05-17-01 UPN Announces Fall Lineup - Enterprise on Wednesdays

An early morning press release from UPN confirms the fall primetime lineup for the network. The new Star Trek show, Enterprise, will air on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. (Star Trek: Voyager, as most viewers know, currently airs on Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m.) Special Unit 2 will now follow the Enterprise slot at 9:00 p.m.

The UPN press release describes the latest installment in the Star Trek franchise as taking fans back to a time before Kirk, Picard, Sisko and Janeway.

The press release also reveals some more details on the show's crew and their respective ranks:

Executive Producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, longtime chieftains of the Star Trek franchise, bring the iconic Star Trek universe to UPN for a fifth installment. Set early in the 22nd century — 150 years before James T. Kirk helmed the famous starship — Enterprise explores the history of intergalactic upheaval that eventually leads to the formation of the Federation. The combination of science fiction, action/adventure and compelling stories of collective bravery and individual heroism remain true to the spirit of one of television's formidable brands. With Scott Bakula ("American Beauty," Quantum Leap) at the helm of a talented ensemble cast as Captain Jonathan Archer, the saga continues to explore human and alien behavior as well as brand new worlds. As with each incarnation of the franchise, Enterprise pushes the edge of the visual envelope with the kind of state of the art special effects that have made Star Trek a global phenomenon. The series also stars Connor Trinneer as Chief Engineer Commander Charlie Tucker, Dominic Keating as Lt. Malcolm Reed, Anthony Montgomery as Ensign Travis Mayweather, Linda Park as Ensign Hoshi Sato, John Billingsley as Phlox and Jolene Blalock as Sub Commander T'Pol. [Enterprise] is a Paramount Network Television production.

Stay tuned for more details of UPN's announcement of the fall primetime lineup, including comments from network president Tom Nunan.

Enterprise will kick off the season with a two-hour episode, Nunan said.
