OK, I've tried several times to get better pictures of these "flighty" birds. But since
all of my friends want to see my pets, no matter what, I'll just have to be satisfied with these for now. Boy, my photographer Father would be horrified!
What can I say, I'm an amateur Trekker. I bought these 2 parakeets when they were very young, and thought that Riker and Troi would be perfect. But as "Troi" matured, the cere, that small area above the beak darkened, indicating she was a HE!! So they are now called Picard and Riker. Since they were raised together since quite young, they don't fight like so many other birds of the same sexes do. In fact I get quite a giggle watching them. Observe sometime, 2 parakeets sitting on a branch together. They act and talk like 2 little old ladies gossiping the day away. "Oh Mildred, did you hear what Eunice did last night?" LOLOL P.S. I'll try to get better pictures of them soon. Seems they don't like having a camera stuck inside their cage. hee hee.
OK!! Here is my famous Killer Finch everyone has been laughing about. Not much of a picture, I'll admit. But would YOU get too close to a known finch killer?? LOL Actually they are very shy birds, very rare to see one that can be hand tamed.
When I got her 2 years ago, she seemed well bonded with her mate, had even started laying eggs. Then we came in one afternoon, and she had horribly killed him. I diagnosed Finch PMS....HAHAH. I've never gotten her another mate for this reason, but I've filled her cage with plenty of toys which she seems to enjoy quite well. She has even learned to "beep" back at me when I "beep" to her. So all in all, I think she is happy here, man or no man.
