PERSONALITY:

 David is a quiet individual, never speaking unless he has to. He is a natural leader, always ready to take charge in the absense of any real leadership. He will always get the job done, never leaving until it is finished. He has no distinguishing facial features, able to disappear in a crowd, the only thing that people  remember is his eyes. He has a hazel gaze that some have said can "See into your Soul."

PERSONAL HISTORY:

David was born on the planet Betazed to Xander and Zendra Keyes at their house on the shores of Lake Kataria. David was named after a good friend of his father Xander, a Starfleet officer named David Hemingway. Hemingway was on loan from Starfleet Tactical to assist David's father in creating a defense force for Betazed. With the ever increasing threat of war in the Alpha Quadrant, the Daughter of the First House of Betazed had decreed that the "Defenders of Betazed" be formed to protect the planet from any threats. David's father had been asked to create and command the force. As such, David did not see his father often in the first few years of his life, primarily being raised by his mother. As such the two developed a deep bond from their telepathic abilities, David's being slightly higher than the average Betazed. They were able to communicate to each other over longer distances than the average Betazed, even when one was in orbit and the other on the planets surface. Over the years David began to share in his fathers love for tactics thus decided to join Starfleet Academy but major in Command and tactical operations, a course uncommon for Betaziods.  In David's first years his Tactical Instructor found David had a special ability, a photographic memory. That, coupled with his telepathic ability made him a shoe-in for Starfleet Intelligence and so he gave David the option of joining. David chose to do several courses in Intelligence, but not take that path at this time.It was in his second last year at the Academy when he met Patricia Daniels, another third year student. They hit it off almost immediatly and after a year they decided to get married. Patricia became pregnant in her last year, and decided to put her Starfleet carrer on hold and have the child. Angela Keyes was born the day after  David graduated. He put his own carrer on hold then to raise Angela while she completed her own course and graduated to the diplomatic corps. At the request of the daughter of the 6th house of Betazed she was assigned to the Federation Embassy on Betazed. Unfortunalty she was  killed in a  shuttle accident  enroute. David was crushed, almost leaving Starfleet  to take care of  his daughter. For the first few  years he did, living  on Betazed with  his parents. But after a few years he decided to  continue his career,  taking his  daughter with him.  David chose a Science Vessel, the USS Berkley. Wanting  to see as much  of the galaxy as he could and  show it to his daughter,  but also in a  way to get away from the alpha quadrant. The Berkley  was the best  vessel from which  to do that. It was a science vessel  that patroled the  far reaches of the known galaxy, but he wanted to go  further. After two  years on the Berkley he transferred to the USS  Horizon, a deep space  research vessel that went even further than the  Berkley had.  After being promoted to Lieutenant junior grade, two  days before his daughters eighth birthday, David decided to stretch his tactical abilities. He transferred to the Tactical Operations Division of Starfleet Command at Deep Space 5. His job was to create and test out new tactical plans that could be used against a variety of possible enemy forces; The Borg, The Romulans, The Klingons (during the cessation of the Khitomer Accords in the year before the Dominion War), but most importantly, methods to use against the Dominion. With his photographic memory and telepathic skills he was very adept at remembering past mistakes to the minute detail to aviod them happening again, and predicting his enemies moves from remembering their previous actions and 'hearing' their surface thoughts from distances. Starfleet Intelligence made another offer for him to become one of their operatives, as his facical features were very average, easy to miss in a crowd and to modify in a surgical operation for deep cover ops. With the advice from his friends at Deep Space 5, David accepted the transfer, and thus disappeared from public life. Only his parents knew where he was, some of the time, as he continued to stay in contact with them. He also decided that Angela should stay with them during his Intelligence career. She grudgingly agreed but only if he called everyday, a promise which he kept, thanks to the latest in Starfleet communications encryption. David recieved intelligence training in many areas, he became a pilot of many vehicles, marksman of many weapons and a master of several languages. Whatever he saw and leanred to do, he remembered. He rose through the ranks in Intelligence, from Field Operative to team leader, and up the Starfleet ranks from Lieutenant all the way to Commander. He became an experienced and respected  leader, earning the callsign "Pegasus". He particiapted in several longterm operations, the most notable being Operation 'Broken Sword', where he successfully extracted several Maquis personnel from their besieged outposts, right out from under the Dominion and Cardassian's noses. At the outbreak of the Dominion War he was transferred to the command of Admiral Jennifer Keating, a relationship that would last for several years. He and his team, the 'Deep Eyes' lead several operations into Dominion territory, peforming several missions from extractions, sabotage, initial assaults to capture key facilities before a main fleet arrived, intelligence gathering missions and, from time to time, assasinations. One of the most important moments in David's life came when his home, Betazed, was attacked by the Dominion. His mother, father and daughter  were still on Betazed and so if Keating did not let him go, he would have anyway. Keating knew that the planet would not be able to hold out under the attack, so she sent David and the Deep Eye's to set up resistance cells on the planet. when David's team arrived, having to sneak their way through a Dominion blockade, David found out that his father had died, leading the defense of Betazed. The defenders had done well in fighting the Dominion, but at three to one odds they never had a chance. David mourned, as any son would, but he knew that his fathers death would be in vain unless he got to work, and got his job done. After hiding away his mother and daughter, the only remaining members of his family, he and the Deep Eyes set up several resistance cells, managing to inflict severe damage on the Dominion. At one time, when the safehouse that David had hid his family in was under threat, the telepathic bond that he shared with his mother came back with a force, and he was able to direct a unit to their defense, seeing what she saw through her eyes from the other side of the planet. After several months of guerilla warfare, a Starfleet Taskforce arrived to relieve the beleagured soliders. After the Dominion War, David decided to take a leave of absense from Starfleet, and leave Starfleet Intelligence. He and his daughter went to Earth and opened up a small cafe in San Fransisco. But David was to learn that you never really leave Starfleet...
