Chapter 8 Revealing the Truth (Part 2)

(Scene 1: Nik and Gia are in the jag. She has a blind fold on.  It's in the afternoon and they are driving to the grill for her party.)

Nik: You better not peek.

Gia: How can I.  I know your family was impressed by your ability to tie knots.

Nik:  Yeah, Cassidine's learn that trade, before they learn how to tie their shoes.  I just don't want you peeking.

Gia: OK, fine.  Do I at least get a clue of where we're going?

Nik: No.  Trust me this is one present that is much better left as a surprise.

(Scene 2: Lucky is in the Grill with Florence and Taggert.  A lot of their family and Gia's friends are there.  Lucky looks down at his watch.  He is waiting for Willow, when Florence comes up to him.)

Florence: Hello, Lucky.

Lucky: Hello Mrs. Campbell, I hope your having a nice time.

Florence: Actually I am.  You and Nikolas truly out did yourself.

Lucky: Thank you.  Nikolas and Gia should be here any time now.

Florence: Oh, I know, everyone is in place.  I'm just wondering why you still look a little worried.

Lucky: Oh, I'm waiting on a friend of mine.  I really hoped she would come.   She's running a little late.

Florence: Well I'm sure she'll be here.

Lucky: (Lucky looks out of the window.) Right.  Oh, wait.  I think that's Nikolas and Gia, we better go inside the dinning area.

Florence: OK.  (They go inside)

(Scene 3:  Nikolas is leading Gia inside the Grill.)

Nik: OK, Gia we are almost there.

Gia: You better not let me fall.

Nik: You know I wouldn't let that happen.

Gia: Oh, my gosh this is so exciting.  (They go inside, Nikolas opens the door.  Everyone is silent.)

Nik: OK, I'm going to untie your blind fold.

Gia: Hurry up, I want to see my surprise.

(Nik unties it and Gia's eyes adjust.  With the opening of her eyes a loud, Happy Birthday suffused through out the room.)

Gia: Oh, my gosh. (Florence and Taggert come up and hug her.)  Oh, my gosh, I can't believe everyone is here. (Gia is smiling from ear to ear.  Her aunts and uncles come up for a hug.)  Aunt Tracy I can't believe you're here and Uncle Eric.

Tracy: Oh, Gia, you have quite a guy here.

Gia: I know, I know.  (She hugs her again.  Gia goes through out the room and hugs all of her family.)

(Lucky finds Willow at the door)

Lucky: You're late, where were you?

Willow: Oh, did I miss the big surprised expression on her face.

Lucky: Yeah, they just arrived.  So why were you late?

Willow: Well, I found someone outside asking for Gia's Mom and I invited him in.  

Lucky: Oh, OK.   

(Gia kisses Nikolas and thanks him.)

Gia: Nikolas, this is the most amazing thing anyone has ever gave me.  Thank you so much. (She hugs him.)  All of my family.  I don't think this day could get any better.

Nik: Trust me it could. (Nik passes her a glass of wine.)

Gia: What are you talking about?

Nik: (Nikolas taps is wine glass.)  Hello, hello, may I have everyone's attention.  (Everyone quiets down) First of all I would like to thank all of you for coming.

Gia: (Gia interrupts him) So would I.  I'm so glad everyone's here.  I haven't seen you all in such a long time. OK, I'm sorry Nikolas go ahead. (They laugh.)

Nik: I love Gia very much.  She means so much to me and I decided to use her birthday to show her just how much I care.  But there is one more surprise for Gia that I think she will enjoy. (Gia smiles and wiggles with excitement.  She takes a deep breath)

Gia: So, what is my surprise?

Nik:  OK, You know how I invited all of your family here.  Well, there is one person missing, that's not in this room so. (Nik screams towards the door.) Will Gia's surprise please come in.  

Gia: (Gia looks around the room.) Nikolas did find my father? (A tear streams down her cheek.)

Nik: (Nikolas flashes a smug grin. He wipes her tear.) Why don't you go open the door and see.

Gia:  Oh, my God. (She hugs Nikolas and then walks towards the door with her glass in her hand.  She is trembling with excitement.  She opens up the door with a big smile on her face.  The smile fades away when she looks at the man in front of her.)

(A man walks into the room.  Everyone seems to gasp. )

Nik: What are you doing here?  You were not invited.

Man: I'm Gia's father and I was invited, by her mother.

Gia: What is this a joke?  (Gia looks at her mother and at Taggert.)

(Gia stares at the stranger in front of her and then back at her family.  The stranger stares at Gia, his daughter whom he had never met.)

(Willow smiles to herself.  She taps Lucky on his shoulder)

Willow: Lucky, this party just got a whole lot better. (Lucky looks at Nikolas and then back at the man.  The room is tense and their gasp turned into murmurs.)

Gia:  Mom, what is going on? (Gia looks at the man.)  Who are you?  

Man: I'm Michael Corbin, your father. (Gia looks at Nikolas.  Nikolas and Taggert have a shocked expression on their face.  Gia backs up to where Nikolas is standing.)

Gia: You're not my father, my father is Harold Campbell.  Mom, tell him.   You've never met this man before, have you? (Florence walks up to Mike.   She stares at him for a while.)

Florence: (Florence hugs Mike.) I have seen this man before Gia. (She turns towards Gia.)  This, This is your father. (Gia stares at her and drops her glass.)
