Alluring Stranger-Part 11

Nik lay in Gia's bed, his arms wrapped possessively around her body. he inhaled the scent of her, the taste of her, the feel of her, for fear that it might be the last time he could. He knew now that Sonny was coming, and all he could do was pray that Gia would stay with him, and not go with Sonny.

Nik could feel her breathe against his chest and he felt as is that sole movement was the only thing keeping him alive. God when did this start, he asked himself. He remembered a few days ago when he had started telling Gia about his family, she had just sat there and listened, and for the first time in a while, he felt as if he had a friend. But it had eventually become more.

Remember when we never needed each other, The best of friends like sister and brother, We understood we'd never be alone.

He didn't know when it started, but somewhere along the road, they had become more than friends. He had fallen for Gia, and he couldn't go back. He needed her beside him, as a friend, a mentor, a lover.

Those days are gone, now I want you so much, The night is long and I need your touch, Don't know what to say, never meant to feel this way, Don't wanna be alone tonight.

He didn't know what he could do, but he knew he would do something. He would do anything to prove to Gia that he loved her, and would give anything to have her.

What can I do to make you mine, Falling so hard, so fast, this time. What did I say, what did you do, How did I fall in love with you?

Something about Gia, made him feel like he was walking on water. Whenever he saw her, her personality, her looks, her heart, it made his knees weak.

I hear your voice, and I start to tremble, Brings back the child that I resemble, I cannot pretend, that we can still be friends, Don't wanna be alone tonight.

Sonny wasn't worthy of receiving the love Gia had to offer. Nik would give all the land he owned if it meant he could have Gia. He would prove it to her, no matter what the cost, he would prove that he loved her, and when she saw what was in his heart, she would feel the same.

What can I do to make you mine, Falling so hard, so fast, this time. What did I say, what did you do, How did I fall in love with you?

Or at least he hoped she would feel the same. He had suffered heartache before, and if his heart was ripped out again, he knew that this time he wouldn't be able to recover.

Everything's changed, we never knew, How did I fall in love with you?

Alluring Stranger-Part 12

Nik held onto Gia as they slept and when he awoke from his slumber, she was still in a deep sleep, he gazed down at her and prayed that he would be able to keep her here with him, even when Sonny was so near to getting her back. He felt Gia stir and saw her eyes flutter open.

"Good morning, sunshine." Nik said with a smile as Gia wrapped her arm around his waist, rubbing his stomach as she did.

"Morning." Gia replied. "Did you sleep well?"

"Yes." Nik said. "And you?"

"Yes." Gia answered, "You're warm." she said with a giggle.

Nik laughed as he played with her braids, wrapping one around his finger. "Gia..." Nik began. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure." Gia replied. She had seemed alot more than confident than Nik had been when Gia asked him the same question.

"Will you tell me about your dress?" he asked.

Gia took a deep breath, and thought for a moment. If she told Nik, it might bring her closer to him, so she decided to tell him. When she was done her story about her ex-boyfriend Sean cheating on her, and that being her commitment dress, she let out a breath that she hadn't realized she was holding in. It felt great to tell him about the dress, she had been longing to tell him since the first time he asked. But she felt as if she relieved too much about herself to him then, she would be open for hurt, and she couldn't bear it. But now, Nik had told her so much about himself that she felt she could tell him, without being criticized, or hurt.

Nik shook his head, and said, "That's a pitiful excuse of a man. No woman deserves to be treated like that because she wouldn't commit to sleeping with him. I'm so sorry you had to go through that."

Gia felt as if a rock had been lifted off her shoulders, he had heard her story, and he sounded like he understood, and didn't think any less of her. "Well." she said, lifting herself off her bed and putting on a robe, "It's all done and over with now."

"Yes, it is." Nik had to have Gia. What did she see in Sonny anyways? Well he would just have to find out. "Gia, why are you with Sonny?"

Gia was confused by his question, Nik had never asked anything like that before and Gia wasn't expecting it. But nevertheless she answered. "With Sonny I have everything I want and more. He gives me safety..."

Safety, Nik thought, I could keep her safe.

"Security."

And I could keep her secure, he told himself.

"Love."

I love her with all of my heart, and if she were mine, I would never stop showing it.

"And my mother likes him too."

Well, Nik thought, I might have a bit of a problem with that one, considering that I kidnapped her daughter.

"Why do you ask?" Gia questioned, a look of wonder in her eyes.

"No reason." Nik replied. "You just never told me much about why or how you were with him."

Gia chuckled. "We met very awkwardly, and got together as a couple even more awkward, which I thought wasn't possible at the time." Gia smiled and Nik knew that this was a fond memory of hers. "We met at the mall. There was a drive by shooting and Sonny threw himself over me to shield me from the bullets."

I could do that, Nik thought.

