Lieutenant Commander Barker and the two advisors walked into the transporter room in their EVA suits. Already there was 1st Lieutenant Truman in his distinctive green Marine EVA suit, the only member of the group missing was Ensign Blair from Engineering.

"I hate these suits." Ensign Blair announced as he entered the transporter room.

"Are we ready ?" Chu asked, looking around the room.

They all nodded and one by one they lowered their visors, sealing themselves into their own personnel environment. Then stepping onto the transporter pads, they stood motionless.

"Keep a lock on us at all times." Chu announced to the transporter operator. "We don't want to have any injuries whilst were down there. Five to beam down."

The familiar sensation of being converted molecule by molecule into energy started to drift over them, until they re-materialised on the surface of the planetoid. They had been forced to transport to a site about a hundred metres from the ship itself, the ground around the ship appeared to have been unstable on the ships sensors.

"Barker to Leviathan." Chu announced. "We're down, proceeding towards the ship."

Chu switched on his helmet light and the others followed suit.

"Best let me go first sir." Truman suggested. "Just in case there's any booby traps or something."

"After you Lieutenant." Chu remarked, with a hidden smile.

Chu was well aware of the capabilities of the Marine's EVA suit, it had been designed to act as both an EVA suit and battle armour. Although it looked more bulky than the Starfleet issue EVA suits, in fact it was actually lighter and more manoeuvrable. The gesture that Truman had made though was untypical of a Marine and Chu realised that maybe the Major had told Truman to look after the 'Fleeters'. They walked for about fifty metres before Truman raised his hand to signal the others to stop.

"What is it Truman ?" Chu asked as he came up beside the Marine.

"I'm picking up an energy signal ahead." Truman announced.

"Why didn't we pick it up on our tricorders ?" Chu asked, passing his own tricorder over the area ahead of them.

"Too weak a signal." Truman replied. "But its there, its causing interference with the suit systems. Probably some kind of trigger signal, maybe a perimeter sensor, I think its over there."

Truman pointed at a rock about ten feet away, just to their right. Chu pointed his tricorder directly at the rock and attempted to adjust it. Suddenly the tricorder beeped as he found the signal frequency.

Truman reached for his phaser rifle, but suddenly Chu noticed something else.

"STOP" He shouted.

"What is it Commander ?" Truman asked.

"Look at this." Chu replied, showing Truman the tricorder readings. "There must be about a dozen of them, all interlinked. Destroy one and the others will probably go off."

"You could be right." Truman announced. "Let's see if we can get around them somehow."

It took the away team nearly three hours to circumvent the booby traps, they had been forced to walk around the traps and as they did so, they discovered more of them, cutting off all the easy routes to the ship. Finally they reached the ship and t'Rashad moved to the front and opened the hatchway. Truman stepped inside, but when the rest of the away team attempted to enter, he stopped them.

Five minutes later, he came back to the hatchway and signalled that the ship was clear of traps.

"Truman, Owen, t'Rashad you head for the Engineering section." Chu suggested. "See if you can get us some power back. Dukal, you're with me, we'll head for the Bridge and see if we can't get some of the systems back online from there. We have only two hours before this hunk of rock rotates into daylight, so concentrate on the shield systems first, then propulsion. I'd like to be off this rock before we hit daylight."

The two groups spilt off in different directions and headed for their respective areas of the ship.

"Status report." Chu asked. It was coming up for two hours since the away team had split up. The Engineering team had so far managed nothing and Chu was beginning to think that they would never get the ship running before daybreak. If that happened, then they'd be forced to leave the ship, the radiation from the red giant close by would kill them within minutes without the protection of the shields.

[We may have some power in a minute or so.] The voice of Ensign Owen announced.

"We have less than ten minutes." Chu replied. "If we have no power in five, I'm calling the ship to get us out of here."

[Understood.] Owen replied.

Chu and Dukal had had some better luck with the systems on the Bridge, they had been able to power up the main helm console with a portable power pack and accessed the computer systems. But there were no clues as to the whereabouts of the ISS Leviathan or where the ship had been.

Suddenly the lights came back on all over the ship.

[Truman to Barker.] The Marine's voice announced. [Is that OK for you sir ?]

"We're bringing the shields online now Lieutenant." Chu replied. "How long until we have propulsion back online ?"

[Hard to say. This ship has been wrecked, so many of the systems have been sabotaged or destroyed. t'Rashad thinks that we can get the impulse engines working in a hour or so, but I'm doubtful.] Truman replied. [I've never seen a ship in such a state of disrepair.]

"Do your best, sunrise is in four minutes." Chu stated.

"Commander I think you should see this." Dukal announced. From the console he had been working at.

Chu stepped over to look at what had caught the Cardassian's attention.

"What is it ?" Chu asked.

"It's a rogue signal.." Dukal replied. "This console controls all the sensors, internal and external. I've got our five lifesigns, but I'm picking up another signal, this one's energy."

"Where ?" Chu asked.

"Corridor two, heading this way." Dukal announced. "It appears to be a concentrated energy pattern, possibly a holographic projection."

"Barker to Truman." Chu stated. "We are not alone on the ship, come to the Bridge immediately."

[We're on our way.] Truman replied.
