And So It Begins…
Episode # 23

Cmdr. Carroll, the Liberty’s new Chief Ops Officer came aboard the Liberty, greeted by tr’Lennex and Kestra. Upon his arrival, he was given quarters and asked to see Capt. Decade immediately, as he had a new mission for the Liberty. After reporting to Decade the mission, the course was laid in and the Liberty made its was to a rendezvous point.

Shortly after the ship beginning its journey, Ace briefed the Senior Staff of the mission. They were on there way to rendezvous with a Klingon battle cruiser and a Romulan war bird, with orders to seek out covertly a possible Breen base and ship build up, suspected to be prepared to invade the Federation. The briefing was not uneventful, as Stealth (aka Cmdr. Carroll) and Bannister clashed over who knew more about the Romulans.

Up until the rendezvous, the different crewmembers go through mostly personal moments. Ace meets and greets an ensign, Stealth and Bannister attempt to calm the tides between them, Stealth and Millar begin the basis of friendship by seeing who can drink who under the table, and there are a few romantic encounters as well, plus a few crewmembers actually do some work!

With just about 5 hours until the rendezvous, an early arriving Liberty encounters a Breen scout ship. Before they can make any actions, what appears to be a Romulan war bird decloaks behind the Breen ship and destroys it. Needless to say, Ace is not happy about this. He invites the senior officers of the Romulan ship to dine aboard the Liberty, and the offer is accepted.

The dinner goes off without any problems, until the Klingons show up, feeling insulted and being a bit suspicious. They join the crews for dinner, and it is found that the wine the Romulans brought is poisoned. A fire fight ensues between the Klingons and Romulans, with the Liberty officers being unconscious. While the Liberty crew that wasn’t at the dinner attempts to get into the dining area, Stealth recovers slightly from the poison, enough to subdue one of the Romulans and assist the Klingons in the fight. Once free from the dining room, the Liberty officers are taken to sickbay for treatment, and Stealth notifies the crew that the Romulans weren’t Romulans, but rather the more vicious Remans.

The plot thickens when a small fleet of ships decloak. All is made well, but something doesn’t seem right. Through investigation by the crew, especially Bannister, Millar, Hawkins, and Stealth, a plot is brought to light, with the Romulans and/or Remans being in league with the Breen. Seresin finds out that a bomb is in the remains of the destroyed Breen vessel, and brings that information to light.

When the Liberty tries to force the hand of the guilty party, a fight ensues that none were ready for. The Romulan ship enters the wreckage, and the bomb explodes doing substantial damage to both the Romulan and Klingon ships, and shaking up the Liberty. All three ships begin repairs, but personnel on the Liberty are not convinced that the bomb exploding as it did was an accident.

All is made mute when a Reman attack fleet shows up to engage the three vessels. They are cloaked, and slowly surrounding the Liberty and other vessels, and believe they are not detected. The Liberty makes a preemptive attack, firing on and destroying tow Reman vessels. The Klingons fire on a third vessel, destroying it. The battle proceeds. As the three allied ships seem to have the tide turning in there favor, a Breen strike force enters the system. All seems lost, as the allies are badly hurt, and don’t look to have much of a chance.

One light seems to shine however, as Stealth suggests the use of transphasic torpedoes, which he knows how to make, Ace gives him permission, and so Stealth makes his way to build the lethal weapons. Time is of the essence, but Stealth needs time to build the weapons. Builtier decides that he knows how to buy Stealth more time, and takes a shuttle out to engage the enemy.

Just as it looks all is lost, Stealth finishes the torpedoes, and the Liberty drops the hammer and unleashes some indiscriminate justice to the Breen and Remans. Once the threat is eliminated, the allies go there separate ways. The crew of the Liberty celebrates the great victory, with a grand party in Cmdr. Carroll’s quarters that sees Millar and Stealth get really drunk and them start a nice round or two of karaoke.
