Beside You
The music had begun to drift through the church. The organ pipes played the sweet melody of the Wedding March. The beautiful bride didn’t have her father here to walk her down the aisle. She didn’t mind at all, this was the happiest day of her life and nothing could spoil it. She walked slowly and everyone around her was on there feet starring at the beauty she radiated. Her wedding gown fit her life a glove, highlighting her perfect figure. The gown was made of chiffon and silk, and decorated with pearl beads along the sides and collars. Her veil had a crown of diamonds and her beautiful blond hair was pinned up and flowers adorned her.
Time seemed to stop as she quickly approached her soon husband to be. He looked so handsome in his tux and he was smiling at her. She looked around at the guests who had attended the most important day of her life. She had always dreamed of this day and never though it would happen. She reached him and he gently kissed her hand, his lips brushing her knuckles. She smiled at him and when their eyes locked it seemed like no one else was in the room. Father Lonigan began the ceremony and they the trance they were in was broken. They quickly remembered where they were and turned to face the priest.
“We are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. If anyone here objects to this marriage, may they speak now or forever hold their peace.”
The room became silent and no one responded. Moments later, after both the bride and groom had recited their vows, most of the guests were in tears and not a person in the room, was not blind to the love these two displayed for each other. Father Lonigan said
“May we have the rings” the groom took the ring for his best man, and gently grabbed his bride’s trembling hand. He whispered in her ear “I love you” and she instantly seemed to be more relaxed.
“Now repeat after me. With this ring I thee wed.” And the groom recited the words to his lovely bride, and vice versa. And as the ceremony came to a close, Father Lonigan said,
“I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss the bride.” He grabbed his wife and pulled her in for a passionate kiss. Their tongues dueled as the kiss became more passionate, but they quickly remembered where they were. They would have plenty of time to get better acquainted on their honeymoon. He reluctantly pulled away from his blushing bride, and a disappointing moan escaped her lips. He squeezed her hand and she instantly gave him one of her memorable smiles. They held hands and faced all the guests that were now on their feet.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to Mr. & Mrs. Lopez-Fitzgerald”
Now everyone cheered and clapped as the newlyweds walked down the aisle, followed by the bridesmaids and ushers.
The newlyweds walked hand in hand towards the church doors, which were wide open. He leaned over and gave his wife a sweet peck on the cheek and then walked outside. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and their wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It seemed like after all they had been through together, God was blessing their union in marriage.
Later that day, everyone had gathered at the wedding reception and waited for the couple to dance their first dance together as man and wife. Suddenly, the D.J. announced that it was time for the bride and groom to share their first dance as husband and wife. He grabbed his wife’s hand and walked her to the dance floor. As the music began to blare through the speakers, the couple on the dance floor became so immersed with one another; they hardly noticed that everyone around them was watching.
* Through out the passing years, As all the world seems ever changing. We’ve shared our smiles and tears, With love and life that’s so far ranging. And after all is said and done, I’ll be the one beside you. I’ll be your love and loyal friend, Until the end, Beside you.
Each flowers bends with time, Each leaf descends with every autumn. But you and I will find, Our love won’t die or be forgotten. And after all is said and done, I’ll be the one beside you. I’ll be your love and loyal friend, Until the end, Beside you. When you and I are gray, When youth is gone and life is dimming. I promise that I’ll stay. Beside you like we were beginning. And after all is said and done, I’ll be the one beside you. I’ll be your love and loyal friend, Until the end, Beside you.*
*Tal Bachman’s song entitled: Beside You*
As Miguel and Charity danced their first dance as husband and wife, Sheridan and Luis slowly turned their attention to one another. As their eyes locked, they forgot that anyway was in the room and Sheridan turned to Luis and said.
“I’m glad they finally got married. I was beginning to think, he would never ask her.” Sheridan said.
“But he did and Miguel’s beside Charity, just like I’ll always be beside you.” Luis responded as he clutched his wife’s hand.