Wow, Gia thought, I tend to fall in love with men I meet in dangerous situations. Sonny at a drive-by, Nik during a kidnapping. Wait, Gia stopped herself, Did I just say I loved Nik? Hmm, maybe I do.

"And," Gia continued aloud. "We became a couple when we were in court testifying against the shooters. When my testimony was done I went to the ladies room, and I hit him with the door on my way out. I knocked him out and when he came to I was leaning over him to see if he was alright, and he kissed me." Gia had a look of bliss in her eyes. It was a great memory, but sometimes memories aren't enough, she reminded herself. People have to move on. People have to move onto new places, new things. She glanced over at Nik. New people.....

~*Somewhere In The Pacific Ocean*~

"I see something!" Lucky cried as he looked through his binoculars. Lucky, Zander, Jason and Sonny had been in the water, in a little dingy boat for a few hours, as Sonny tried to locate the island Gia was being held captive on.

"Let me see." Sonny demanded pushing his way to the end of the boat Lucky was perched on. Sonny tore the binoculars from Lucky's hand and then said, "Yep, that's definitely it. Lets go Zander, steer the boat that way."

"Right." Zander said, nodding his head as he turned the boat in the direction Sonny had ordered.

"Oh Gia." Sonny said, staring out at the chunk of land, "I'm almost there Gia. Hold on just a little while longer.

That was it. Nik couldn't stand hearing Gia talk about how much she loved Sonny, and how when they met, their relationship had been a fairy-tale after all the chaos. The truth was Gia had said all of that to keep Nik from seeing that she had fallen in love with him, and out of love with Sonny. But Nik was oblivious to her feelings and therefore felt as if he were losing the battle he had vowed to fight for her love.

"Gia," Nik said, his voice quiet and gentle. That was a way of speaking he had not been capable of when Gia had first been brought to the island. Gia had been snobby and rude, and he had done nothing but yell at her. But now, he was always gentle and soft when speaking, listening, and especially touching her. "Lets go to the forest."

Gia chuckled. "Nik, how many times do I have to tell you, it's not a forest."

Nik's lips curved up in a sly smile. "Fine. For today I won't call it a forest. I'll call it a patch of trees."

Gia nodded. "Alright."

"Gia?"

"Yes Nik?"

"Lets go to the patch of trees."

Gia's body shook with laughter as she slipped on her sandals and rose from the bed. "Okay Nik, lets go to the patch of trees."

~*A Short Distance From The Island*~

"Sonny!" Jason cried. "I see her."

Sonny's head shot up as he looked towards the island, and indeed there she was...holding Nik's hand! What the hell...

Sonny directed Zander to steer the boat into a small cluster of trees where they would not be seen. They turned off the small motor attached to the end of the boat and watched.

~*"The Patch of Trees"*~

Nik led Gia through the trees and into the small groove that had been caked into the soft grass. He set her down gently and squeezed in behind her, into his normal position. His arms wrapped around her waist, their fingers entwined, with his hands in front of her stomach. Nik had decided when they left the house that he would tell Gia he loved her. He knew he didn't have much time to convince her that he was right for her and not Sonny.

"Gia..." Nik began.

She pulled his arms around her even tighter. "Yes Nik?"

He began to rethink what he was about to say. What if Gia jumped out his arms and ran in terror? After all I am her kidnapper. Nik thought. How scary would it be to have your kidnapper fall in love with you...

Gia removed herself from his arms and walked to the far side of the "Patch Of Trees" and picked a small yellow flower. The second her body left his he felt cold and empty. Like someone had ripped out his heart and he had nothing left to live for. That was the moment he knew he had to tell her that he loved her. There were great risks involved in doing so, but he had to try. He couldn't give her up without a fight.

When she returned to his open arms, she turned her back to him and settled back into the groove she had been in before she picked the flower. But Nik took her by the shoulders and turned her around to face him.

"What is it?" she asked, her eyes warm and welcoming.

"Gia." Nik began. "God, I've never had to do anything like this before..."

~*The Edge of the Island*~

"Come on Zander!" Sonny hissed forcefully, careful not to raise his voice for the guards to hear him.

"Okay, okay, I got it." Zander said, loading the gun he held in his hand, then giving it to Sonny.

~*"The Patch"*~

"Gia. Ever since you came to this island...wait, let me rephrase that...ever since I brought you to this island, I've felt so different. In a good way. You make me feel unlike anything I've ever felt before. I know that what we have is nothing, and I know that you love Sonny, but I can't help it. I...."

~*The Edge of The Island*~

Sonny raised his gun, and took his victim into focus. He had to angle himself so that Gia would not be hit with the bullet. He took a deep breath and tightened his finger around the trigger.

"Goodbye Cassadine."

~*"The Patch"*~

"Gia, I--"

His words were cut short by a scream, and his body went limp as he fell on top of Gia. She screamed to the guards and lifted him up off her, looking at his face. His eyes were closed and all she saw was the blood. The red...the blood.

