What It's About: Ever wanted to relive the 1970's? If you didn't watch NBC's horrible movie "The 70s," this show is for you! The centre of attention is a 15 year old girl who's life revolves around "American Bandstand." Her parents, meanwhile, struggle to keep ti all together. NBC promises the show will be "rocked" by real world happenings. Who's Behind It: Dick Clark is the Executive Producer, Gail O'Grady ("NYPD Blue") plays the mom. None of the others are well known. Unfair Grade Even Before Watching: C Premiere Prediction: 10.7mil The Reason: NBC has always had success in lauching dramas here (think "Ed;" "Third Watch"). The problem has been keeping viewers tuned in. That could very well be the case here as this show competes with a number of others in the "back to the past" category.
Law & Order: CI (NBC, Sunday 9pm. Premieres September 29th) What's Happening: The same old stuff. Where It's Been: Not as big as it's "Law" sibing "SVU," the show drew solid Sunday numbers for NBC last season. This summer ratings have stayed amazingly high, usually ranking in the top 15. Last Season's High: 14.5mil (October 14, 2001) Premiere Predicition: 13.8mil The Reason: Just like the pther "Law"s, this one should keep gaining straight through season 2. The fact that there is one less drama competing with it ("The X-Files") could help alot.
Boomtown (NBC, Sunday 10pm. Premieres September 29th) What It's About: Think "Third Watch" in Los Angeles. From NBC's description, the show emcompasses lawyers, reporters, cops and detectives Who's Behind It: From NBC studios, the cast is a who's who of failed tv shows. Staring Donnie Wahlberg, Jason Gedrick to name a few. Unfair Grade Even Before Watching: B Premiere Prediction: 11.2mil The Reason: "CI" in front of it can't hurt, and since the show seems to be in the same law and order tone, it could keep alot of the audience interested. Although I earlier condemed the series as one of the first to die, it could do rather well, especially if "The Practice" continues to erode, which it probably will.
