Stargazer
NCC-2893 Constellation Class Cruiser
History: In service by 2333.
Abandoned in 2355.
Recovered (and presumably decommissioned) in 2364.
Captain Picard served on the U.S.S. Stargazer from 2333 to 2355.
Jack Crusher, the husband of Doctor Beverly Crusher was killed on duty in 2354.
Stardate 41,255.6
After a Ferengi conference on the Enterprise, a starship is discovered floating in space, uncrewed and apparently abandened. On a closer look Picard sees that it is the Stargazer, the first ship that he served on and one which was lost in an incident with the Ferengi. To the Ferengi Daimon Bok however, this was not an incident, but the battle of Maxia in which he lost his son. All these years, Bok has been nurturing hatred and thoughts of revenge and now he has what he believes to be the perfect tool to bring that about.

Bok tells Picard that he is returning the Stargazer to the Federation as a simple act of goodwill. In the haste to abandon the ship during the "battle" Picard has left many of his belongings on board and now Bok invites him to return to the ship and retrieve them. Bok has planted a mind-altering device in Picards trunk. The device is capable of putting Picard back in the Stargazer during the "battle" and experiencing it the way that Bok is convinced that it happened.

Bok creates new Stargazer logs to reflect that the Stargazer fired on an innocent Ferengi vessal and is therefore guilty of war crimes. No one on the Enterprise believe any of this for a moment and use the technology at their disposal to prove that Daiman Bok is setting up a scam.

Although in all fairness, Bok is deeply wounded by the loss of his son, and vengeange is not unknown to any species in the galaxy.

Not too surpriseingly it is Wesley who discovers patterns in Captain Picard's brain scan that match the low intensity transmissions being picked up by the Ferengi ship. This leads Riker to the device but at this point Picard has beamed over to the Stargazer and is reliving the fight one more time. This time, however, Picard thinks the enemy is the Enterprise. He ultimately tries to perform his famous "Picard Maneuver" with which he had won the battle of Maxia.

Data devises a strategy to seize the Stargazer with the Enterprise's tractor beam. Picard fighting the effects of the device, obeys Rikers command to use his phaser to destroy the it. Boks first officer takes him into custody because he has done all of this to exact revenge and not to exact a profit. Earlier he offered to give the Stargazer to the Federation. I would have thought that at time time the first officer would have noticed something strange going on.

The USS Stargazer NCC-2893 was thought to have been destroyed at Maxia Zeta, but it was salvaged by the Ferengi. Captain Picard was courtmartialed for losing the ship, but he was absolved of all charges.

Data
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Species: Android
Built: 2336 on Omicron Theta
Entered Starfleet Academy: 2341
Assignment: Second Officer
USS Enterprise - NCC-1701-D

Service Record Summary

Served aboard USS Trieste.
Decorated by Starfleet Command for gallantry, received the Medal of Honor with clusters, the Legion of Honor, and the Star Cross.
2363 - Became second officer on board the Enterprise-D.
2368 - Assigned temporary command of Starship Sutherland during the Federation blockade of the Klingon Border.
He was created by Dr. Noonian Soong on Omicron Theta IV. He came to the attention of the Federation when they answered a distress call from that doomed colony after they were attacked by the crystalline entity. Data was the only survivor and he was taken aboard the USS Tripoli. Attending the Starfleet Academy he took the Turing Test and was declared, on the basis of the results, to be a sentient being.
The Turing Test was first formulated in the 1940's by Alan Turing at a time when the viability of AI's was being hotly debated. His response was that he would put a computer in one room and a human in another, and not knowing which was which, ask them both questions. If he could not tell which room held the computer and which the human then the computer would pass the test. Data has a cat named Spot to whom he has been known to write poetry. He likes Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes and playing poker with the guys. One of the best episodes was when the astrophyicist Stephen Hawking was a guest, and in his role he played poker on the holodeck with Data, Einstein and Newton. He won of course. Hawkin was responsible for a lot of the numbers you heard tossed around the bridge concerning cosmic strings, the velocity needed to escape an event horizon and so forth.

Commander Riker
Rank: Commander
Current assignment: First officer, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E
Date of birth: August 19, 2335
Place of birth: Valdez, Alaska, Earth
Parents: Kyle and Betty C. Riker
Education: Starfleet Academy, 2353-57, graduated eighth in class.
Marital status: Single
Children: none
Quarters: formerly, Enterprise: Room 0912, first Deck 8, then Deck 9

Commander William T. Riker has had a distinguished career in Starfleet, and had already been offered on numerous occasions a command of his own. But his former aspiritions of having the shortest time of reaching the rank of Captaincy have been squashed to the bottom of his priority list while serving on the Enterprise.
Apparently he had become too fond of the ship and its crew to care about breaking Kirk's old record. The crew have certainly become fond of him as well, especially the female side of it. Riker saved Earth from the Borg in the year 2366, after taking command when Picard was kidnapped. He also met his own double 8 years after a freak transporter accident. Riker enjoys poker, jazz music, and physical activities. The latter with the exception of Worf's training excercises.

Worf
Worf, son of Mogh, was born on Qo'noS, the Klingon homeworld, in 2340. He lived there until his parents moved to Khitomer in 2346. Both of Worf's parents died in the Khitomer Massacre, an attack by the Romulans. He was adopted by Sergey and Helena Rozhenko, and was raised on Gault with his brother Kurn, and his foster brother Nikolai.
Worf was the first Klingon to join Starfleet. He served aboard the Enterprise-D at conn. When the security chief, Tasha Yar, was killed in an away mission, he was promoted as her successor.
Worf had an affair with Ambassadork'Ehleyr and together they had a son, Alexander. She raised the boy herself not telling Worf that he was a father until she was sent to the Enterprise on a mission. When she was killed during the mission, Worf sent Alexander to live with the Rozenko's believing them to be more capable of raising a child.
They, however, grew older and realizing they could not do so, returning Alexander to Worf.
Worf was transferred to the Deep Space Nine station.
He courted and married the magnificant Jadzia Dax who was killed on an away mission.

LaForge's father, Dr. Edward LaForge, is a Starfleet exobiologist. His mother, Captain Silva LaForge, is commanding officer of the U.S.S. Hera NCC-62006. LaForge was born blind. At the age of five he was caught in a fire. Soon after that incident, he received a prosthetic device called a V.I.S.O.R. which sends visual signals directly to his brain. In 2371 he received electronic ocular implants and discontinued use of the V.I.S.O.R. The implants provide the same function as the V.I.S.O.R., while giving him a more "normal" appearance, with less pain. Due to both of his parents being in Starfleet, he moved around a lot while growing up. He has a strong ability with languages because of this. In 2370, the U.S.S. Hera and his mother were declared lost.

In the episode, A Fistfull of Datas Troi got to act out her fasination with the old American west. As a child her father would read western stories to her and sing, Down in the Valley among other western songs.
