Part 9 ~*The Cottage*~

Sonny has just finished telling Jason, Zander, and Lucky about his conversation with Sonny. It had happened days ago, but he had kept to himself until now. He was trying to find a way to deal with it on his own, but worse had come to worse, and he needed help.

"I can't *believe* Nikolas did this." Lucky screamed, throwing a vase against the wall and staring at the shards of shining broken glass, now scattered on the floor. "Nikolas and I never got along, and we both accepted that, but when he messes with one of my best friends, and his girlfriend, who is also a friend of mine, that's--that's just where I draw the line."

Jason took Lucky by the shoulder and sat him down on the couch. "Lucky, we need to think rationally here, for Gia's sake. It won't help anyone if you're freaking out."

"You're right, you're right. I'm sorry Sonny." Lucky apologized. "I'm sorry if I made things worse."

"No Lucky, It's okay." Sonny said. "All I care about right now is finding a way to get Gia back."

The whole time Zander sat in a chair in at the far side of the room staring into the fireplace, not saying a word. Emily was best friends with Gia, so when Em was hurting, Zander was hurting too. He just couldn't believe that Sonny wouldn't give up a piece of land for Gia.

"We have to find something that Nik wants..." Sonny trailed off. "But we can't give him Enesco, no matter what!"

Zander couldn't take it anymore. He bolted from his seat and stared Sonny in the eyes. "Sonny, what is your problem, man!? This is the woman you claim to love with all your heart, and you won't give up a piece of *land* for her? That's pathetic Sonny, I'm sorry but that's just pathetic. I know that land means alot to you, because of your mother, but I'm sure that she would want you to be happy. And I'm sure that you can't be happy with your woman who's most likely half-way across the world, being held hostage by some revengeful maniac! Sonny you need to open your eyes, and sort out your priorities. Now if that were Emily, I would give up anything in a second. And I'm positive that If Gia were in your position she would do the same for you. " Zander stood there, his eyes full of anger and his face red. Before he stormed out the door he turned to Sonny and said, "Gia told me once that she would give her life for you. Would you do the same for her?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gia held on tightly to Nik's hand as they walked through the small cluster of trees Nik tried to pass off for a forest. Gia had tried to tell him that there were just enough trees to cover them, and there are not forests on tropical islands, but he still insisted on calling it his forest. Nik led her to a small spot in the middle of the 'forest' and sat her down in it. It was shaped like a bowl, with just enough of a dip to sit comfortably. It was surrounded by trees and it had a small opening in the trees that gave a clear view of the ocean. Nik sat behind her in the groove and wrapped his arms around her waist as he placed his chin gently on her shoulder. She turned her head slightly and placed a soft kiss on his forehead.

"Gia, how do you stay so calm?" Nik asked, never taking his chin off her warm and welcoming shoulder.

"What do you mean?" she asked as she twined her fingers in his, his hands still around her waist, now clasped with Gia's in front of her stomach.

"You are here, on this island. You don't know where you are, but you're so calm." he said. "I don't mean to bring back bad memories, but your boyfriend wouldn't give up a piece of land for you. How do you know that he won't just leave you here?" he asked his questions while placed soft gentle kisses along her neck.

"I know Sonny will come for me. He always does. He always has. He always will. He'll find something. Or he'll give you Enesco. He loves me. He'll get me back. I know he will." Gia explained. "I just have to keep the faith. Sonny loves me."

"Do you love him?" he asked, pausing his kisses as he awaited her answer. He knew that him and Gia were nothing serious. Just there for company. But he silently prayed that her answer was no.

"Yes I do love Sonny." Gia replied, hesitantly. She felt Nik tense up behind her as he unraveled his fingers from hers.

He felt disappointment. Even though he didn't admit it, and didn't make Gia promise anything, he had hoped the night they spent together had meant more to her. He knew that she kept saying that she loved Sonny, and that what he and Gia were having now was just sex, nothing more, but he couldn't help but feel that it was more than that. Nik was slowly falling in love with Gia. Sonny had taken enough from him, and he decided right then and there that he wasn't going to give up Gia without a fight. He would make her fall in love with him, and when, and if, Sonny came to get her, Gia would reject him, and stay with Nik.

"Did I do something wrong?" Gia asked, her eyes full of confusion and a touch of fear. She didn't want Nik to let go of her. Something inside of her wanted to stay with Nik, like this forever

"No, no." Nik shook his head as he wrapped his arms around her, tighter than before, and wedged his fingers between hers again. "I just remembered something I forgot to take care of." It seemed he had been using that excuse alot. When Gia had walked in on his talking to himself before dinner a few nights ago, he had covered up, using the same reason. He was beginning to wonder why Gia hadn't picked up on it. The truth was, she had picked up on it, but she really just didn't want to know about it. She was enjoying his company right now, and really didn't need anything messing that up. "Gia, no matter what happens with Sonny, you need to know, that I would never, ever hurt you." he said, placing kisses along the part of her back that was exposed by her tank top. "I would never hurt you." he repeated. As he pulled up from her back and gently kissed her temple

"I believe you." Gia replied, her eyes closing and her heart fluttering at the feel of his lips on her skin.

"Good." Nik said. "This is a beautiful place to watch the sunset. How about we come here every night. Even if I have something I have to do, I'll make time for this."

