Chapter 3: Close To the Truth

(Scene 1: The next day Florence is on the phone with someone in the brownstone.)

Florence: She knows and I need your help. (She looks at some papers.)  I know that I should have told Gia the truth a long time ago, but.  Oh, gosh what if she doesn't forgive me.

Stranger:  Listen Florence everything will be OK.  Just stay away from Willow.

Florence: I can't do that.  When are you coming to Port Charles?

Stranger:  If I can I might be there this Friday.

Florence: You might be here.  Maybe I should just give up.  Maybe I should just let Willow tell her the truth.

Stranger: I would rather we told her the truth than Willow.  Gia is going to need us, Florence.

Florence:  I just don't know what I would do if Gia found this to soon. (She looks down at the papers.)  I'll talk to you later OK.

Stranger: Good bye Florence.

Florence: Bye. (Florence gets up and goes over to her desk.  She pulls out a lock box from one of the drawers.  She puts the papers inside and closes it.   She grabs her jacket than leaves)

(Scene 2: Gia is in the cottage down stairs.  She is over the desk looking through the desk for her keys and then she goes into the kitchen.  When she comes back from the kitchen she is startled by Nikolas who had crept up behind her)

Gia: Gosh, don't sneak up on me like that.  You scared me half to death.

Nik: You scared me too.  I woke up and you weren't there.

Gia: Well I'm sorry but I have business this mourning.

Nik: You have to go over to deception.

Gia: Actually, I'm going over to see my mother.  I really hate the way we left things.  As much as I ramble on about her flaws or about her pointing out my flaws.  I still love her and I hate being really mad at her.   Especially since I know she always means well.

Nik: Well personally I'm glad.  A fight with your mother can cause weeks worth of pillow fights with me. (Gia turns around and kisses him)

Gia: How did I get so lucky.  I mean most girls think they have a good guy, but I have a prince. Literally, that's kind of funny when you think about it.

Nik: Well your not to bad yourself sparky. (He kisses her on her neck)

Gia: (She pushes him away) No, no Nikolas I have to go over to my mother's house. (She walks over to the couch.) There are those keys. I better go.

Nik: Just one more kiss.

Gia: No, Nikolas one more kiss and you might sway me to stay.

Nik: Well in that case. (He comes towards Gia)

Gia: (Gia picks up a pillow) I have a pillow Nikolas and I'm not afraid to use it.

Nik: Fine, fine I give up. You may go, Queen of The Pillow Fights. (Nikolas sits down on the couch)

Gia: Wait, wait that was way to easy.  Why do I have a feeling you want me gone?

Nik: Maybe because I do.

Gia: This wouldn't have anything to do with my birthday on Friday, would it?

Nik: Your birthday is this Friday.  Oh, man I better get ready.

Gia: Not funny Nikolas, come on stop playing, I really want to know.  What are you planning?

Nik: Hey your guess is as good as mine.

Gia: Ohh (She sighs in frustration) You are so lucky I'm going over to my mother's. (She walks to the door)

Nik: Hey, I hope your talk with her today goes better than it did yesterday.

Gia: Trust me, you're not the only one and you better tell me what you got me when I get back.

Nik: Not a Chance. (She leaves.  Nikolas watched her close the door.  Then he walks over to the telephone)

Nik: Hey, Lucky.  You can come over we should have an hour before she comes back.  OK, bye.

(Scene 3: Willow is in the park jogging when she runs into Florence.   Florence blocks her path.  She takes off her radio headset.)

Willow: Florence you're in my way.

Florence: You're not going any where until we talk.

Willow: The hell I'm not. (Willow starts to walk away and Florence yanks her arm) You might as well let go because I'm not interested in anything you have to say.

Florence: I want you gone the sooner the better so I'll tell you everything you want to know. Now are you interested?

Willow:  Everything.  So are you willing to admit what I've known all along to be the truth?

Florence: I'm ready to tell you the truth about everything, but are you ready to hear it?

Willow:  (Willow yanks her arm from Florence and sits down on a bench.) I'm all ears.

(Scene 4: Gia knocks on her mother's door at the brown stone.  She uses her key to get in.)

Gia: Mom, Mom, It's me Gia.  I come in peace.  Mom. (She looks around.) Yes, she not here. (Gia locks the door.) (She goes to her coffee table and looks around, then she goes into her mother's bedroom and finds a picture of herself and Marcus.  She comes back into the living room and looks at the book case)  Come on Mom, what are you hiding? (She goes over to the book case and flips through some of the photo albums.  Then she goes over to the desk)

Gia: I wonder if she has anything in here.  (Gia looks through her drawers, when she get to the last one she sees a lock box) Hey, what's this. (She picks it up)  Why in the world would my Mom have a lock box? (She tries to open it until she hears a noise. She looks at the door and notices the twisting of the door knob.  She puts the lock box back into the drawer.)  Who is it?

Taggert: Gia is that you.

Gia: Marcus (She goes over and opens the door)

Taggert: Hey Gia.

Gia: Marcus, hey.

Taggert: I came over to see Mom, but I guess she's not here.

Gia: You guessed right.

Taggert: Well if you knew she wasn't here why are you lurking around in her apartment?

Gia: I'm looking for something and I think I'm close to finding it. (She turns back towards the desk)

Taggert: Oh, I get it.  You're looking for your birthday presents aren't you. (She turns back facing him)

Gia: Marcus I'm not ten years old.  I'm not looking for my birthday presents.  I'm looking for something else.

Taggert:  Well, what is it and why do you think it's here?

Gia: Do you want the absolute truth.

Marcus: That would be nice.

Gia: I have no idea why I'm here or what I'm looking for, but I know Mom is hiding something and with or without your help I'm going to find out what.
