Chapter 4 The Numbers

(Scene 1: Florence and Willow go to Willow's room inside Kelly's.)

Willow: OK, Florence were all alone, so spill. Do you have what I want?

Florence: Here. (Florence passes Willow some papers)

Willow: Are you sure these are the right numbers.

Florence: Yes.

Willow: I can't believe you're just giving me all the answers.  Everything I've always wanted to know is right here.

Florence: Well I've changed.  I realize that all the good intentions in the world can't cover the fact that I was wrong.  I shouldn't have treated you the way I did.  I shouldn't have treated your mother the way I did.

Willow: I wouldn't have believed you would have done this, say five years back.

Florence: I realize I hurt you when I kept that secret, but now I'm making it right.

Willow: (Willow sits down on her bed)  You know Florence, I hated you so much for taking him away from me.  I thought you did it on purpose and in all honesty, I came here for revenge.  To make you pay for something I can't change.  For something you can't change.

Florence: Willow, I should have gave you those numbers earlier.  I shouldn't have held this secret from anyone I cared about, but that is going to change.

Willow: Really.

Florence: Really, I'm going to tell Gia the truth and by this time next week I can be free of this horrible secret. I will never have to feel the guilt.   I should be going Willow. I need to go see Gia.

Willow: You're telling her the secret so soon.

Florence: No, no.  Gia and I had a fight, that I started and I really have to apologize to her.

Willow: Wow, you really have changed.  I never thought I would hear the word apology ever grace those lips.

Florence: Well I've changed, like I said.  I'm hoping that this secret is safe.  You won't tell anyone until the time is right will you?

Willow: I have know need.  I've got what I want. You know what Florence I think revealing your secret won't be half as bad as you figure.

Florence: And what gives you that impression?

Willow: I don't know I just have a feeling telling her will be the easy part, but explaining to her why you lied, well that's a whole different story.  

Florence:  You're right, but she will understand.  She has to. (Florence leaves)

(Scene 2: Lucky comes to the cottage)

Lucky: Hey man, I came as soon as I could. So what can I do?

Nik: Help me call some of these people.  Florence and Taggert gave me a list of the people to call and the people to avoid.

Lucky: Gia is really going to like this.

Nik: Yeah, I mean, I know that coming here she left all her friends and family.  I just hope she enjoys seeing everyone again.  In fact Taggert is playing my extra eyes.  He's making sure Gia doesn't become suspicious.

Lucky: She will love this, I'm sure. (Lucky looks at the numbers)   Nikolas is it OK if Willow comes?

Nik: Willow, Willow, oh you mean that girl from Kelly's yesterday?

Lucky: Yeah, I mean I asked Elizabeth if she wanted to come and she is sort of busy with school and work.  Plus Willow really needs to relax a little so.

Nik: Sure, Willow can come, but I'm guessing no portrait.

Lucky: Yeah, Liz has been so swamped, trying to make up for lost time.  I barely can get in a day with her.  I'm sorry man.

Nik: That's, OK,  I mean that was only one of my many gifts for Gia.  She is going to adore my big surprise for her.

Lucky: Big surprise huh. What would that be?

Nik: Well, If everything goes to plan, her father.

(Scene 3: Gia is talking to Taggert in Florence's apartment)

Taggert: Gia I don't know what your looking for, or how long it will take to find it, but I really would like it if you had breakfast with me.  Can you take a little time to put a smile on your big brother's face.

Gia: Maybe, but first I want to find out what's in this lock box. (Gia walks towards the desk and Taggert holds her back)

Taggert: Gia as an officer of the law I can't allow you to do that.

Gia: You're kidding me right.

Taggert: No, I'm not.  I wouldn't want to get you in trouble four days before your birthday.

Gia: You are a piece of work, you know that.

Taggert: Come on Gia what could possibly be in there that you really need to see.

Gia: I don't know and that's why I have to find out.

Taggert: No, No, no, your coming with me.  (Taggert puts his arm around her shoulders. ) Come on little sis, let's go eat and then when I'm not around you can snoop.

Gia: Fine, but I'm going to find out whatever secret is being hidden from me.

Taggert: Have you ever considered a career as a private detective or officer of the law.  (They walk over to the door)

Gia: Yeah, when I was five and I thought bank robbers really carried those bags with the money sign on it.  I mean how easy would it be to find them. (Gia walks out the  door)

Taggert: (Taggert laughs) I love you sis. (He looks around to make sure every thing is in place)

Gia: I know. (He shuts the door and they leave)
