Chapter 21: Protecting Love
Chapter 21:
Sheridan refused to cry over Luis and his stupid pride. She just couldn’t understand why he was fixated on her not spending her own damn money when they got married, if they got married. Luis was so proud; it was sickening. Luis had worked hard most of his life to help support his family. What was wrong with Luis enjoying life without having to worry about money? His life would be so much easier.
Luis could go to college like he planned to do before his father disappeared. Then he could go on to law school, he was a brilliant man.
She knew he would make a great lawyer because he loved to argue. Maybe he just had too much damn pride to spend any of her money, FINE, but she would be damned if he stopped her from spending her own damn money. That was her last thought as before she stripped down and slid into bed. She fell asleep instantly, hugging her pillow.
Meanwhile Luis was beyond pissed off. Sheridan just didn’t understand. He didn’t want her money, whether it was from Alistair or her deceased mother, Katherine.
She didn’t understand that he wanted to provide for her but it was obvious that Sheridan thought she couldn’t live off the salary of a small town cop. As much as he hated to admit it maybe Sheridan was more of a Crane than what he or she thought. If she was where did he figure into her life? Luis knew he wouldn’t get any sleep any time soon so he dropped to the ground and began doing push-ups and sit-ups.
The sunrise caused Sheridan's eyes to flutter open. She got up and put a robber on over her naked body. She went to the kitchen, made a pot of coffee, poured herself a cup of coffee and went to sit down at the island. As she drank she let her thoughts wonder and where they went she didn’t like, it was inevitable, her thoughts always strayed to Luis. She groaned and got up, she decided to do some cooking to keep her mind off of the stubborn cop.
All the men piled into the kitchen almost at the same time. Sheridan didn’t pay any particular interest to Luis. She told them all to sit down and she would bring them a plate. She set the plates down in front of the FBI agents gently, but she practically dropped Luis’ plate in front of him. She then excused herself as Luis gritted his teeth. Luis looked as if he was about to go off at any minute, the men decided not to push it and ask him why he and Sheridan were not getting along. Anyone with eyes could see that Sheridan drove Luis crazy and vice versa, but something had to be done to keep the two from killing each other.
Sheridan emerged from the room dressed in a baby blue halter, a pair of tight low-rise jeans and a pair of baby blue heels. She walked into the sitting room and plopped down in the cushy black leather couch for a couple of minutes. She was bored so she decided to visit the entertainment room where her father’s stereo was, he had satellite radio set up.
“What the hell?” Luis exclaimed when he heard the loud music.
He and the agents had been talking but got up to check out where the loud music was coming from. They followed the sound down the long hallway until they reached a door. Luis opened the door to find Sheridan wildly gyrating her hips. Luis couldn’t keep his eyes off of Sheridan’s hips and her firm backside. He had almost forgotten why he was mad at her. Anytime Sheridan came into a room his body temperature went up but now he felt like he was on fire. His jeans were completely becoming restricted.
As if sensing his presence she turned around, but didn’t stop dancing. Luis realized he was about to embarrass himself. The song winded down and Sheridan turned the stereo off. She then walked past Luis and out of the room with a wicked smile.
Sheridan exhaled a breath, she was bored out of her mind. She wasn’t allowed to go anywhere and it was making her stir nutty. She needed to visit some of her favorite sites, see some friends, anything, she needed to do something. She decided to go and try one of the FBI agents. She approached Agent Michael Banks, the man was pretty handsome, maybe she could charm him.
“Hey Michael.” She greeted with a smile.
“Hey Sheridan.” He said with a bright smile.
“I was wondering if I could go out.” She said with a flirtatious smile.
“Sorry Sheridan, but that’s something for Luis to decide.” He said watching her face fall.
“Why?” Sheridan whined.
“Luis is head on this case, he decides any decisions about your safety.” Banks answered.
“Great.” She said sarcastically. She knew Luis wouldn’t let her go but it never hurt to ask. ‘Nope.’ She thought as she made her way over to Luis.
“I already know what you’re going to ask me and the answer is no Sheridan.”
“Luis, you’re being unfair.” Sheridan said in a whiney tone, she also stomped her foot for good measure. Luis just smiled, she was just so beautiful when she was mad. “Why the hell are you smiling?” Sheridan asked completely irritated.
“You’re beautiful when you’re mad.” Luis answered. By the confused look on Sheridan’s face she wasn’t expecting that. She simply said thank you and continued pleading her case to get out and have some fun. “Sheridan I understand you don’t like being cooped up but this is for you safety.” Luis explained. He could see the spark in her eyes re-ignite; she was about to start something.
“Bullshit.” Sheridan yelled. “You just want me locked up because you’re all mad because you couldn’t get your way…” Luis, who looked angrier than hell, cut off Sheridan.
“You know damn well this isn’t about the fight, this is all about your safety Sheridan. You have no idea how scared I am for you Sheridan, sometimes I have theses nightmares where I’m too late to save you. I would love to take you out Sheridan but this is for your protection. I love you Sheridan and I’d die before I let any harm come to you.” Luis yelled, his chest rose and fell at a tremendous rate. Sheridan was practically in tears.
Suddenly their was clapping. Luis grabbed Sheridan and pushed her behind him as he and the other agents drew their guns. In the entryway of the sitting room were two tall men in suits who looked like security and an older man who was immaculately dressed. Luis had his gun aimed at the older man’s forehead. Sheridan stuck her head out from behind Luis and was greeted to a shock, she gasped.
“Sheridan? What’s wrong? Do you know these people?” Luis asked.
“Yeah I do.” She said stepping from behind Luis. “You guys can put your guns away.” She said as she walked towards the older man. She stopped a couple of feet in front of the man. “Hello father.” Sheridan greeted, she could hear the gasps from Luis and the agents.
“Hello Princess.” Alistair replied, he had a smile from ear to ear.
