Chapter 9: Protecting Love

Chapter 9:

The next morning Luis awoke to the sun beaming through the window. He groaned and tried to raise his head but he found he couldn't move his neck. "Damnit." Luis said as he turned his body over. He heard Sheridan's door open and then he saw her tan legs. His eyes moved up as he scanned her body. She was wearing a long white silk gown with pink and red lips on it, the woman looked beautiful 24/7. He noticed how the gown hugged her curves, but then he shifted and pain shot through his neck. Luis flinched and Sheridan grinned. "No need to be so happy Sheridan."

"Do you think I could be happy while your in pain? Luis that's mean, I wouldn't do that." She walked towards him and looked down at him. The man was gorgeous especially in the black silk boxers he had on. An idea occurred to her. "You know something Luis, I could just walk out here and go wherever I please." "Like hell you can!" he said angrily trying to raise his neck. "Relax Luis, I'm not going anywhere. I can help if you would like it." "Anything Sheridan." "Be careful Mr. Macho." She then sat down on his back with her legs on both sides of him. She then leaned over his back, her breast barely laying on his back. She leaned and whispered, "you sound a little whiny, almost like a baby." "Like you want to talk about sounding like a baby Sheridan. 'Luis help me, help me'" he said mocking her and laughing a little. "That's not funny." She said poking her fingernail in his neck. "Damn Sheridan, that hurts."

"I'm sorry. Be still I'm going to give you a massage." "You give massages?" Luis said incredulously. She didn't say anything, she just put her hands on his shoulders to loosen the knots in his neck and shoulder. She felt him relax so she knew that it was working. "How does that feel?" She asked practically laying on his back. "Mmmm that feels good Sheridan." Luis was thinking that it felt more than great to have her touching him. "The pain is going away." she smiled and continued to work on his neck for half an hour. "Better?' She asked noticing he was moving his head. "Yeah as a matter it is." He said. He then turned over with that million dollar smile on his face. "Thanks."

"Your welcome." She said looking uncomfortable in the position that they were in. She didn't trust herself to be in that position. Sheridan began blushing. She hoped he didn't notice her very rosy cheeks but that hope went out the window when she saw his smile get bigger. She moved to get off him but he held her hips in place. His grin got wider and bigger. He raised up to whisper in her ear. "Am I making you nervous Sheridan?" Luis asked whispering into her ear. He felt her shiver, which only made him smile more, if that were even possible. Just then the door swung open; Pilar and Ethan stood in the doorway. Sheridan snapped her head around to see her nephew and the woman who was like a second mother to her.

"Oh God." she said climbing off Luis' lap. She looked at the two of them and knew she needed to set them straight. "This is not what it looks like." "It's none of our business your two grown adults." Pilar said calmly. "This is not what your thinking Pilar I was just giving Luis a massage, he insisted on sleeping on the couch instead of in the guest room. It was nothing more." "Luis is this true?" Pilar asked turning to her son who had put on his pants by now. "Yeah momma, Sheridan was just giving me a massage."

"Now that that's cleared up, I'm going to go get ready." She darted to her bedroom without a single word from anyone else. She closed the door behind her and flopped face forward on the bed. Then there was a knock on the door, she just mumbled come in thinking it was Ethan. "So why aren't you in New York?" she asked lifting her face from her pillow. "Because I'm busy protecting one Miss Sheridan Crane." Sheridan's eyes flew open and she quickly turned over. "I thought you were Ethan." "I can see that, I thought you were getting ready. "I'm still a little tired so I thought I'd go back to sleep. "Alright I'm going to get in the shower." Just the thought of him in the shower was too much she pulled the covers up above her head and tried to put it out of her mind.

"Sheridan your acting a little strange today. Are you okay?" "I'm not acting strange, if I am it must be the lack of sleep." She said peeking her head from underneath the covers. Luis just chuckled at the sight of her. "Is there something funny that you want to share Luis?" "Yeah I was thinking about how cute you looked like that." Sheridan slid the cover over her face to hide the blush she now had on it, the man was always making her blush. "Thanks." she mumbled from under the covers. With that he left to take a shower. Sheridan got out of bed to get something to drink when the phone rang. "Hello." "Hey Sheridan, it's Gwen. How did the dress fitting go?" "It went great. Gwen when do you plan on returning because I could really use someone to talk to."

