Once at the top of the "99" Switchbacks, a narrow piece of real estate known as the Trail Crest marks your entry into the Sequoia National Forest. The views are astounding here. Though you can't see Whitney or the other high peaks of the Eastern Sierra, it is amazing to look down on either side of the trail and see thousands of feet of vacant space between you and the ground below.
