Thailand, March 2003. The triumphant return to Thailand before finally heading home...
Cambodia, March 2003 Border crossing at Laos, fast boast down the Mekong, Phnom Penh (S21, The Killing Fields)and Angkor Wat.
Laos, February 2003 The Mekong river to Luang Pradang. Vang Vieng (kayaking and machine guns!) and Vientane. South Laos with 4000 islands, a coach crash and the rare Irrawaddy dolphins. MOST EXCITING... rafting down the biggest rapids in S.E.Asia on the Mekong!! The first paying customers to make it down... aren't we the coolest, eh?!
Thailand, January/February 2003 Beautiful Marine parks of Koh Turatao, Koh Lipeh, Koh Lanta and the infamous Koh Phi Phi (home of "The Beach"). The life of an expat in Bangkok and the ancient city of "Ayutthaya". Also Elephant trekking in Chiang Mai and the local hilltribes from Burma.<
Malaysia, January 2003 Kuala Lumpur, trekking in the Cameron Highlands and Thaipusaum in Pulau Penang.
Singapore, January 2003 Asia begins in Singapore.
January 2003!! Sydney. What else can we say. Home to the "Harbour Bridge" and the "Opera House". A town of many fireworks on the 31st December. A cracking time for all! And the place we sold "Toby", our home for the last 6 months...
December '02 The Nullabor. Means "treeless" but it really means "this is a dull drive!" Finally made it to Nic and Newcastle, the east coast and the hills including the infamous Nimbin, then up to Byron Bay for Xmas WITH friends.
November '02 We took Exmouth by storm, dived a lot, then headed further south into the cool climes below the "37th Parallel"! It's lovely down here. There are trees, and grass, and they're green! Perth was great ... thanks for putting us up Rocky! Then there was the "Blues festival", followed by deep/wreck diving and the wine festival. Hiccup! Haven't touched a drop... honest.
October '02 We've arrived on the west coast! The trip across the "Topend" from Darwin to Broome. Douglas hot springs, Keep River national park, the Bungle-bungles, Derby and the WEST COAST!
September '02 trips through Katherine Gorge (walking through raging bushfires!), Kakadu (Kakadon't), Litchfield (mad gunmen!), Berry Springs and Darwin (a new start for Toby...).
August '02 Driving the "Outback". The Imminent Arrival of Carl's 30th year. GULP!
July '02 Anna's arrival in OZ! Cairns, Diving the Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. Anna learns to love the forest and it's animals...
June '02 Farm work with the Fighting Irish in Innisfail (Banana capital of Queensland).
May '02 Arrival in Cairns... the boys split and Carl gets bored and drunk drunk.
"Carl's Rant!" - topics range from Ozzie roads to dodgy Ozzie weather.
