My
Wife & Kids (ABC,
Wednesday 8pm. Premieres September 25th)
What's
Happening: The
show opens witha vacation in Hawaii, which is what ABC would have
to give me to make me watch this show.
Where It's
Been:
A hit from the get go, it's been ABC's sole comedy prospect for the
last
year, and it's only series to increase in viewers last season.
Last Season's
High: 14.6mil
(April 24, 2002)
Premiere
Prediction: 12.5mil
The
Reason: As
sick to your stomach as it may make you, Damon Wayans, you will beat
"Bernie
Mack." Yours is more a family show than his. Simply put, if anything on
ABC's schedule will work next season, it will once again be your show.
If you had premiered in ABC's heddy "Millionaire" days, your ratings
would
probably be near those of "Raymond" as we speak.
The
George Lopez
Show (ABC,
Wednesday 8:30pm. Premieres October 2nd)
What's
Happening: The
series (which has aired on 3 episodes, so can this count as a "second"
season?) take a very serious turn as Geroge learns that his father is
alive.
The twist? His last name is Lopez and he lives in Texas. And Sandra
Bullock
does come back.
Where It's
Been: Drew
mediocre numbers after a three episode run last April. ABC basically
brought
it back to appease it's minority star quotient.
Last Season's
High: 10.1mil
(April 9, 2002)
Premiere
Prediction: 10.4mil
The
Reason: If
"My Wife" does well, so will this show. Even when its lead-in was in
repeats
last season, "George" held onto most of its audience.
The
Bachelor
2 (ABC,
Wednesday 9pm. Premieres September 25th)
What's
Happening: Guess.
Where It's
Been:
Drew okay ratings on Monday night last spring, slowly increasing each
week.
The final aired on the first Thursday in May sweeps and drew almost 19
million viewers.
Last Season's
High: 18.4mil
(April 25, 2002)
Premiere
Prediction: 13.3mil
The
Reason: After
last season's burst at the end, more viewers should show up at the
beginning.
But it still has to prove that it's not just another "Temptation Island
2."
MDs
(ABC,
Wednesday 10pm. Premieres September 25th)
What It's
About: Unlike
"Presidio Med," alos set in San Fransisco and in the same timeslot over
on CBS, this show is being described as "Scrubs," only with an all male
cast and not as funny, nor as dramatic.
Who's Behind
It:
Nobody who you'd recognize.
LUnfair grade
Before Even
Watching: B-
Premiere
Prediction: 8.0mil
The
Reason: As
with "Presidio," this is gonna have a very tough time surviving in the
timeslot against "Law & Order." But as a candidate for replacing
"The
Practice," maybe a move to Sundays is in order.
