bulletin board, saying, "We've been discussing such a change internally for over a year. Our feeling is that we can do a better job, both editorially and sales-wise, by putting greater energy and effort into fewer and more carefully chosen projects, making the line leaner, meaner, and stronger." He stated that the "respite" from Star Trek films and television shows reinforces the strategy. In comments at the Trek BBS, several writers for Pocket Books stressed that they expected no reduction in trade paperbacks, including the Strange New Worlds contest for fan writers. "I see it more as a streamlining," wrote Christopher Bennett. "There's no end in sight for Trek publishing." He noted that many fans had said they don't have time to read all the current series. In comments at Psi Phi, Palmieri noted that some of the books series in the pipeline might take longer to be released than originally planned. He said that readers would have to be patient. In his LiveJournal, Star Trek: S.C.E. editor Keith R.A. DeCandido said he felt that cutting back the mass market paperbacks was a good move, "as it allows the editorial staff to focus more and make each individual book stronger." However, he lamented that there would be fewer spots in the line for individual writers to publish. The original item may be found at the Psi Phi Star Trek BBS.

August 9, 2004 - Been awhile since this place has been updated, sorry about that. So, time to play a bit of catch up... - First off, Star Trek: Tales of the Dominion War is now available. I had to go hunting for it last night, but I did wind up getting a copy for myself. There are two reasons why this is a big deal relating to an I.K.S. GORKON website; first, it's edited by Keith R.A. DeCandido, the author behind the GORKON series and second, it has 'A Song Well Sung', a Klag story written by Robert Greenberger. - Second, this anthology has been getting reviewed all over the place, including TrekWeb, Wigglefish, and by Jackie Bundy over at Trek Nation. To check out the reviews - http://trekweb.com/articles/2004/07/06/40eac24b178c3.shtml http://www.wigglefish.com/stories/0001_0018_0001.cfm?id=1695 http://www.treknation.com/reviews/books/talesdominionwar.shtml - Finally, David Henderson's PsiPhi website has the text free cover art for the third novel of the I.K.S. GORKON series, Enemy Territory. To check that one out - http://www.psiphi.org/cgi/upc-db/X000000225.html - And, on last thing, the cover art for both Star Trek - Tales of the Dominion War and I.K.S. GORKON - Enemy Territory have been added to the I.K.S. GORKON Book Covers page.
March 21, 2004 - I've changed the background for the What's Old? Past News and Site Updates. I tried to change the backgrounds to rotate, since I finally got it to work properly at the Deep Space Nine Avatar Website. But, it's still not working at this site.
March 7, 2004 - The Brave and the Bold is now listed on the Fan Associations Page at Chix Linx. The Deep Space Nine Avatar Website is also listed on the Specific Characters & Series page at Chix Linx. - The updates made prior to the beginning of 2004 have been moved to the What's Old? Past News & Site's Updates.
March 6, 2004 - I've submitted this site to be a part of the Tholian Web Ring.
February 19, 2004 - A few weeks ago, StarTrek.com hosted a chat with Keith R.A. DeCandido. From that chat: Host: Keith, I was told you have an announcement to make...? KDeC: I recently got the okay to do another anthology, which is tentatively scheduled for summer 2005 called "Tales From the Captain's Table." Some of you may recall the "Captain's Table" miniseries from 1998. However, there've been a bunch of captains added to the Trek lexicon since then. "Tales" will feature stories told by assorted captains, among them Jonathan Archer, Demora Sulu, Chakotay, Elizabeth Shelby, David Gold, William T. Riker, and yes, Klag. Also Kira Nerys. And we'll get a Stargazer-era Picard story as well. Gold is the captain of the U.S.S. da Vinci in the "Star Trek: S.C.E. eBooks." Once the proposals are all approved, I'll be announcing the author list, but suffice it to say that there are some good familiar names there, as well as a newcomer or two.