"Didn't Ethan tell you? I'm at the main house now." "Thank goodness, I really need to talk to you about..." Just then Luis came walking in with only a towel on and wet hair. Sheridan almost dropped the phone. "Sheridan..Sheridan." Gwen repeated over through the phone. "Huh?" Sheridan said getting back to Gwen. "Oh I know what this is about, it's about one of Harmony's finest. Ethan told me about him guarding you and living with you." "I'm not going over it on the phone. I'll see you in a little while, hey can you come down to the cottage?" "Sure see you in a little while." Gwen hung up to get ready as Sheridan did the same. She passed Luis in the hall but said nothing to him she just walked to the bathroom to shower.

Thirty minutes later she heard Luis announce that Gwen was there. "I'll be out in a minute Gwen." She yelled from her bedroom. Sheridan walked out a few minutes later. "I'm so glad to see you." Sheridan and Gwen hugged. "I heard Blake Mallory was here last night." "Yeah he was here and told everything he could tell about me in front of Luis and Hank." Luis' grin returned and it certainly looked like it was there to stay, until Gwen said what she said next. "Wasn't he the guy who your father wanted you to marry?" Gwen asked happily. The smile on Luis' face disappeared completely. "Uhh...yeah but it was only a business deal to him. As for Blake and I we fought it all the way, I mean I love Blake but I'm not in love with him and I'm sure he feels the same way about me. Something that I've come to realize after all these years is that I could of spared myself alot of heartache if I had married him."

"Sheridan you'll find someone, before you know it you'll be at the alter." "maybe, oh I didn't call you over here to talk about my past." "Oh I remember why you called me over here. Too much to handle Sheridan?" Gwen asked laughing. "Your not funny Gwen." She said snapping. A look of surprise registered across Gwen's face, Sheridan knew she went a little to far. "I'm sorry Gwen." She looked over at Luis, she knew he wanted to know what they were talking about. She told Gwen she had to show her a dress so Gwen followed her into her bedroom where Sheridan closed the door.

"He's driving you crazy isn't he?" Gwen asked smiling. "Oh yeah. I've had so many dreams about the man I don't even get a decent night's sleep, I wake up tired from the dreams. I have to get away from him. "Maybe you should do something about it Sheridan." Gwen suggested. "What are you talking about Gwen?" "I mean get him out of your system and sleep with him." she said smiling. "Gwen!" she said shocked. "I can't believe what just came out of your mouth." "Oh come on Sheridan, like you haven't thought about it." Sheridan just sat there slack jawed as Gwen checked her watch. "Sheridan I have to go, I promised Ethan I would meet him." Gwen began walking to the front door when Sheridan snapped back to her senses. "Oh no, you can't say something like that and leave."

"What's so difficult about it Sheridan? Anytime you dream about a making love to man everynight your lusting after him." Sheridan's mouth dropped open. Gwen satisfied with herself told Sheridan she had to go and left. Luis came in from the kitchen and saw Sheridan standing near the door in a trance like state. he walked up to her as she turned around and smacked into him. Her hands landed on his chest as she looked up quickly then looked back down at his chest and slowly licked her lips. She began to slide her hands down his chest when she got a grip on reality again. She backed up from him and walked to her room leaving Luis confused.

She got to her room and wanted to kick herself for almost giving into lust. Damn she needed to get out of the house. Her prayers were answered when Ivy knocked at her bedroom door. Sheridan let Ivy come in as Ivy told Sheridan about the Seascape 4th of July celebration. Sheridan jumped at the chance to go and knew that luis wouldn't be pleased but she didn't give a damn. Ivy then put her over the edge when she said that julian would not be attending. Sheridan went straight for her closet and pulled out a dress. She asked Ivy to tell Luis about the celebration, she was sure Luis wouldn't yell at Ivy. Sheridan locked the door as Ivy left. She heard Ivy talking to Luis and she was right, he didn't lose it with Ivy. She then heard the front door open and close and then she heard Luis walking towards her door.

