Luis and Sheridan had just left the bar and were walking to his car. She stumbled a little on the way because she was still drunk. Luis caught her and helped her the rest of the way. When they got to the car, he helped her in and fastened her seatbelt for her. :-) Luis: You all set, Sheridan? Sheridan: Yuppers. Hey Luis? Can we drive with the sirens on and maybe talk on the loud speaker? Luis: (Laughs) I don't think so Sheridan. Sheridan: Man, no fun! Pleeeeeeease? Just the sirens at least? Luis: Maybe some other time. Sheridan: Okey dokey. Luis sees a bunch of kids at the 7-Eleven that could be causing trouble, so he pulls in. Luis: Man, what is this? (Before he could tell Sheridan what he was doing, Sheridan grabbed the mic for the loud speaker) Sheridan: Listen up you little Harmony Hoodrats! This is Occifer Lopez-Fitzgerald's car and he's the law in this here town. Now, I've seen how cranky he can be, and if I were you'd I'd get outta here before he hauls all of ya to the clink. And believe me he will! It ain't pretty! After Sheridan's speech, the kids took off running and she put the microphone away obviously satisfied with herself! Luis: (Trying to be angry, but he just can't and starts laughing) What was that Sheridan? I didn't realize that a woman as refined as yourself could be so ornery. Sheridan: Well, that goes to show you that you don't know everything there is to know about me. In fact I think you know very little about me, Officer Luis. Luis: That may be true, but I do know that something was bothering you tonight and that's why you were pounding down the booze. Sheridan: What? There's nothing bothering me…everything is fine with me. I couldn't be happier. Luis: I really don't buy that. Say, why weren't you out with Hank tonight anyway? I thought that you had plans with him. At the mention of Hank's name, Sheridan suddenly remembers the cause of her worries and breaks out into tears. Luis is trying to make sense of this while trying to drive Sheridan home at the same time. Luis: What? What did I say, Sheridan? I didn't mean to make you cry…what is it? Sheridan: It's…not…you…Luis…it's…HANK (she said between sobs) Luis: What about Hank? I thought you two were really hitting it off. (he said it much to his chagrin) Sheridan's sobs had calmed now and she was able to speak more clearly. Sheridan: I thought so, I mean I guess so. I don't know really. Anyway, as I was walking out of the Youth Center tonight, I saw Hank standing on the corner by the Book Café and he was kissing Beth. Luis: Hank was kissing Beth? (He tried to hide the fact that he was glad to hear this news) Sheridan: Yes. I mean, it's not like I had a claim on him. He was by no means my boyfriend, but it just reminded me again how lonely I am and how I'll probably never find anyone to love me. I have had men that claimed to have been in love with me, but I know they just saw dollar signs in my name. What I wouldn't give to have any other last name than Crane sometimes. Luis just sat and took in everything she was saying. Sheridan: I'm sorry to unleash all of this on you, Luis. The last thing you probably want to hear is about my problems especially since I'm a Crane and you think we don't have problems. That last remark kind of stung Luis and he felt bad for all of the times he insulted her simply because of her last name. Luis: Sheridan, if I didn't want to know about your problems, I wouldn't have asked, all right? I'm really sorry about what Hank did. 'Really, I'll have to thank him later.' You have just made me realize how unfair I've been to you this whole time I've known you. From the first day I met you and found out that you were a Crane, I held that against you. Mama brought me up better than that but you know how self-absorbed and bull-headed I can be. I just have a really hard time admitting when I'm wrong, but that's what I'm doing right now, Sheridan. I am admitting that I was wrong to pretend to know what you were like simply because you are a Crane. You have made many attempts to be kind to me, and I shot you down. Well, I'm not going to do that anymore. I hope that we can put all of this animosity behind us. Do you think that we can do that? Sheridan, obviously shocked, doesn't quite know what to say. Sheridan: Luis… Luis: (interrupting) And don't say that you'll never find someone to love you. You deserve all of the happiness you can find. You're a good person, Sheridan Crane. I realize that now, and you deserve to have someone love you whole-heartedly and not because of what some stupid bank statement says. Luis, shocked at everything that just came out of his mouth, sits there speechless. Sheridan: Luis…I…I don't know wh-what to say. I can't believe you said all of those incredibly kind things about me. I really appreciate it a great deal. You have no idea how nice it is to hear. I am in shock though from everything that you said. Did you really mean it when you said you wanted to put all of the bad blood behind us? Luis: Yes, Sheridan. I did. I really did. Sheridan: I think that would be a wonderful idea. I don't know what it is tonight, but there is something completely different about you. It's almost charming, Officer. I never expected when I woke up this morning that I would be getting a ride home from you and that I would be spilling my guts to you as well. Who'd of thunk it…a Crane and a Lopez-Fitzgerald getting along in a confined space? Sheridan looks over to Luis and they smile at each other. Sheridan is totally taken aback by Luis's actions and his words tonight. First he rescued her and then he was comforting her and something that she never thought would happen…he apologized to her. They didn't say much the rest of the way to her house. Sheridan was starting to nod off so Luis just let her be. Once they got to the cottage, Luis opened her door and helped her out of the car. Luis: Wake up sleepy head. Let me help you out of the car. Sheridan: Thank you, Luis. Luis walked Sheridan to her door trying to think of what to say next. He desperately wanted to tell her so much more than he had already, but he didn't. Luis: Well, this was definitely an interesting evening. I never expected it to turn out the way it did, but I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that I'm sorry it happened. I mean, I'm sorry that Nick was such a creep to you, but I'm really glad that I got to say what I did to you. Sheridan: I feel the same way. I never would have thought that I'd be saying goodnight to you at my door. I just want to thank you again for coming to my rescue. I'm really beginning to think that all of that boozing was a BAD idea. Also, thank you for everything that you said to me. You gave me hope and convinced me not to give up on love. Luis: Hey, I was just doing what any upstanding gentleman would do. (He gave her his killer smile) Sheridan: I mean it. Thank you. So, do you think we can try this friend's thing again? Or was it just a one-time thing? Luis: Oh, I'd say there's a definite possibility. (He was so happy he was about to burst) What about tomorrow night? Sheridan: Why, Super-Cop, are you asking me out on a date? Luis: (Smiles at her) Take it how you want, Sheridan? So, what will it be? Yes? Or no? Sheridan: Okay, Luis. I'll take you up on your offer. Now I really have to get some sleep. I have to work tomorrow and I have a feeling that I'm gonna have one hell of a hangover. Luis: Well, who's your boss? Maybe I can talk him into letting you come in later than usual. I do have a way of persuading people! Sheridan laughs at his sweet attempt. Sheridan: That's a really nice offer, Luis, but I recuperate well, so I think I'll be okay. Luis: Okay. So, I'll see you tomorrow. Sheridan: Definitely. Luis turns to walk away when Sheridan called to him. Sheridan: Luis! Luis: Yeah, Sheridan? Sheridan walks up and kisses him on the cheek Sheridan: Thanks again. Goodnight, Officer Lopez-Fitzgerald. She turns around and walks into the house, leaving Luis on the porch. Luis: Goodnight, Sheridan. I can't wait until tomorrow. Luis smiles all the way to his car and all the way back to his house.
