She likes to think she’s strong, independent, and unafraid of all that the universe has to offer. She considers herself worldly-wise and street smart, she’s not exactly naïve of the hardship life can dish out. She celebrates the good times and remembers, picks herself up from the bad and learns.
He knows he’s strong, relying only on himself and treading cautiously throughout the universe, focusing on his survival. Survival has guided his entire adult life, since he was forced to grow up after the annihilation of his pride by its enemies. All the decisions he makes are based upon a determination to rebuild that pride, decisions such as the ones that he made that brought him into her life.
Their lives have been turned upside down since the moment they met. All she thought she was is no more. In his arms she becomes a fragile being seeking shelter from the storm. He finds her survival of equal importance to his and he teaches her all he knows to ensure that survival. Daily they fight side by side for the future, learning from their combined pasts. And at night they love each other, as they have never known love before.