"Sheridan, Sheridan, open the door." he said knocking on the door. Sheridan laid down on the bed and pretended to be asleep as she knew he would come in through the other door. Sure enough he came in a few minutes later, she was facing away from him. He sat down on the bed beside her and looked at her angelic face. "I know your not sleeping Sheridan." he said as he looked down at her. She opened her eyes and rolled over on her back only to be staring into his eyes. She knew he was already set to tell her she couldn't go.

"Please Luis, I'm going to go crazy in this cottage if I don't get out of here, please luis." she said pleading her case and batting her eyelashes to add effect to her argument. She was getting to him and he didn't like it one bit. "Sheridan I'm sorry but no, you can't go, you'll be a walking target." At the mention of her not being able to go Sheridan got angry. "What the hell do you mean I can't go. Don't tell me what to do." She yelled rolling out of the bed to her feet. 'Here we go again.' Luis thought. "Sheridan why can't you understand that your in danger, all I want to do is keep you safe but you've fought me every step of the way.

What do I have to do to convince you?" Luis said angrily and desperately. "I'll make you a deal, if you let me go tonight I won't give you anymore trouble while your my bodyguard. Luis please, you'll be coming along, I won't give you any trouble." Luis groaned. He knew he shouldn't but he couldn't say no to her at the moment. "You promise?" he asked. He watched a smile light her beautiful face up and he too had to smile. "Yes, I promise I won't try anything." She said happily. "I'm going to get dressed now because I'm assuming you'll have to go home to change." "Excuse me." "Luis it's black tie."

"I changed my mind." He watched as Sheridan's face fell. "Luis come on, we made a deal." She said looking like she was about to cry. "Okay, okay." he shut the door so she could get dressed. A while later she came out of her room. Luis was busy reading the paper and didn't notice her. "A-hem." she said annoyed that he hadn't looked up yet." He snapped his head up to look up at her, she always took his breath away. "I'm ready." she said satisfied with the look on his face she had on a black glittering slipdress with a low cowl back. Luis got up and almost fell out when he saw the back of her dress. She was driving him crazy in more than one way. He drove her car to his house so he could get ready. It didn't take long for him to come downstairs, jacket and tie in hand.

"Have you seen mama or Theresa. I need some help with my tie." "No I haven't but I'll tie for you." "Thanks." He handed her the tie but didn't move. "Come on Luis, I don't bite." She said smiling but thinking 'I just might.' He went to her smiling as she went to wrap her arms around his neck. She stepped a little closer and could smell his cologne. She stepped back to straighten it out. This time he noticed her perfume. "You smell good," he said seductively. Just the sound of his voice at the moment was enough to heat her blood. She raised her head to look at him and got trapped in his brown eyes.

"Thanks." she said breathlessly. Her eyes moved from his eyes to his lips. She looked back up into his eyes and saw a new look in them. The look made her want to kiss him even more, yet she didn't know what it was. His lips began to move down towards her lips, until they heard Theresa and Whitney come in laughing. Sheridan jumped back as the realization of what she was about to do practically slapped her in the face. Theresa and Whitney walked in as Sheridan was composing herself. "Hey guys." Theresa and Whitney said happily. Luis gave Theresa a hug and said hi to Whitney. Sheridan as well said hi to the girls. "Oh man I forgot my watch, I'll be back."

"Sheridan I love your dress." Theresa said eyeing the dress. "Thanks." she said turning around to pick up her purse. "Your showing alot there, I love it. Where did you..." Just then Luis walked back downstairs. "Don't even think about it Theresa. Sheridan we should get going." "Okay." She said turning around to face him. A wide grin spread across her face. "I forgot how good you look in a tux, come on." With that they said goodbye and left.