Alluring Stranger-Part 14

Sonny sat on the ground, in the small area Jason had scoped out that had no guards. Lucky, Zander and Jason surrounded him.

~*~Flashback~*~

The sound of the bullet flying through the air and the sound of Nik's cry was music to Sonny's ears.  Zander shot up from his spot and started to run towards Nik and Gia.

"Zander, NO!!" Sonny yelled, grabbing him by the ankle, causing him to fall flat on his face.

"Dammit Sonny!" Zander yelled, rolling over and spitting sand out of his mouth. "I thought you were going to shoot, then we get Gia, bring her back to the boat and get the hell out of here."

"No Zander." Sonny said, his face straight and drained of all human emotion. "He's not dead, I know he's not. I shot him in the shoulder. I want him to be awake, and wary when I take Gia back. I want him to be able to look me in the eye, and see my face when I win. We'll move in tonight. He'll be awake, but weak. That's all I need."

~*~Return To Present*~

Sitting before Sonny, Zander, Lucky and Jason sat, looking out at the house, all armed with guns, ready to go in.

"Are we ready?" Lucky asked.

"Yes." Sonny replied. "Let's move."

~*Nik's Bedroom*~

Gia held Nik's hand as he came to.

"Gia?" Nik asked, his eyes squinting as they adjusted to the light.

"Yes Nikolas." Gia replied, stroking his hair with her free hand. "It's me."

"Gia..." Nik began. "You--you could've ran, you could've escaped...why didn't you?"

Gia knew the answer...it was because she loved Nik, and she wasn't ready to leave him. She didn't dare tell him that. Imagine, falling in love with your kidnapper. He would think she was crazy. So instead of telling him the truth, she made up a lie. "I--I--I went to, but one of the guards grabbed me."

"Gia. I was trying to tell you something before they shot me." Nik said. "I was going to say I....I--"

Nik took a deep breath, which wasn't a smart thing to do. He went into a coughing fit and it took him several minutes to recover. Nik had hoped that Gia would stay because she wanted to stay, because she possibly loved him. Good God Cassadine! Nik scolded himself, You kidnapped her, do you really expect her to be in love with you? There is a very very slim chance of that happening.

Gia took a glass of water which had been brought in my one of the servants and handed it to Nik, who had now, after much fuss and pain, was sitting up in his bed. He took the glass gratefully and took a few large gulps.

Just then a bodyguard walked in and stood beside Nik's bed.

"What is it?" Nik asked, terrified of it being Sonny, but in his heart he knew it was, and the only opportunity he had to tell Gia how he felt, had been taken from him.

"Mr. Corinthos, Mr. Spencer, and Mr, Smith are all here, sir."

Nik cursed out loud and looked over at Gia. Her expression was one of pure shock. He only prayed that he could convince Gia to stay with him.

Gia didn't know what to think. She had expected *alot* more time to think about whether she wanted to go back to Sonny, or stay with Nik. But now, she would be forced to choose in a split second, and she honestly didn't know what to do.

Alluring Stranger-Part 15

Before Gia or Nik could say a word, Sonny burst through the door. She took one look at Gia and scooped her up in his arms. He took her face in his hands and kissed her with so much force she nearly lost her balance.

Nik couldn't stand looking at the sight. It was torture enough hearing Gia talk about how much she loved him, but seeing them here, kissing, it tore him to pieces. The pain in his heart had decided to spread through his entire body causing him to cry out in pain. In a second Gia had unraveled herself from Sonny and rushed to Nik's side. That had shocked Nik. He was sure the second she saw Sonny she would be long gone.

It had shocked Sonny too. He had expected that when Gia saw him, they would be off that island in no time. But now, here she was, beside her kidnapper, holding his hand as he cried out in pain.

Nik looked at Gia, and she knew what he was asking, without him even saying a word. Unfortunately she didn't have an answer. Strangely enough, when she saw Sonny she felt all the love for him flood back into her veins, despite what she had thought earlier about not loving him anymore. Sonny was a part of her, and no matter what she did, she couldn't escape it. Yet something had drawn her back to Nik, and she didn't know how to stop it.

Sonny seemed to understand what was going on, and Gia expected him to be furious, but he was surprisingly compromising.

"Okay Gia." Sonny said with a sigh. "I know what's going on here, and you have to understand that I love you more than anything, and I want nothing more than for you to be happy. So, you have your choice. You can come back with me to Port Charles, or you can stay here, with Nikolas."

Gia's mouth dropped to the ground at his offer. She was truly at odds. She was in love with two men.

"So Gia..." Sonny said. "What'll it be?"

She had to choose between the two men she was in love with. She had to choose who she wanted to be with with. She had to choose her destiny. She had one question to ask herself...

Is your destiny Sonny Corinthos, or Nikolas Cassadine?
