The
Junior
Lynx
Lose
Last Two Games to Valleyfield:
Valleyfield
Off to Nationals in Glace Bay, NS
The
Junior Lynx had already beaten Valleyfield once during the double
knock-out tournament and that meant Valleyfield had to beat the
Junior Lynx twice, on the same day, in order to move onto the
Nationals. In the first game, the Junior Lynx pitcher Ian Einheiber,
pitched a masterful game holding the Valleyfield team to one run
through seven innings. In the eight inning, the first extra inning
of the game, Valleyfield scored their second run with a drawn-in
infield to take the lead and went on to hold on for the win. |
The Junior Lynx were actually the team putting on most
of the offensive pressure during this match but were
unable to cash in on a run. In the fourth inning, they
had the bases loaded with one out, and couldn't get a
run home and in the fifth inning runners on second and
third with one out couldn't score a run. In all, the
Lynx left eleven men on-base during the match.

In
the second game, Valleyfield came out swinging early as they scored
three runs in the first inning to take a lead they would never
relinquish. The game ended 6 - 2 with Valleyfield being crowned
Junior Provincial Champions.
The
players of the Junior Lynx should be very proud of their
performance during this past season. Noted outstanding performances
this past year included: Ian Einheiber's hitting streak where he
went eleven-for-eleven including a grand-slam home-run; Daniel Kost-Stephenson's
pitching performance against the Ottawa U13 All-Stars, holding the
offensive power-house team to just three runs; the smooth-handed
shortstop finesse of Jack Melkerson who put on a clinic with
regards to fielding his position; and last but not least Ian
Einheiber's pitching performance against Valleyfield during the
Junior Provincials.
