Starfleet Command

USS Leviathan

Officer Logs (Major John Phanan)

September 11, 2384

USS EINSTEIN

  Marine Commander's Log Standard

"It appears that the war in the Briar Patch is over... for now. One thing I've learned over my past years in the Corps is that when a cease fire is called, it's usually just for the other guy to reload. For my sake, and that of my men and women onboard I hope that this case isn't so."

"I've had the opportunity over the past few weeks to conduct training with the Marine detachements from the USS Patton, and USS Omaha. One thing I didn't realize was that my "friend" from field training was the commander of the group on the Omaha. Captain Mike Kampel was the standard jackass hotshot at basic, and, to my surprise, they gave him a command. It was an... interesting... experience taking commands from him on his day as field commander. For his platoon's sake, I hope that he rethinks his strategies for their next entanglement because both I and Major Winters won't be around to bail him out next time."

"To my surprise when the Leviathan came to pick us up, Captain Devore wasn't present. Then, to my surprise, I find out that he was promoted to Admiral. Good to hear the son of a gun got promoted. The new CO, Aki Taybar, appears to be a very competent leader. I haven't had much face time with the new Captain, but Chu speaks very highly of her."

"One person that I'm glad to have onboard the ship is Ka'Leth. His Talon Squadron performed superbly in the joint operations between the Marines and Starfleet fighter pilots. I look forward to working with him again, and hopefully not always in combat circumstances."

End Log

Jon tapped the control panel ending the recording. The day was growing late, and he was do to go off duty in another ten minutes.

[Major Phanan, Lieutenant Trueman is here to see you sir.]

"Send him in," Jon replied to the Private working at the desk infront of Jon's office. The door opened, and Jack Trueman walked in with his usual non-chelant smile. "Gibbs, McDowell, and a few of the other NCOs and I were planning on heading up to the D.E.L. to toss back a few rounds. You interested sir?"

Jon grinned. The Days End Lounge was normally a haven for Starfleet personnel. It would look odd for a bunch of Marines wearing BDU's to be seen there. Of course, knowing Jack, he was always striving for attention. "Yeah, I think I'll knock a few back."

"Outstanding sir." Jack grinned, and the two made thier way out of the office.
