The Championship Team, Indian River Braves "Philadelphia
NY", with the tournament trophy along with tournament
Finalists the NDG Junior Lynx
The
2nd annual Rob & Steve Michelin Tournament came to a close tonight. It
ended with an entertaining ball game with Indian River (Philadelphia NY)
going up against our beloved Junior Lynx's in the Finals. NDG took a 2 -0
lead in the second inning only to have Indian River come back to tie it up
in the fourth inning.
Indian
River then went on to get another run in the 5th inning and held off the
Junior Lynx with some deftly good pitching including their last pitcher
who over the last two innings showed off an awesome slider. The game ended
with Indian River winning the match 3-2 to become the 2005 Champions of
the Rob & Steve Michelin Tournament. Congratulations to Indian River,
you played some exciting baseball, it was a real treat.
The
tournament MVP chosen by our tournament committee was
#
24 Jerry Coleman of the Indian River Braves. Congratulations on an
impressive tournament performance.
I
would like to thank all the teams (Brossard, Gloucester, NDG Lynx, NDG
Lions, Pinecrest, and Philadelphia) for being accommodating with all the
changes that I made due to the changing park conditions.
Thanks
also to the Association de Baseball de Verdun and Serge Turcotte for
allowing NDG to use your field on Saturday to continue the tournament.
Without your generosity, the tournament would of been cancelled.
Thanks
to all the volunteers whom without their help, the tournament would not of
been possible, especially: Celine Massy, Greg Pernell, Terry Doucet,
Lionel Geller, Dr. Paul Stephenson, Jim Mavrokefalos, Debbie Book, Fred
Friedberg, & Katherine Gall.
Thanks
to David Goldberg for the donation of the tournament medals.
Special
thanks to Frank Tottle (Umpire Admin), Ricky, Nick, Sammy, Mitch,
& Charlie. I know you are all paid for your services but with all my
park & time changes, I really made your weekend an unexpected
adventure and I appreciated your ability to be flexible.
Great
Job Everyone!!!
