Mirror Universe History
The Mirror Universe is our name for the Universe first encountered by the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T Kirk in 2267. In the Mirror Universe much is reversed from our own perspective, hence the name 'mirror' universe. When the Mirror Universe was first encountered there was no Federation, the majority of our quadrant was ruled by a vast interstellar empire ruled by humans called the Terran Empire. When in the Halkan System the Enterprise encountered an Ion Storm which accidentally resulted in the switching of members of that landing party with members of a landing party to the mirror version of the planet from the ISS (Imperial Star Ship) Enterprise. Both parties were subsequently switched back, but our Kirk affected the Mirror Spock profoundly. With the Mirror Kirk dead, Mirror Spock was Captain of the ISS Enterprise. Using the Starship as an initial power base Spock eventually rose to Commander in Chief of the Empire. Now as the head of the Empire he practised policies of peace and disarmament, however these policies weakened the Empire's defences and the Empire was invaded by an alliance of Klingons and Cardassians. The entire former Empire was now under the control of the Alliance, and under this order the Terrans were made slaves. The Mirror Universe went without communication with our universe until 2370. A Runabout from DS9 was travelling through the Bajoran Wormhole, unfortunately an accident with the warp field accidentally resulted in the wormhole depositing the Runabout in the Mirror Universe. Major Kira Nerys and Doctor Julian Bashir of DS9 found themselves in the Mirror Universe. There they were taken by a Klingon vessel to Terok Nor, or as it is known in our universe- DS9. There they found Kira's mirror counterpart, the Intendant, was commander of Terok Nor and the sector, helping Terran slaves the two DS9 crewmembers started a Terran Rebellion against the Alliance commanded by the mirror Ben Sisko, commander of DS9 at that time in our universe. The Alliance had a new enemy...... However the rebellion was no match for the larger more powerful Alliance, and as 2371 rolled through they based themselves in the Mirror Badlands the Rebellion had to hide themselves, but the Alliance used the Mirror Jennifer Sisko to build a sensor array which could scan through the Badlands. The Mirror Ben Sisko had gone to convince her otherwise but had been killed along the way. Mirror Miles O'Brien stepped through to our universe and kidnapped Sisko so that he could pose as the Mirror Sisko. He stopped Jennifer and managed to get her to work with the rebels against the Alliance. Sisko was returned to our universe. As 2372 started the Rebellion took Terok Nor, but they knew an Alliance attack was inevitable. Using plans for our USS Defiant the rebels began construction of a Mirror Defiant. The Mirror Jennifer Sisko visited our universe. Once there she lured Jake Sisko, Ben Sisko's son, into our universe as a lure, Sisko followed. Using Jake as a hostage the rebels forced Sisko to co-operate in helping to get their Defiant operational for the impending Alliance attack. He helped in the repairs and Captained the Defiant against the Alliance feet eventually fending it off and forcing it into withdrawal. Sisko once again returned to our universe. Contact with our universe did not occur again until 2374 when the mirror Bareil, who's counterpart had become an influential Bajoran Vedek in our universe until his death, he and the mirror Kira attempted to steal a Bajoran Orb to influence the Bajorans in the mirror universe. However Bareil was eventually turned away from this by our Kira who appealed to his conscience. He turned on 'his' Kira and stunned her with a phaser blast. He then took her back to the Mirror Universe, confident she'd forgive him. In 2375 Grand Nagus Zek of the Ferengi Alliance travelled into the Mirror Universe to look for new business opportunities. (Note: I hate Ferengi!) Once there he sent a message back to our universe asking two Ferengi from DS9, known as Quark and Rom, to bargain for his life with a cloaking device as they did not exist in that universe (Note: Despite the fact we can clearly see not only Klingon but also CARDASSIAN ships decloaking in 'Through the Looking Glass'!) The two journeyed into that universe, with a cloaking device. However they were imprisoned by the rebels. However they were freed by the Mirror Brunt, who in our universe is an influential member of the FCA, and they took the cloak to the Alliance. However having given the cloak to Regent Worf, the Mirror counterpart of the infamous Worf, Son of Mogh, they were thrown in prison. The Regent made a deal that the prisoners would be released if Rom installed the cloaking device. He did so, and when the Regent activated it, it worked perfectly. They turned ready to attack the Mirror Defiant, and decloaked, but as soon as they decloaked they found Rom had hooked it up so that primary systems would fail as soon as the craft decloaked. The Defiant turned and fired, forcing the Regent to surrender. The Regent was captured and Rom and Quark returned home with Zek. With the Regent captured the Rebels have gained a huge advantage and Starfleet expects the tide of war to change in their favour over the coming months with the new knowledge, that said the power of the Alliance is great and it wouldnt be too hard for them to crush the rebels. However Starfleet has decided that the Prime Directive counts for alternate universes too and thus any contact with the Mirror Universe in the future will come from their end.
