Major
Lynx
Beat
Valleyfield
to
Move onto Championship Game
Last
night the Major Lynx beat Valleyfield 2 - 1, at the Major
Provincial Tournament taking place in Valleyfield, to move onto the
championship game. Jared Worall gave the
Major
Lynx an outstanding pitching performance as Jared pitched a
complete game two-hitter. In the first inning, Jared also drove in
the only two runs scored by the NDG Lynx team.
The
Valleyfield starting pitcher was equally as effective for his team
by limiting the Lynx batters to only three hits in the game.
The
championship game will be held in Valleyfield on Saturday July 30th
at 10h00 at Park
Sauvé. Go on out and cheer on this fabulous team led by some
of NDG's most valued coaches. The winner of the championship game
would head off to the Canadian Nationals in Timmins, Ontario.

Major
Provincials - Valleyfield
Major
Lynx 2-0
by
Glyne Phillips
The
Major Lynx are now 2
– 0 in the Provincial Championships being held at Parc Sauve in
Valleyfield. In a convincing 11 – 3 win over Hemmingford on
Saturday, the Lynx showed off their skills with solid defense,
excellent pitching, and an exciting and opportunistic offense.
In
their second game against St Lazare on Sunday, the Lynx faced a
much more challenging opponent. An early 2 – 0 lead was erased in
the bottom of the third, when St Lazare scored 6 runs. However, in
the top of the fourth, the Lynx showed their courage and
determination, knocking across 4 runs to tie the score at 6.
Another St Lazare run in the bottom of the fourth was quickly
eclipsed by 2 more NDG runs in the top of the fifth, making the
score 8 – 7 for NDG.
Zachary
Aaron, who came in to pitch for NDG in the third, shut down St
Lazare the rest of the way, finishing the game with the winning run
left on first base. An outstanding performance by Zach in a very
tough situation.
It
was certainly an exciting and nail biting contest, and all the NDG
players should be congratulated for their performance and their
spirit throughout the game, and throughout the weekend.
Our
next game is on Tuesday July 26th at 6:30pm at Parc
Sauve in Valleyfield, against Valleyfield, who are also 2 – 0 in
the tournament.
It
would be great to have as many NDG fans at the game as possible to
cheer our boys on.
