Studio Interviews

Studio Interviews. An interview in the studio. Simple huh?! In Series 2, this consisted of Iain Lee (usually once a week) talking to members of the public or minor celebrities who had made the news for one reason or another on the day of the show or the days leading up to the show. Although, they raised a laugh or two, the standard was raised significantly in Series 3. Daisy joined Iain in the interviews, and the standard of celebrity definitely increased.

Series 3 saw the interviews become nightly (with a couple of exceptions) and some memorable moments in the Studio Interviews. There was Lee Mack saying Daisy had nice tits, and Daisy’s reaction, her face was a picture, and ironically enough this picture can be seen from a link below. Iain Lee and Sian Lloyd started to flirt big time with each other. Suzi Quattro implied that Iain had an erection. Paul Whitehouse’s interview was brilliant from start to finish. And there is much much more, but I simply can’t mention them all because of space.

Series 4 has continued where Series 3 left off. Ben Miller has been in twice, and both interviews have been very good. Same for James Whittaker, both interviews were surprisingly very good. There’s been Helen Chamberlain, Nick Leeson, Jason Donovan, Dominic Mohan, Ally Ross and many more. The only interview this series that I struggled to sit through was with Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, one because I can’t stand her and two because of the state she was in when she was being interviewed.

One interesting point to note is that the studio interviews last considerably longer than what is actually broadcast. On average, the broadcast studio interview lasts for two to three minutes. How do I know? The Frank Carson interview at the Christmas Special tapings was probably the best part of the show and lasted over five minutes. Only 45 SECONDS were broadcast, although a lot of the material was very controversial and/or raunchy. The Nick Leeson interview lasted around five minutes at the tapings, and a large chunk was cut of the beginning to make it last around two and a half minutes for the broadcast. This just goes to show how much you miss not being at the tapings!
