La Forge, Geordi Lieutenant Commander - human male, chief engineer of the USS Enterprise-E. Blind from birth, la Forge has implants that allow him to see. He and Worf served together on the USS Enterprise-D.

Lallek, IKS - Klingon vessel that Lieutenant Rodek and Chief Engineer Kurak served together on prior to both being assigned to the IKS Gorkon.

Larok, Captain - Klingon male, the older brother of Kori and the commander of the IKS Sompek.

Leskit, Lieutenant - an older Klingon male, served as the IKS Gorkon’s pilot during it’s shakedown cruise and the taD mission. He was assigned to the Gorkon while the IKS Rotarran underwent repairs. The older warrior still wears the necklace of the Cardassian neckbones he made for himself during the war.

lingta - a wild game animal common on Qo’noS.

Lord Governor - the title used by Governor Tiral’s subordinates when they addressed him.

Lornak, Captain - Klingon warrior that led the fleet which retook taD four years after the first al’Hmatti rebellion.

Lubbuckian slime devil - after learning of Vall’s enhancements to the replicator systems, Kurak considered him a Lubbockian slime devil.

Lukara - deceased Klingon female that fought alongside Kahless, her mate, at QamChee.

M

M’raq - Klag’s father, who remained on the Homeworld, waiting for death for over a decade. After his death, Klag had his father’s right arm cut off and grafted to replace his own, so that he could use it to reclaim his father’s less than honorable death from the disease.

M’Rep, Lieutenant - deceased Klingon male, he was an engineering officer aboard the IKS Gorkon at the time of his death at the hands of Commander Kurak. He had misaligned the warp coils during a maintenance check, which could have destroyed the ship, and she killed him for his error.

ma’Frnats - an al’Hmatti rebel injured in the struggle with Ambassador Worf and Bekk Krevor.

Marcan V - the fifth planet in the Marcan star system. The IKS Pagh had crashed on Marcan V after a battle with the Dominion.

Marcan V program - a holographic program used by Captain Klag to relive his greatest battle.

Martok, Chancellor - Klingon male, the leader of the Klingon Empire. During the Dominion War, Martok served as a general and the leader of the Klingon forces that ran through Deep Space Nine. During the final months of the war, Chancellor Gowron began to send Martok on deadly, pointless missions to dishonor him. Lieutenant Commander Worf of Deep Space Nine killed Gowron in honorable combat, and named Martok as his replacement.

Marra - a young woman Jeremy Aster had been in a serious relationship with. The last several letters he had sent to Worf indicated that she was ‘the one.’

matzoh ball soup - a dish that Helena Rozhenko was preparing for the dinner that Jeremy Aster was invited to after Worf’s return to Earth. Jeremy said it was for those with just one stomach.

Mauk-to’Vor - a Klingon ceremony that can give a dishonored Klingon a chance to cross the river of blood and enter Sto-Vo-Kor. After the Klingon invasion of Cardassia, Kurn went to Deep Space Nine so Worf could kill him.

McHenry, Mark Lieutenant - human male, conn officer onboard the USS Excalibur. Ambassador Worf received a message from him congratulating him on his new position.

me’Grmat I, Emperor - deceased female al’Hmatti, the first emperor of al’Hmat. The five emperors that followed were also female.

me’Grmat VI, Emperor - deceased female al’Hmatti, the last female emperor of al’Hmat. The rebels considered Emperor me’Grmat VI the last true emperor, and kept a statue of the former leader prominently displayed in their main meeting chamber in the caves of taD.

me’Grmat VII, Emperor - deceased male al’Hmatti, the first male emperor of taD, appointed to the office by the Klingons after they conquered the planet. All the emperors that followed were also male.

me’Grmat XVIII, Emperor - deceased male al’Hmatti, he died after a long illness while under Klingon rule.

me’Grmat XIX, Emperor - male al’Hmatti, spiritual leader of the al’Hmatti during the rebellion against the Klingons in 2375.

medical ward - medical facilities aboard Klingon vessels. B’Oraq was allowed to design a new medical ward during the Dominion War, but most of the cosmetic applications she suggested were not used.

mek’leth - a small, curved double-bladed weapon used by Klingons. It was Lieutenant Commander Worf’s favored weapon after his assignment to Deep Space Nine. During the Dominion War, Worf’s mek’leth was taken by the Breen when he and Lieutenant Ezri Dax had been taken prisoner. Before leaving the station, Lieutenant Dax had given him a new one.

