Family
Background Born Aki Rozz in 2344, her parents had lived and worked for years on Earth. Her father Hein Rozz was a joined Trill and Ambassador for Trill on the Federation council, whilst her mother Jinax had remained unjoined and was a diplomatic aide. The two had grown close to each other during their stay on Earth and married in 2340. At the age of seven, she joined her family on a trip back to Trill aboard the USS Potemkin, where she was to undergo the assessment that all Trill when through at her age to test their suitability to be joined. Whilst aboard the USS Potemkin, she got to know the crew of the ship and even got a tour of the Bridge, being allowed to take the helm position whilst the vessel was in orbit around Betazed. The Potemkin was stationed above Betazed to pick up another passenger bound for Trill, a young boy named Chu Barker. Although a couple of years older than Aki, he too was returning to Trill for the assessment and the two children became good friends on the voyage to Trill and during the assessment period. Aki returned on the Potemkin with her parents back to Earth, whilst Chu remained on Trill to await a visit by his father's ship, which was scheduled to go to Betazed after leaving Trill. Both were accepted into the symbiosis training program. Although it was nearly fifteen years until the two met again in person, they had always kept in touch via sub-space. During the trip home, Aki expressed her desire to learn more about Starfleet and the vessel she was on. She was placed in the 'hands' of a Starfleet academy cadet, Benjamin Sisko who was aboard the Potemkin doing a field project on the vessels warp core. The three week round trip had been an ideal opportunity for Cadet Sisko, whilst awaiting the start of his second year at the Academy. He was to act as Aki's guide during the journey back to Earth. Aki never forgot that Cadet and followed his career, eventually meeting him again in 2372 when she visited Deep Space 9 whilst awaiting the USS Enterprise-E, which was undergoing final trials. Aki also never forgot that trip on the Potemkin and vowed to join Starfleet as soon as she could. However, her parents had other ideas and she was persuaded to go through the Trill symbiosis training first. Eventually she agreed and in 2364 she travelled back to Trill, where her childhood friend Chu Barker had already started the training course the previous year. The two spent most of their spare time together, until Chu left abruptly after the death of his mother in 2365. Aki continued alone, completing the training in 2367 just before the Borg attacked the Federation at Wolf 359. She graduated with Premier distinctions in astronavigation, diplomacy and piloting, as well as a forth level certificate in astrophysics. The attack by the Borg made Aki want more than ever to join Starfleet and she eventually returned to Earth and enrolled at Starfleet academy. Unlike most Trills who took a science-led career path, Aki went along a command path. Her years spent working around her parents and the Federation council helped her in her diplomatic courses and she graduated in 2371. Whilst at the academy, she continued to develop her piloting skills and upon graduating from the academy she joined a Peregrine squadron stationed at Starbase 173, spending a year leaning to fly the Peregrine fighter. After a year however, she requested a transfer and after spending six months on the newly launched Enterprise-E was assigned a junior helm officer aboard the USS Musushi with the rank of Lieutenant (Junior Grade). She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and the position of senior helm officer in 2375 after navigating the Musushi through an asteroid field at high speed, before being transferred again in 2376 to the USS Destiny as a junior command officer. In 2378 she joined the IKS kajanpak't as a helm officer for two months as part of the Starfleet officer exchange programme. She had spent nearly six months prior to the transfer learning Klingon. After her two months, she returned to the Destiny and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Command in 2379. In 2380 she was reassigned back to Starbase 375 to take up the position of executive officer for the 'Angry Angels' fighter squadron, the one she had previously served with after leaving the academy. The squadron had just received a fleet of the new Valkyrie fighter and its commanding officer was an old academy friend of Aki's. In 2382 after an accident whilst in combat,
Aki was seriously injured and returned to Trill to receive medical treatment.
Whilst she was on Trill, a Captain Siz Taybar came into the medical facility.
Unfortunately the Siz host did not survive and as the host was a command
officer, Aki was offered the symbiont, which was implanted in later 2382,
becoming the forth host of the Taybar symbiont. In mid-2384, an Admiral Devore recalled her to Earth and offered her the position of Captain of the USS Leviathan-A, the only Starfleet vessel powered by a quantum slipstream drive. The Leviathan was undergoing repairs after returning from the Andromeda-Cirrus galaxy and being in collision with an almost identical vessel to the Leviathan from an alternative universe. Although not wanting to leave her old squadron behind, she reluctantly accepted the position, only to discover that the Leviathan was to be taking onboard a squadron of Valkyrie fighters, headed by her old XO. The USS Hellcat that was under the command of Lieutenant Commander Chu Barker, her old friend, arrived on Earth a week later and took Aki to the Leviathan. She officially took up the position of Captain of the USS Leviathan-A on the 1st of August 2384. Personality Aki is a strong willed female Trill able to command with respect, something that she gained through being joined with the symbiont Taybar in 2382. Aki speaks a great deal of Klingon, something she learnt whilst preparing to serve aboard a Klingon vessel as part of the Starfleet officer exchange programme. She is also a great diplomat, her parents having both being involved in the Federation council and the diplomatic service. She enjoys life to the full, but in private she feels her weaknesses creeping up on her. She tries hard to hide her feelings, but has on occasion when under stress acted irrationally. She has been a lifelong friend of Lieutenant Commander Chu Barker since she was seven. Previous Hosts
