Well...We all know it's just about impossible to photograph birds, whether they are wild or tame. But I gave it my best shot!!! LOL

I named this bird Insane for a very good reason!! (Notice his upside down stuffed Tweetybird that he sleeps on nightly!) I got him when he was only 2 weeks old, and hand fed him just like a mom bird would. Every few hours, I would get up and mix the "baby" food for him. He was smart enough to realize the sound of running water meant his food was on the way. Even long after I weaned him, still to this day, running water makes him go nuts wanting his baby food!!! If I dare to leave the room, he screeches. If he hears me yawn as I wake up in the morning, he pitches a fit till I come see him. His favorite pasttime is sitting on my head while I'm at the computer, and plucking all those gray hairs from my head.......ROFL.........if only the grays. Even now, if he hears my voice in the house, anywhere other than where HE thinks I should be, right here next to him, he throws a fit. But I would have to say his favorite thing to bug the heck out of me, is yanking on my earrings and necklaces. Problem is, if I remove those, it's right back to plucking gray hairs......oh well, I truly enjoy his antics, feels like I have a 2 year old child of my own.
Sadly, about 6 months after I moved to my new home, I woke up one day, to fine Insane had died overnight. I could find no reason for it. He wasn't underweight, had plenty of food, water. Cockateils on a good diet can live an average of 20-25 years, yet he was only about 5 years old. I worked for a few years in a small Zoo, Pet Shop, Aviary. The Aviary part of the business, we raised finches, parakeets, macaws, cockatoos, cockatiels, and many, many more birds. I learned so much about the more exotic birds we took soon after hatching and hand fed them, so that they became hand fed pets. This is how I aquired Insane at the age of 2 weeks. I had had cockatiels in the past, and never had trouble in the past. Possibly a congential defect? I'll never know. I really miss his antics, many times I burst into laughter at the things he did. But since I live on Social Security Disablity, even a common Grey Hand Raised Cockatiel can cost $65-$75, I don't see where I'll be able to get one again. But I have fond memories of the laughter he brought me.
