I
first went to the United Kingdom in September 1998 where I did a Contiki
tour around England, Scotland and Wales, had a ball and decided to go back
and live there for 2 years, so I grabbed my backpack and headed off with
my 2 year working visa. Here are some photos of my first trip. |
|
Buckingham Palace |
Harrods (at the star's entrance of course!) |
Tower Bridge |
The London Dungeon |
Brett and I did over London in a day, we grabbed our all day zone 1 tube pass and saw London ourselves rather than pay 30 quid or so to do a tour, plus we had heaps more fun. We got London out of the way in a day and spent the other 4 days in the pub, as you do. | |
Stonehenge |
I've been to Stonehenge 3 times now and I still find it amazing!! |
Bath is also an amazing place - here are the Roman baths which were only uncovered last century . |
York was another place which I thought was amazing, especially the shambles (a sort of alleyway in the centre) which was apparently where the black plague originated from (people used to throw the contents of their chamber pots out the window and there used to be butcher shops under the houses with meat hanging up on hooks - well you can guess where the contents of the chamber pots was going...ewww!! |

|
This place was soooooo cool, Warwick Castle, best castle in England I reckon - and I can definately say I've seen my fair shares worth (oh noooo not another castle?!) |
Madam Tussuard has put her wax figures all through out the castle so when you walk into a room like the dungeon (above) and see completely real looking guys having an arm wrestle or something, it really feels like you've stepped back it time or something! |
Hadrian's Wall |
The Lakes District - beautiful |
Melissa, me and Belinda - look how little and young Belinda looks!! These girls were also on my tour. |
Here is me and Brett hanging out with the beatles at Madam Tussuards in London, I caught up with Brett at the Contiki hotel as he'd just finished a tour himself. |
And
last but not least here is the flat (well, the door to the flat) where
I stayed at the end of all my tours with Brett and a couple of my brothers
mates in Wimbledon. Staying with those guys are what inspired me to go
back and live.