Melota - deceased Klingon female that was Akuth’s equal in times of battle.

Milton, John - deceased human male, a poet who coined the phrase, ‘Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven.’

minister of defense - al’Hmatti rebel leader re’Trenat’s position in the new government.

Mogh - deceased Klingon male, killed during the Khitomer massacre at the hands of the Romulans. Mogh was the father of Worf and Kurn.

mong’em maneuver - with a Klingon mek’leth, it involves swinging the blade so that it is behind the bearer’s neck to parry a blow from behind.

Morketh - junior gunnery officer under Lieutenant Rodek aboard the IKS Gorkon.

Morath - a dishonorable Klingon male that Kahless fought against to form the Klingon Empire on a code of honor.

mugato - an ape-like creature, with white fur, claws, poisonous fangs, a singular horn and bones protruding down its spine to its tail. They can be found on Tyree’s Planet, near the Federation – Klingon border. A mugato is also featured in the upper levels of a Klingon calisthenics program.

N

Narendra III - a Klingon colony world, near the Klingon – Romulan border. Narendra III was attacked and destroyed by the Romulans, and the USS Enterprise-C intercepted the colony’s distress signal and attempted to protect them from the Romulans.

Nausicaan - a race that evolved from stock similar as Klingons, they are violent beings. A Nausicaan is a part of the eigth level of a Klingon calisthenics program.

necklaces of office - the three necklaces worn by the emperor of taD. The primary necklace was a string of silver with a Spican flame gem at its center. The other two were separately made of rubies and kevas.

Negh’Var, IKS - a Klingon battle cruiser that Chancellor Martok replaced with the IKS Sword of Kahless. Chancellor Gowron used the Negh'Var as his flagship during the Klingon - Cardassian War and the Dominion War. Civilian engineer Kurak designed the Negh’Var before joining the Klingon Defense Force.

neural stimulator - medical device Doctor B’Oraq had Captain Klag where on his right shoulder, to prepare the deadened nerves for the captain’s upcoming transplant.

Noggra - an older Klingon male, the adoptive father of Rodek.

ODN conduits - a part of the Klingon replicator matrix that Lieutenant Vall was able to modify, to increase the quality of food aboard the Gorkon.

optical chip - used by the al’Hmatti rebels to deliver messages to the emperor of taD. One was smuggled to the emperor in a cup of raktajino.

Order of the Bat’leth - only the greatest warriors for the Klingon Empire were inducted into the order. There were rumors that Klag would be made a part of the order after the Battle of Marcan V.

Organia - a planet between Federation and Klingon territory, the home of an advanced species – the Organians. Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise and Dahar Master Kor had a standoff at Organia, which led to the Organian Peace Treaty.

padd - personal access data device, used to record and carry a variety of information.

Pagh, IKS - a Klingon Bird of Prey, destroyed in combat against a joint force of Jem’Hadar and Breen ships. Commander William Riker of the USS Enterprise-D served as First Officer on the Pagh for a short time in the 2360s. Klag served as the second officer under Riker, and after the human left, he was promoted to First Officer, and remained in that post for ten years.

par’Mach - Klingon term for ‘love’.

Pers - the father of Kegran.

personal log - the journals of the crew, Captain Klag is able to access them from his office. After Kegren’s honorable death, Klag viewed Toq’s log, where he had stated his intention to challenge the older officer.

personnel records - a listing of the crews for ships and stations. Wu obtained the personnel records for the crew of the Gorkon and Governor Tiral’s satellite in orbit of taD for Ambassador Worf prior to his beaming aboard the USS Enterprise-E.

petaQ - a Klingon insult.