"I would like that." Gia replied. She knew that if she asked him if she could leave her room alone, it would be pushing it, so she just relaxed and enjoyed what was happening between her and Nik. It was nothing more than a sexual relationship, no commitment, but she still enjoyed it. She felt like she was on vacation. A tropical island, room service, no one calling or interrupting or bothering her, and she was in the arms of a gorgeous man, looking out at the ocean. A thought suddenly struck her. This man should be my boyfriend though, not my kidnapper. But hey, Gia thought, if Sonny had wanted, he would've giving up that piece of land, and he would be in Nik's position right now. Oh, but he will be, Gia thought, as soon as he comes to get me, Sonny and I will be together and Nik and I will be nothing more than a memory. Now if only I could get my heart to beat properly when Nik walks in a room...

~*Sonny's Cottage*~

"Alright you guys," Sonny said. "I can't give him Enesco, I just I can't. Zander I know you have a problem with that, so if you don't want to participate in this plan, than you can leave." Sonny said turning his attention to Zander.

"Gia's one of my best friends, I love her." Zander replied, his face unreadable, "I will do whatever it takes to save her."

"Alright then. Lucky, Jason, Zander, we're going to save Gia." Sonny picked up a small black device with more buttons than you could count. "I have an idea where Nikolas is. He used to tell me about this remote tropical island that his mother had left him in his will. No one has ever been there except for his mother, so I suspect that's where he is. I don't know exactly where this island is, but I know the surrounding countries. I'm going to call him. This," he said, holding up the piece of equipment, "is a tracking device. It will give me the general area Nik's in, and if I'm right, we're going to save Gia."

Sonny hooked up the device to the phone with a small black cord and dialed a number.

~*The Island*~

Nik and Gia lie in the 'forest' in each others arms. Gia had almost fallen asleep when she heard a sharp ringing in her ear that caused her to spring from Nik's arms in a heartbeat.

"Whoa." Nik said, taking her wrist and pulling her back down. "It's my cell phone. It's okay."

Gia took a deep breath and sighed as she sank back into the comfortable groove in his arms. "Yes." Nik answered his phone. "I'll be right there."

He carefully stood up and took Gia's hands in his as he lifted her out of their spot. "What's going on Nik?" Gia asked, wondering what was so urgent.

"You're boyfriend's on the line" Nik replied, his lips a straight line in which no emotion could be found, and his face couldn't be read. "Let's see if he decided when he's going to get you back."But he'll never get you back if I can help it, Nik added silently.

Alluring Stranger-Part 10

Gia sat in the cold metal chair that she had been sitting in merely days ago when Sonny had first refused to give Nik Enesco. Her flesh touched the bar on the chair, and the feel of the cold metal send a shiver shooting up her leg. She looked at Nik now, as he picked up the phone after being informed that Sonny was on the line, wishing to speak to him.

"Corinthos, haven't heard from you in a while. I thought you might not get back your pretty little Gia." Nik said cruelly, his eyes flickering with revengeful angst, "So, when do I get Enesco?"

Gia looked at Nik, confusion feeling as if it were taking the place of the blood in her veins. She had slept with Nik the previous night, and he had said so many things. He said he would never hurt her, and now here he was, talking the same way as he had when she had first been brought to the island. The truth was, Gia wasn't all that anxious to go back to Sonny. When Nik and Gia had slept together, she felt something amazing. She wouldn't ever admit it, but she felt something in her heart, something new, that she didn't ever have with Sonny. She felt joy. Pure and simple joy. It had filled her until she thought she would explode. She knew she loved Sonny, but when she made love with him, she didn't feel that. She hadn't known it then, but after sleeping with Nik, she knew that something was missing with her and Sonny, something crucial. She just hoped that for Nik, it was also more than just sex.

~*The Cottage*~

"Nikolas, this phone call is not what you think." Nik said, his voice calm, "You want to know when you're getting Enesco? Never. Lock your doors, Cassadine." With that he hung up the receiver, and looked at the small device he held in his hand. He looked up at the three faces around him, each one full of wonder.

Sonny raised the device over his head and said, "Alright fellas, we're going to get Gia."

~*The Island*~

Nik stood still for a few seconds, dreading telling Gia yet again, that her boyfriend would not give up a piece of land for her. He was still bewildered with the conversation, and he wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

"Nik, what happened?" Gia asked, her eyes frantically searching his for an answer. She jumped from her chair and clung onto his arm. "Tell me what he said."

"I..Gia..." Nik stuttered, "I have no clue what just happened." Nik shook his head in confusion. "Leave." he order the servants and bodyguards that were in the room. When they were gone, Nik took hold of Gia's arm and pulled her down onto his lap, where he wound his other arm around her waist. "I have no clue..."

"Nikolas tell me what he said!" Gia barked, becoming more and more impatient.

"Well," Nik began. "You heard my end of the conversation, and then he told me that the phone call was not what I thought, and that I was never getting Enesco. I'm sorry Gia." He didn't tell Gia about what Sonny had said about locking his doors. He didn't want her to know that he might be coming to the island. Nik would just have to put more security to make sure he didn't get in. And if Gia knew that he was coming, if might make it easier for her to leave.

"Hmm." Gia grunted, not quite sure what to make of the call either. "I wonder what he's doing. I'm sure he's coming to get me. He has to. I love him." Gia said it with emotion on the outside, but on the inside, she knew that feeling for Sonny was diminishing. And it was reblossoming, only this time, it was flowering for Nik, not Sonny.

Her last comment had hit him hard. He had thought that she had let herself let go of Sonny. But obviously not. When she said she loved him, she had tears in her eyes, and he could practically see the love bursting through her pupils. Gia still had Sonny in her heart, and the was Nik's luck was going, that's where Sonny was going to stay.
