Ian is a descendant of Joseph Pearson, of Kingswinford
who married Eleanor Thompson in 1736 in nearby Old Swinford. They went on to
produce 11 children, all born in Kingswinford between 1738 and 1757. Eight of
these children survived to marry and leave descendants.
Because they share close common ancestry
Ian is a cousin of Sir Michael
Higgs, both of them being Members of Parliament - one a Labour, and
one a Conservative MP!

member of Education and Employment and Treasury Select Committees. PPS to
Paymaster General (1997 - 1998).
- Member of T&G and Stourbridge RFC.
- Guided the refurbishment of Redhouse Cone - the best
preserved example of an industrial glassmaking building in Britain - and its
development as a tourist attraction.
- Published 'Universities and Innovation'.