Picard, Jean-Luc Captain - human male, commander of the USS Enterprise-E. He requested the assignment to take Ambassador Worf to the Klingon – Federation border. During his time in command of the USS Enterprise-D, Captain Picard became the first human to serve as the Arbitar of Succession after Chancellor K'mpec's murder. When Lieutenant Worf faced discommendation from the High Council, Captain Picard was his chaDIch

pilot - title for the conn officer on Klingon vessels.

pipius claw - a Klingon dish that Helena Rozhenko was preparing for the dinner that Jeremy Aster was invited to after Worf’s return to Earth. It is also one of the only Klingon dishes Emperor me’Grmat XIX could eat. It was one of the Klingon delicacies served at Ambassador Worf’s reception in Ten-Forward.

pirogi - an Eastern European meat-and-dough dish that Helena Rozhenko was preparing for the dinner that Jeremy Aster was invited to after Worf’s return to Earth. Jeremy said it was for those with just one stomach.

plastiform - B’Oraq’s medical prosthetics are made from plastiform, so they will not molder in the storage closet aboard the Gorkon.

poker night - a weekly event on the Enterprise-E, hosted by Commander Will Riker in his quarters, it is open to senior officers, special guests onboard the ship and a select group of civilians.

Praxis - a Klingon moon, it was destroyed in the late 23rd century, due to over-mining and negligible safety precautions. The moon’s destruction led to the Federation – Klingon peace talks.

prune juice - a human drink that Worf likes. He was introduced to it by Guinan, the hostess of the Ten-Forward lounge on the Enterprise-D.

Q

Q - an omnipotent alien that had a long history of tormenting Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D.

QamChee - a site of battle where Lukara fought at the Kahless’ side.

Qang-class - the latest class of vessel commissioned by the Klingon Defense Forces during the Dominion War. It has the latest equipment and technology available. The IKS Gorkon was the first Qang-class vessel. The captain’s chair is located at the front of the bridge, in the center with a small space between it and the main viewscreen. The helm controls were immediately to the captain’s left, with the operations and tactical controls located behind the captain’s chair. The entrance to the captain’s office is to the right, and the main entrance is in the rear of the bridge.

Qapla' - Klingon term for ‘success’.

qellqams - standard of Klingon measurement, roughly equal to kilometers in Terran measurement.

QI’yaH - a Klingon curse word, no direct translation available.

Qo’noS - the home planet of the Klingon Empire.

quantum torpedo - common long-range weapons on both Klingon and Starfleet vessels, they are more powerful than photon torpedoes.

Quark’s bar - a gambling establishment on Deep Space Nine’s Promenade, managed by the Ferengi businessman Quark. When Lieutenant Commander Worf had first arrived on Deep Space Nine, he encountered Commander Drex in the bar.

racht - one of the Klingon delicacies served at Ambassador Worf’s reception in Ten-Forward. Worf was disappointed that it wasn’t served live.

raktajino - Klingon coffee.

ramjep bird - a Klingon animal, Drex’s appearance reminded Captain Klag more of this bird than a warrior.

re’Trenat - al’Hmatti male, the main rebel leader against the Klingons. He had snow-white fur and the glyph for success shaved into his cheek, and jewelry in his left ear.

record of battle, the - the record of a Klingon ships missions, it is begun after the completion of the shakedown cruise. The IKS Gorkon’s record of battle was begun by Lieutenant Rodek on the one hundred and ninety-second day in the year of Kahless, 1001.

Rector Institute - a prestigious university where Jeremy Aster was pursuing his doctorate in archaeology.

reptillian creature - part of a Klingon calisthenics program, encountered on the seventh level of the holodeck program. It wears armor and is armed with a mace

Reyga, Doctor - deceased Ferengi male that developed metaphasic shielding.

Riker, Kyle - human male, father of Commander William Riker. He serves as a civilian advisor for the Federation.

Riker, William Thomas Commander - human male, First Officer of the USS Enterprise-E. During an officer exchange program, Commander Riker served as the First Officer of the IKS Pagh, in the mid2360s.

