Authors Note: This is different from most fics you have gotten from me.. to explain, I write fic *as demonica* with a group of other ladies, *who wish to remain anonymous at the mo* but we write Dark Voyager fic.. Fic where J and C are dark, gothic, spooky, evil, and most of the time get off on hurting each other (literallly), as do several other dark shippy pairings.. there are sometimes werewolves, vampires, and other beasties involved.. as well as a lot of sex and sometimes blood. Its probably easier to explain if I point you in this direction: http://darkhearts.netfirms.com you will see the type of fic I mean.. I'm probably opening myself up for all types of flames posting the link above.. but what the heck, let's live dangerously. lol This particular fic though is pretty harmless, no real violence, but it does hint at a few things that you might not understand, if I hadnt mentioned the above info. If you have any flames for me, please feel free to send them to: darkheartfic@yahoo.com and NOT to this list. Thankyou.
This fic is rated PG13, I guess to warm you up to the idea. lol but the site mentioned above is NC17. oh and this is Part One of a series.

It was dark in Captain Janeway's quarters. The only light in her rooms came from the starlight streaming in the viewports as she slept in her bedroom, and the only sound to be heard was the quiet hum of the Voyager's engines. All was peaceful, as it should be. A moment later the silence was broken by the hiss of the doors to her quarters opening. A shadow stole across the room to the door of her bedroom and it stood in the doorway watching her sleeping, watching the starlight reflecting off her pallid skin.
The shadow watched her breathing, watched the rise and fall of her chest as she breathed air into her body, in and out, hypnotising him for a few moments until he remembered his reason for being there, for being in her quarters.
Quietly he crouched by her bed, and opened the box he had bought with him. He tipped its contents out onto her blankets, with a little shake, and watched as a large black object slowly crawled its way up towards the sleeping woman. The figure took a last look at his Captain and whispered "Goodbye my love" before turning and leaving her quarters.

Kathryn Janeway awoke slowly, and stretched her body out under the blankets. This was her favourite time of the day. The moment between sleeping and awaking. The moment when she was free of the burden of command, where she could indulge in a few moments fantasy and allow her self to wallow in the luxury and warmth of her bed and the moment.
Rolling onto her side, she slowly opened her eyes, and found herself staring into the eyes of someone, or rather something, sitting on the pillow next to her. She was startled for a moment, as it was unexpected, but then she focused on the creature and realised it what it was.
"Hello." She said, meeting the creature's eyes. "Where did you come from?"
Trying not to startle the poor thing, she sat up and gathered it into her hands for a closer look. It was a large rather scary looking spider. Its body appeared to be as big as the palm of her hand, and its eight furry legs were almost as long as her fingers. It had a row of black beady eyes on its face, and two large sharp fangs protruded from beneath its head. The spider was covered all over in deep chocolate brown and black fuzz. Almost like fur.
"How on earth did you find your way in here?" Kathryn muttered glancing around her quarters. It was then that she noticed the box lying empty on the floor. "Ah, you had help. I bet I know who it was too." She looked at the spider a bit more closely.
"I also bet, that you are poisonous aren't you? And I suppose you were meant to kill me last night mmm? Looks like you didn't do your job very well, for which I am grateful. But someone won't be happy." She sat thinking for a few moments. Then keeping hold of the spider, she stood and made her way to the replicator.
"Come on, I need some coffee. I can't think straight without some."
She replicated a cup of coffee in her favourite cup, and holding the saucer she carried it over to her desk, and sat down. Juggling the spider and the coffee she accidentally spilled a little coffee in the saucer and as soon as she set it down, the spider was upon it, drinking the hot liquid.
"Oh you like coffee do you?" Kathryn laughed as the spider finished the saucer of coffee and scampered down her body to her lap, settling itself into position, where much to her surprise, it seemed to fall asleep.
As the spider slept she contemplated the fact that someone had tried to kill her last night. She flipped on her computer and did a quick search through the database for spiders, scrolling through the information until she came to a picture of a spider that looked just like the spider on her lap. Selecting it, she called up more detailed information and read through several pages of data.
"So you are poisonous" she muttered as she read the data, her hand absently reaching down to pat the spider who stirred slightly and then snuggled deeper into her. "Under normal circumstances, had you bitten me, I would be dead, as you my dear are one of the most venomous spiders in the quadrant. Lucky isn't it that I am anything but normal."
She pondered on why someone would want her dead anyway, but decided it didn't really matter, she was pretty hard to kill, and she knew whom it was that was making the attempt. Or at least she suspected. Her suspicions would be confirmed when she turned up on the bridge, she was sure. For now she had to decide what to do about her guest.

On the bridge Chakotay was sitting in the Captains chair, something he didn't usually do, even when Kathryn had handed the bridge to him. But today it felt right. He checked the time on the console next to him, Kathryn was only a few minutes late, and this wasn't unusual, so he would wait another few minutes and then attempt to contact her. Not that she would be answering my hail, he chuckled to himself.
A few moments later, the turbolift doors swooshed open and a husky voice greeted him.
"I believe that's my chair you are sitting Commander."
Chakotay turned slowly at the sound of her voice, and tried to hide the shocked look on his face. She couldn't be alive. No way. The spider he had left for her should have killed her. It had been programmed to do so, by the nid'racha, a race of people that bred and trained spiders. He had paid good money for the spider to perform the task. But there stood the captain in all her glory, looking very much alive.
"Just keeping it warm for you Captain." Chakotay said as he stood and moved to his own chair, silently wondering what had gone wrong.

Kathryn entered her quarters after her shift and threw her jacket down on the couch, and grabbed herself a coffee from the replicator. She was about to sit down, when she noticed the jacket was moving.
"Oops, sorry about that." She said removing the jacket from on top of the spider. She tipped a little coffee into the dish for the spider to drink, then said. "You should have seen the look on Chakotay's face when I arrived on the bridge! It was priceless. He was quiet the whole shift, I'm sure he was puzzling over why I wasn't dead."
She watched as the spider finished off the coffee in the dish and scampered up to nip at Kathryn's chin before trying to settle itself on her chest, turning around in circles, clockwise, and then anti-clockwise, just like a dog would, before curling up to sleep.
"You know my pet, if I'm going to keep you, I should really give you a name." Kathryn thought for a few moments, and then smiled. "Fluffy. How does that sound to you?" she rubbed the spiders back a little and it looked up for a few minutes, seemed to nod in agreement, and then went back to sleep.
"Fluffy it is then. Now, let's go to bed huh?" and with that, she cradled Fluffy in one arm, and carried her into the bedroom, to plot revenge against Chakotay.
