1991 Laser RS Turbo Details

Yes, the car was sold sight unseen in May of 2003
A Sad day  for me indeed, but, it went to a good home!
Here are the details anyway as I still love that car!

The day she was picked up.......


Overview:

Original Owner purchased in June 1991
238K Km on body and about 50K on rebuilt motor
Repainted in May of 2000 ($1700). Removed all stickers and painted the black belt line blue to match the rest of the car
Audio system alone is worth over $3000
Winter stored since '98
No rust or dings
Interior is immaculate

Interior :

White gauge faces
Autometer -30/+25 boost gauge custom mounted in dash.
Short shift knob by Ractive
Aluminum foot pedal covers by Ractive
Home made  A/F gauge with knock sensor L.E.D
Westach EGT gauge in a homemade pod located in drivers side view mirror trim panel.
Apexi S-AFC fuel computer in a home made pod located in the drivers side factory tweeter location
 


Exterior :

Added a 1992 Laser rear spoiler
Tinted the windows 35% all around
16" ROH Astron rims
Painted the brake calipers and rotors blue
Custom stainless mesh grille in front bumper openings.
Added Eibach Pro 1.3" lowering springs
Added KYB GR-2 struts and shocks
Car was repainted the same colour scheme except the black belt line was painted body colour.
ZAINO! show polish

Engine :

Polished aluminum front strut tower brace
Painted the valve cover,timing belt cover and intake manifold  blue and polished the lettering
Replace the various vacuum hoses with red silicon ones.
Replaced the spark plug wire cover with a polished billet aluminum cover (not shown in pictures).
Stainless steel braided hose covers with blue fittings
Modified and chromed the Air filter box. Replaced the restrictive factory filter with a free flowing  K&N.
Modified the MAS air sensor  to flow over 30% more air through the unmetered section.
Removed the  the boost solenoid from the waste gate loop.
Ported 1995 exhaust manifold
HRC 16G turbo, ported it mildly around the waste gate and manifold inlet.
Alamo Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) with 2 1/4" metal pipes
RC Engineering 550cc Injectors
Mildly ported '95 O2 housing.A
Manual boost controller (MBC) to bump the turbo output from 11 to 19 PSI on 94 octane pump gas.
Walbro  intank electric fuel pump.
2 1/2" Buschur Racing down pipe and hi flow Cat.
2 1/2" stainless steel cat back exhaust system with a FOCUZ muffler and twin 3" stainless steel tips.
Buschur Racing polished stainless steel upper intercooler pipe and elbow.
Polished '95 exhaust manifold heat shield.
Buschur Racing turbo output elbow (factory one is very restrictive)
NGK BP 7ES spark plugs (one range colder to resist detonation).
NGK 8 mm spark plug wires.
RPS Turbo clutch
O-ringed  and rebuilt bottom end with Total Seal rings.
Rebuilt cylinder head with 3 angle valve job

  Eclipse  AM/FM Cd deck
Autotek 7006 stereo 31 band equalizer
  Soundstream MC245 5 channel amplifier
(2) OZ 250L 10" subwoofers
(2) Alpine 6x9 speakers (rear fill, running in mono)
(1) MB Quart 218 CX component speakers
(1) MB Quart 4" coax speaker (center channel)
Misc components include; Mallory Capacitors, fused distribution block and a blue neon light.
 

This picture shows the rear hatch with the carpet removed and the vinyl cover panels in place. For the majority of the time the carpet would remain in place covering
everything.

This picture shows the cover panels removed. The lettering in the plexiglass was etched using a dremel tool. The entire amp rack is covered in blue formica to match
the exterior of the car.




This picture shows the amp rack in the raised position to get to the spare wheel if needed.