Rodek, Lieutenant - Klingon male, the gunner of the IKS Gorkon. Kurn, formerly of the High Council, came to Deep Space Nine so that his brother Worf could kill him. Doctor Julian Bashir secretly wiped most of Kurn's memory, and altered his appearance, making him into Rodek, son of Noggra. During the Klingon – Cardassian War, Rodek was involved in a shuttle accident near Deep Space Nine and was rescued by the crew. He suffered from memory loss due to the accident.

rokeg blood pie - a Klingon dish that Helena Rozhenko was preparing for the dinner that Jeremy Aster was invited to after Worf’s return to Earth.

Romulans, the - Vulcanoid race, former enemies of both the Klingon Empire and the Federation. At first, the Romulans signed a non-aggression treaty with the Dominion. Almost a year later, the death of a Romulan proconsul brought the Romulan into the Dominion War, allied with the Klingons and the Federation.

Ross, William Admiral - human male, the ranking Starfleet officer on the front lines of the Dominion War. After the Dominion signed a peace treaty, Ross suggested that Worf become the Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire.

Rotarran, IKS - Klingon Bird-of-Prey used by General Martok during the Dominion War. Lieutenant Commander Worf often served on the Rotarran, as Martok’s First Officer. After the war was over, the Rotarran underwent repairs and its crewmen were placed on temporary assignments to other vessels.

Rozhenko, Helena - human female, Worf’s adoptive mother on Earth. She and her husband, Sergey, raised Worf from the age of six. After K’Ehleyr died, they helped to raise Alexander for a short time. When Worf was assigned to Deep Space Nine, Alexander moved back to Earth to live with the Rozhenkos.

Rozhenko, Nikolai - human male, Worf’s adoptive brother and the son of Sergey and Helena Rozhenko. He left Starfleet Academy before graduating, which caused a rift between himself and Worf. He now lives with the Boralaan, a primitive culture, on Vacca VI, raising a family with his wife.

Rozhenko, Sergey - human male, Worf’s adoptive father on Earth. He was a petty officer in Starfleet when he found Worf at Khitomer, the site of a massacre at the hands of the Romulan Star Empire. Sergey took his wife, his human son, and Worf to Gault, a farming colony before moving to Earth several years later.

R’uustai ritual - the ritual in which Worf adopted Jeremy Aster into the House of Mogh, making them brothers.

Rura Penthe - a penal colony in the Klingon Empire, once known as the aliens graveyard.

S

scattering field - disables handheld disruptor weapons within a limited range, Ambassador Worf was working on designing a portable generator for a scattering field on the way to taD. The device was used when Ambassador Worf and Bekk Krevor beamed into the caves of taD.

Science Institute - within the Klingon Empire, it is the place for scientists and engineers. Lieutenant Vall’s family believed he should have been at the Science Institute instead of the Defense Force.

secondary operations station - located at the rear of the bridge, this was Ensign Toq’s post until his promotion to operations officer.

security - a division of the Klingon Defense Force. After his death, Klag read that Kegren had spent most of his career in security on the Homeworld.

security chief - the position Lieutenant Worf held when he was a member of the USS Enterprise-D crew, after the death of Lieutenant Natasha Yar.

Shakaar Edon - Bajoran male, the current First Minister of Bajor and a former resistance leader against the Cardassians.

Shelby, Elizabeth Paula Commander - human female, First Officer of the USS Excalibur. She sent her regards, via Mark McHenry, to Worf on his new position as an ambassador. Commander Shelby served on the USS Enterprise-D for a short time, during the investigation of the Borg in Federation space and after the kidnapping of Captain Picard by the Borg.

skeleton creature - featured in Klingon calisthenics programs, it carries a two-bladed axe, and is one of the first creatures encountered in level one of the holodeck program.

skull stew - one of the Klingon delicacies served at Ambassador Worf’s reception in Ten-Forward, but served with the skull chopped into pieces instead of intact.

Sisko, Benjamin - human male, former commander of Deep Space Nine and the Defiant.

Soleta, Lieutenant - Vulcanoid female, senior science officer onboard the USS Excalibur. She was busy with a sensor recalibration when Lieutenant Mark McHenry sent a congratulatory message to Ambassador Worf.

