Biography
Even though he was born in New York on Earth, he grew up the oldest of three boys in the suburbs of New Haven, CT, where his parents worked as Professors at Yale. He was motivated to join Starfleet after hearing about his uncle's death in the Setlek 3 massacre. His close friends never mentioned the Cardassians, for they didn't wish to hear him express his profound hatred of the race. At Starfleet Academy, he excelled in many subjects. Although he studied to be a command officer, he took both engineering and medical extension courses to broaden his horizons. Besides being a 20th and 21st century history buff, he is also a Level 4 pilot. During the Academy graduation ceremony, he was injured in a shuttle accident and lapsed into a coma for two years. Recently revived, he hopes to put his talents to use.
Update: 2378
Joining the Avalon for his first assignment as Small Craft Pilot, Seresin quickly proved his piloting skills by crashing the Avalon on his first go at the helm. However, he was able to bring the ship back into orbit, and from then on his record was exemplerly. Not long after he joined the Avalon crew, he was offered a transfer to the brand-new USS Liberty as Chief CONN Officer under then-Captain Decade. This transfer came with a promotion, to Lt. (j.g.). Over the course of the next 6 months, he proved to be an outstanding and dedicated officer. Promoted twice, he now holds the rank of Lt. Commander. The Liberty has come to be his home, and he does not see himself leaving it anytime soon. Although most of his early alcohol problems are behind, he occasionally has one too many and winds up in sickbay.
