Chapter 9: WAR

(Scene 1: It's sunset on the island.  Luke, Laura and Nikolas are in one of
the caves next to the shore.)

Nik: I'm going to find my grandmother and Gia.

Luke: I'll find Lucky.  If we don't call in on the two way radio you know
what to do angel. For now stay here where it's safe.

Laura: OK. Be careful you two.   I can't lose either one of you.

Nik: Come here Mom. (He hugs her.) I love you.

Laura: I love you too. (Luke pats Nikolas on the back, Nikolas leaves.)

Luke: Don't worry Laura I'm going to find Lucky.

Laura: I know you will. (They hug.) I meant what I said, Luke, I can't lose
you either.

Luke:  I love you angel, I think I always will. (He kisses her.  Without
giving her a chance to respond he leaves.  Laura sit down in the cave.  She
looks at her watch.)

Laura: Oh God please let this work. (She notices a shadow overhead. She looks
on the ground.  Someone comes from behind her and covers her mouth they talk
in her ear.)

Taggert:  Mrs. Spencer.

Laura: Taggert is that you?

Taggert: Yes, I'm sorry, but I didn't want you to scream. (He lets go of her
and she turns towards him.)

Laura: What are you doing here?

Taggert: They have my sister.  I have to get her back.  Now if you can make
it back to shore there's a boat that's covered almost completely by trees.
 There are three men waiting for you and anyone else we send that way, OK.

Laura: OK. Taggert, my family is in there, please make sure they get out.

Taggert: So is mine.  Don't worry I will. (He stands up.) I won't let
anything happen to your family. (There is a loud gun shot.  Taggert falls on
his back.)

Laura: Oh, no, no. Taggert. (She kneels beside him.)  Oh, my God they shot
him.  No. (She sees another shadow.  She turns around someone hits her over
the head and she falls out.  They start dragging her towards the castle.)

(Scene 2: Nikolas is in the castle. Gia is right over head of the room inside
of the vent.  He sees one door cracked open.  He walks in with his gun in
hand, but someone other than Gia is waiting for him.)

Nik: (He whispers.)  Gia, Gia. (Someone closes the door behind him.  He turns
around.)

Starvos: Nikolas, I've been waiting for you.

Nik: Who are you?

Starvos: You know who I am. (Gia hears Nikolas voice and starts whispering.)

Gia: Nikolas, Nikolas I'm up here. (Nik doesn't hear her.)

Nik: You're supposed to be dead.

Starvos: I was, for a long time my son, but I came back for you and your
mother.  Like you came here for your girlfriend.

Nik: Where is Gia? (Inside the vent.)

Gia: I'm up here, Nikolas! (She starts rattling the vent.) Why can't you here
me?

Starvos: My son, we have more important business to tend to.  You will have
your girlfriend, but not until you are a Cassidine again.

Nik: Where is Gia?  I'm not signing anything until I know she's ok.

Gia: Nikolas I'm in here. (The vent creaks.) OK, that didn't sound good. (Gia
falls from the vent into Nikolas' arms.  Nikolas drops his gun. Gia stands
up.  She hugs Nikolas, Starvos seeing they are preoccupied picks up the gun
and hides it behind his back.)

Nik: What were you doing up there?

Gia: You know me I'm all about my entree?

Nik: Are you Ok?

Gia: I am no thanks to serial dad over there. You really should get those
vents cleaned.

Nik: Thank God you're ok. (They hug each other again.)

Starvos: This is a very romantic reunion. (Gia lets go of Nikolas and starts
walking towards Starvos.)

Gia: Great then you won't mind us leaving.  You haven't been the greatest
host.

Starvos: Oh, no.  You're not leaving.  At least not without a bullet. (He
grabs her arm and pulls her towards him. He takes the gun and holds it to her
neck.)

Nik: No, OK.  Don't hurt her, I'll do anything you want.

Starvos: All I want is my son back.  I want you to be a Cassidine again.

Gia: Nikolas, you don't have to.

Starvos: SHUT UP! Unless you have a death wish.  I think you better let him
make the choice. So what do you say my son?  Her life for yours.

(Scene 3: Luke is outside the castle.  He is hiding in trees and leaves.  He
calls Laura.)

Luke: Angel this is Luke, you there?

Laura: LUKE ! (Helena talks on the radio.)

Helena: Hello Luke.

Luke: Queen of the Damned, well isn't this just great.

Helena: Where are you Luke?  Laura and Lucky are waiting.

Luke: I want to talk to Laura.

Helena: I'm afraid she's tied up at the moment, so I will tell you plan A.
 Laura is fine, but if you're not here in fifteen minutes she will become a
real angel.

Luke: NO!

Helena: Oh, so we don't like plan A.  That's a shame, because that is my
favorite.  Fine, you must get in here now.  The clock is ticking, Luke, and
you can't make up for lost time. (She turns it off.)

Luke: Damn it, Damn it.

Stefan: Luke, Luke.  

Luke: Stefan, great.  This keeps getting better and better.

Stefan: Luke, we can rescue Laura, if we work together.

Luke: OK, I have an idea.  You stand in front of me and be my body shield.
 How about that?

Stefan: We have no time Luke, you need me if you want to safely get into that
castle and walk out of it alive.

Luke: Fine, what do you propose we do?

Stefan: I propose we put an end to my mother's evil, here and now.