Sompek, IKS - Klingon vessel commanded by Captain Larok. At the time of the al’Hmatti’s attack of Governor Tiral’s satellite in orbit of taD, the Sompek was two days away from the planet. While the Gorkon was in orbit of taD, the Sompek continued to patrol the sector.

Son of M’Raq - Klag’s family name.

Son of Martok - during an argument between Captain Klag and Ambassador Worf, Klag asked if Worf should be referred to as the ‘son of Martok’ to insult the ambassador.

Son of Mogh - Worf’s family name, even though the House of Mogh was dissolved by Chancellor Gowron after the Klingon - Cardassian War began.

Spacedock - a large orbital space station in orbit of Earth. It is one of the locations that Starfleet Medical students spend their final year studying in its medical facilities. The Klingon B'Oraq spent her final year studying there.

Starbase Ten - the destination of the USS Enterprise-E near the Romulan border. They were due to arrive in two days after taking Ambassador Worf to the Klingon border.

Starfleet Academy - the teaching/military institution used by the United Federation of Planets, to train cadets how to be officers in Starfleet.

Starfleet colonization ship - vessels used by Starfleet to move vast numbers of people. They have a top speed of warp six.

Starfleet Command - the command branch of Starfleet.

Starfleet Intelligence - the intelligence branch of Starfleet. After the Kreel attacked the Gorkon, Ambassador Worf ordered that for a report about the Breen shielding to be sent to Starfleet Intelligence and for Wu to get a report about any other Kreel activity.

Sto-Vo-Kor - Klingon heaven, where the honored warriors of the empire go when they die.

sublight skimmers - the ships used by the al’Hmatti rebels during their attack of Governor Tiral’s satellite. Five of them attacked the satellite, and three were still intact when the Gorkon arrived. All three were quickly destroyed by the Gorkon.

Sword of Kahless, the - the first bat’leth made by the great warrior. During his time on Deep Space Nine, Worf found the sword, along with Jadzia Dax and Dahar Master Kor.

Sword of Kahless, IKS - Chancellor Martok’s new flagship, replacing the IKS Negh’Var. Martok held the taD mission briefing for Captain Klag and Ambassador Worf aboard the Sword of Kahless.

T

T’Latrek of Vulcan, Minister - Vulcan female, one of the Federation Council’s ministers for external affairs and Ambassador Worf’s immediate supervisor.

taD - Klingon word for 'frozen'. It is also the name of the conquered planet in the Korvad system and home of the al’Hmatti. The Klingons conquered taD during in 2161. During the Klingon – Cardassian War, the al’Hmatti overthrew the Klingon overseers and were independent for less than a year. The Klingons quickly retook the planet. The planet is rich in topaline deposits, making it of value to the empire.

Takus - Klingon male, the civilian chief engineer of a topaline refinery on taD. He was calm and had an angular face. Takus once served in the Defense Force, and received the General Koord Medal of Honor, but he left the service in disgrace.

Talak, General - a high-ranking member of the Klingon Defense Force, one of Kargan’s parents.

Tamarians, the - non-aligned race whose language is based on metaphor from their own culture’s legends.

targ - a Klingon animal that resembles a hair pig with a spiked spine. A targ can be a pet for young Klingon children, and the heart of a targ is a delicacy at meals.

te’Osbron - the birth name of Emperor me’Grmat XIX. He had served as an acolyte in the he’Vant Mountains before the Klingons named him as the emperor of taD.

Ten-Forward - located on the tenth deck, forward section of the USS Enterprise-E, it is the largest crew lounge, used for various diplomatic functions, like receptions and events planned in honor of a visiting ambassador.

thermal suits - environmental suits used by the Klingons assigned to taD, due to the weather conditions.

tik’leth - a Klingon weapon similar to a Terran longsword.

Tiral, Governor - the planetary governor of taD at the time of the al’Hmatti rebellion in 2375. The governor resided on a satellite in orbit of taD, with a mixed crew of Klingons and al’Hmatti.

toDSaH - a Klingon insult that does not have an English translation.

