The Enemy Within CHAPTER ONE!! Archer had just finished a briefing with Trip about how the engines were holding up after the last…encounter with a very hostile new alien race. He was now heading back to his quarters for some well-earned rest. He had just gotten inside when his comlink (A/N: I have no idea what those things are called…but you know what I’m talking about right? You know those things that are on the wall and Archer always talks to the bridge through it…you know what I mean.) buzzed "Archer here." "Captain, we seemed to have…encountered the hostile race again. I suspect they were following us the entire time." T’pol said. Suddenly the ship jolted, and the sounds of lasers hitting the hull were evident. "I would suggest you come to the bridge immediately." But before the words were out of T’pol’s (A/N: boy…that looks funny…T’pol’s hehe! I like that…;-P) mouth Archer was out of his room and dashing down the long halls toward the bridge. As soon as he got there (A/N: He’s a fast runner! Lol) T’pol removed herself from the Captains chair. "Status." He barked. "The alien vessel has ceased fire. But their shielding is still up and functional." T’pol replied emotionlessly staring at the image of the alien ship on the screen. Suddenly a form appeared on screen, "Ah, if it isn’t our old friend Teijgru. How can we help you?" Archer snidely remarked. "Eraprep ot eb dedraob." Then the image went blank. "He said, ‘Prepare to be boarded.’" Hoshi translated. Just then, two forms beamed into the bridge. They were an average human woman’s height, but mind you they were men. They were a greenish-blue, with very rough skin and blazing red eyes. They were dressed in silver (except for a blue belt), from head to toe...except they weren’t wareing shoes on their webbed feet. "doog gnineve niatpac Archer." "He says, ‘good evening’" Hoshi once again translated. "uoy esolc ot ym yrotirret. Uoy lliw eb edyorted yltidemmi." Teijgru announced. Archer glanced at Hoshi. "he said," she paused still trying to figure it out, "Um…we are to close to his territory…and…uh…he’s going to destroy us." She looked at Archer. One of the humanoids glanced at her. His eyes roamed he body, up and down. "uoy era yrev lufitaeb." He announced. "tahw si ruoy eman?" he advanced toward her. Hoshi took a step back, "uh…uh…" "what did he say?" Archer demanded. "He said I was…pretty…he wanted to know my name." she replied. "um…og yawa. I t’nod eikl uoy." Hoshi tried. "ohw tuoba I tsuj tel uoy kniht tuoba ti. Yako?" He turned back to the Captain. Teijgru then turned to Hoshi, "ohw si eht snopaew reciffo?" "He wants to know who the weapons officer is." Hoshi glanced at Reed. "Ask him why." Archer raised an eyebrow. "yhw?" Hoshi asked. "esuaceb. Won llet em, hcihw si eht snopaew reciffo." Teijgru snarled. (translation : "because. Now tell me which is the weapons officer") "ton litnu uoy llet em yhw." Hoshi folded her arms. (translation: "not until you tell me why.") "enif. Ll’I tsuj kcip enoemos ta modnar." He laughed. Hoshi tensed, "He said he’ll pick someone at random." "Random? What’s he planing on doing?" Reed raised a questioning eyebrow. Teijgru looked at Reed. "Taht eno!" He cried pointing his finger at Reed. A bright blue light suddenly surrounded Reed. "What’s that hell?" Reed whispered, raising his hands to his face so he could see the blue light. Suddenly, Reed’s face contorted in pain. Squeezing his eyes shut, he gave out a strangled cry before slumping to the floor with the blue light still around him. "Ha!" Teijgru laughed triumphantly, "he is now your enemy within." "Sickbay! We need you up here now!" Archer yelled into his comlink on his chair. "What did you do to him?!" Archer balled his fists. "Typical." Teijgru chuckled. "Very, very human of you Captain." "You-you-you speak English?" Hoshi stuttered. "well, yes, of course." Teijgru sighed. "I just wanted to know if you were…intelligent enough to speak other languages. Like me." Hoshi’s mouth was open, but no words came out. She was speechless. Archer took hold of the situation as he ran over to Reed. He was still glowing blue. But then the blue faded, leaving Reed his normal color. Archer checked for a pulse and found one. Good, he thought, at least he’s still alive. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
