Romulan 101 - by T'Maekh tr'Lennex (Sunfire Post #571):
Ok everyone, time for a little Romulan 101. A Romulan will always have two
names, their given name and their family name. The person will never be
called by their given name, unless that person is a close friend or family
member. For example, Lennex's given name is T'Maekh, but the only person on
the Sunfire who would call him by that would probably be Cassie. Admiral West
or Lieutenant Vrona would never call him by that. A Romulan's family name is
always preceded by a prefix, either (t') or (tr'). The prefix (t') signifies
that the person is a female, and the prefix (tr') signifies that the person
is male. Examples of this would be Lennex and his daughter. Lennex's full
name would be T'Maekh tr'Lennex. His daughter's name would be Adioanne
t'Lennex. I have noticed lately that some people get the prefixes mixed up, I
think in an earlier post Vrona called Lt. Lennex, t'Lennex, which in essence
means he was calling me a female. I was more amused than anything, but I just
thought I'd point that out. Ok, that's enough preaching for me today, see
