Acting Captains Log - Commander Rashad.

The repairs to the USS Leviathan are going well, the new warp nacelles should be arriving tomorrow and Taline estimates that it will take about a week to install them and another week to calibrate them. The hull is now fully airtight and the additional ablative armour and shield emitters are being fitted as I write this report.

The new Benamite crystal for the quantum slipstream drive arrived today, one of the few successes from our visit to the Andromeda-Cirrus galaxy. The natural Benamite that we were given by the Dalerians has proved to be of excellent grade and the new crystal was prepared within a month. To replicate a crystal of the same size would have taken nearly six months. However, progress with the slipstream drive is slow, mainly because there are so few engineers within Starfleet with the knowledge to work on the drive.

The Cardassian Dukal from the mirror universe seems to be both knowledgeable and pleasant. Everyone aboard he has worked with have had only praise for the way he his helping us. My own opinions are that he's still a Cardassian and although I have read all the Starfleet intelligence reports from the debriefing, I can't come terms with the Cardassians being enslaved without a fight.

He does seem to have made progress with modifying the Leviathan and it was his suggestion to install the additional shield emitter's on top of the extra ablative armour.

We have not heard from the USS Hellcat since they left to rendezvous with the Romulans. How I wish that I could have gone with them, but I realise that Admiral Devore was right. The mirror version of myself does make me feel uneasy and I have started to take steps to increase my self-control during the boredom of being 'stuck' sitting around until the repairs are completed.

Another three weeks and we should be ready to join the search.
Admiral Devore has sent me an update on his search for a new Captain and although I feel slightly upset that I was not given command, I understand Starfleet's reasons for wanting to put an experienced Captain in command at this time.

We are also expecting an additional science officer, a Vulcan named Talken. His credentials are interesting, studying at both the Vulcan Science academy and Starfleet. He has spent the last few years back on Vulcan, but now he's been assigned to the Leviathan.

He is scheduled to arrive a week before the repairs are due to be completed. One thing on his file however has 'peeked' my interest, he appears to have studied the ancient Vulcans, before the time of Sulak. Although I know a lot about the split within Vulcan society that lead to the exodus of the Vulcans who were to become my ancestors from a Romulan point of view, I have never heard of it from the Vulcan viewpoint.

End Log.

Commander Rashad shut down the console and sat back in the Captains chair. Staying aboard the Leviathan was not what she wanted to do, especially as she had to deal with the Cardassian Dukal from the mirror universe.

It took all her self-control to deal with Lieutenant Dukal without having to deal with a mirror version of him as well. She was dreading the return of the Hellcat, because then she would have two Cardassians to deal with, not to mention the mirror version of herself.
