The phoenix was humans first attempt at warp speed. It was eventually successful. Every human child knows the schematics by heart. The phoenix was responsible for first contact with Vulcans who became allies of Earth. After the Human/Vulcan alliance met the Alpha Centurians, the Tellerites and the Andorians the United Federation of Planets was formed. The phoenix flew on 4 April 2063 captained by Dr. Zephram Cochrane.
