Christmas 2000 was spent driving around Ireland in our little Renault we bought in London for the bargain price of £250, it got us around Ireland and did a few trips around the UK until it got towed away by the council for illegal parking and because it was going to cost £100 to get it back, we didn't bother. Oh well it was great while it lasted :)

The beast!!
View from Ronnie's yard

Our first stop was Rob's Uncle Ronnie's house in a little town in Northern Ireland called Portglenone where we stayed for a week over Christmas. To the left is a picture taken from Uncle Ronnie's backyard.

This is another view from Uncle Ronnie's backyard with a magnificent sunset. Being from Queensland, we never really see snow, so this was a treat, a white Christmas rather than a sunburnt Christmas!

The road into Portglenone This is the road leading into Portglenone, it was funny because everywhere we went it was snowing, and we were in a carpark after being to the movies and the lock on our car was frozen up, anyway a man saw us trying to get into the car said to Rob 'Do you need to go to the toilet?', I chuckled but Rob didn't get it, he looked suprised and said 'Nah I just went?' Derrr.

This was taken from the top of Blarney Castle, it was really beautiful. After squeezing through a hole in the fence we had a look around the gardens before it closed, then slept in the car that night in the carpark overlooking the castle which was all lit up, it was pretty eerie! The next day we had a proper look around. It was fantastic!

Me kissing the Blarney Stone!

Here I am kissing the Blarney Stone to receive the 'gift of the gab'. Little do people know that this was actually an ancient toilet so basically your kissing someone's arse to gain the wonderful art of speaking shit!

Here is just a glimpse of the beautiful Ring of Kerry which unfortunately we only saw half of due to time restrictions and having to be back in Dublin for our early morning ferry the next day.

The scenery was so pretty but of course, like everything else, no photo could ever do it justice.
