Playing God
Episode #3

Starfleet Orders the Liberty to travel to Valentina, a Planet near the Romulan Neutral Zone. The Planet's orbit is being altered by a black hole that has appeared near the planet's Sun. Due to the gravometrical forces exerted by the hole, the planet is being drawn near. Starfleet informs Decade, Gorath, and Connelly that the Planets population has not achieved warp drive, and therefore cannot be interfered with the prime directive. Yet, since the population is over 4 Billion, Captain Decade is given the choice whether or not to help the people in need.

Connelly wishes to obey the prime directive, however the Captain and the rest of the crew decide to try and aid the people. When they reach Valentina they find they only have 40 hours to either stop the worm hole or rescue the population. Buitlier tries to alter a torpedo into making it close the wormhole, however this proves fatal. Connelly analyzes the population's evancement and sees that one day they will achieve warp, but at the moment they are about two centuries away from it.

However, after the crew debates on the course of action, they decide to try and save as many people as possible. It was originally supposed to be a random beam out of women and children. But, the governer of the Valentina requested he, and his people be beamed out instead of the regular population. Ace does not agree with this, while Connelly does. The debate became drawn out and time was running short.

Due to the problems with the Crew(I.E. Connelly insisting that we not interfere) all that could be done was save seven percent of the population in an emergency beam out. Connelly was then ordered off the ship, after ordering ensigns to shoot any of the survivors that protested. He left shortly after, going to a sewage transport ship where he worked as a janitor.