Tokath - older male Romulan who ran the prison colony of Klingons in the Carraya system. There, the Romulans and Klingons lived together in peace, and Tokath had a Klingon wife and a hybrid daughter.

topaline - a formerly rare mineral used in atmospheric domes.

Toq, Lieutenant - young Klingon male, served as a junior operations officer during the IKS Gorkon’s shakedown cruise, but was promoted to second officer after killing Kegren in honorable combat. Before joining the crew of the Gorkon, Toq served on the K’Lan and the Gelk during the Dominion War. Toq was rescued from a Romulan prison colony in the Carraya system by Lieutenant Worf of the USS Enterprise-D.

tribble - small, furry defenseless creatures, they were an ecological menace for the Klingon Empire, since they were able to breed to quickly and consume food supplies without returning anything. The only species that have an adverse effect on tribbles are Klingons, proximity to them can cause the tribbles to emit a high, screeching noise.

Troi, Deanna Commander - half human/half Betazoid female serving as the ship’s counselor for the USS Enterprise-E. She and Lieutenant Worf had a brief relationship after serving together for several years onboard the USS Enterprise-D

trombone - a human musical instrument that Commander Riker enjoys playing.

Ty’Gokor - planet within the Klingon Empire, location where the Order of the Bat'leth inductions are conducted.

VIP quarters - the largest, most luxurious quarters on Starfleet vessels, reserved for diplomats, prominent scientists, and high-ranking officers.

Vacca VI - the sixth planet in the Vacca star system, a class-M world. In the late 2360s, the USS Enterprise-D transported Nikolai Rozhenko and the Boraalan people to this planet, without revealing to them that they were onboard a starship.

Vall, Lieutenant - male Klingon, a junior engineer aboard the IKS Gorkon in 2375. He had straight, well-groomed hair and teeth, a swimmer’s build and no facial hair.

Vulcan salute, the - a hand gesture where the fingers are split into a V-shape, two fingers on each side of the division. The proper phrase in giving the salute is “Peace and long life” and when returning the salute, the response is “Live long and prosper.”

Vulcans - one of the first member-races of the Federation. Distinguishing characteristics include pointed ears and arched eyebrows for the males. They follow a path of logic, and suppress their emotions. The Vulcans also demonstrate touch-telepathy, able to mind-meld with each other and other intelligent beings.

Vorta, the - cloned species, one of the most visible of the Dominion. Vorta serve the Founders as scientists, administrators, and diplomats to the rest of the galaxy. Each Jem'Hadar vessel has a Vorta onboard.

Vorta leader - on Marcan V, several Jem’Hadar and the Vorta leader survived the crash of their own ship, and Klag slew them all single-handedly.

W

Warrior’s Anthem - a Klingon song, sung after a successful battle. After the Gorkon destroyed all six Kreel vessels, Lieutenant Toq began singing the anthem and was soon joined by the rest of the bridge crew, and then the crew sang it as it was piped through the intercom system.

weapons bay, the - during the Kreel attack, the weapons bay of the Gorkon lost gravity.

Woodlawn Cemetery - located in the Bronx on Earth, many dignitaries are buried there. Before his first mission as an ambassador, Worf visited K’Ehleyr’s grave in Woodlawn.

Worf, Ambassador - Klingon male, the son of Mogh and a member of the House of Martok. Worf served on the USS Enteprise-D from the time of its launch to its destruction, seven years later. He joined the crew of Deep Space Nine shortly before the beginning of the Klingon - Cardassian War. During the Dominion War, Worf served as the Starfleet Strategic Operations Officer on Deep Space Nine and as General Martok’s Executive Officer. After the Dominion War ended, Worf accepted the position of Federation Ambassador to Qo’noS. Worf’s first mission was deal with the rebellion on taD. When he travels, Worf’s personal belongings include two framed photos, his family’s bat’leth, a statue of Kahless fighting Morath, a bat’leth championship trophy, and his metal baldric.

Wu, Giancarlo - human male of mixed ethnicity, serves as Ambassador Worf’s aide. Wu served as the top aide for Ambassador Worf’s predecessor, as well as at the Klingon Embassy. He is professional, can speak flawless Klingon, and is experienced in handling a bat’leth.
