It’s 3 a.m. and I should be sleeping. I can’t though. Not when the most beautiful woman is lying next to me, sound asleep. I still don’t believe it. We were married tonight. She’s my wife, she’s finally my wife. And I’m her husband. I just want to scream it from the rooftops, but I just sit and watch her sleep.
I can feel Luis watching me. How can I sleep when he is staring at me? I don’t open my eyes just yet; I just want to savor the moment. After everything we’ve been through, we finally did it. We can finally begin our lives together; as husband and wife. I thought Luis was crazy when he showed up on my doorstep asking me to run away and get married tonight. Sure we were planning a wedding, but to abandon all of our plans. I was going to say no.
I can’t believe I showed up on Sher’s doorstep tonight asking her to run away and elope. I know how hard she has been working on the wedding plans. I couldn’t help it though, not after the nightmare I had. It was happening again, we were being torn apart, and there was no way I could handle that. We have fought too hard to be separated again. We deserve a little happiness.
When Luis told me about his nightmare how could I refuse? I couldn’t bare it if anything happened to us again. We are still going to have our wedding, but tonight was just for us. The ceremony was beautiful. I have never loved him more than I did at that moment, when we said ‘I Do’. That has to be the best moment of my life. Although something just might top it.
Seeing Sher walk down the aisle, was the most breathtaking sight I have ever witnessed. She was absolutely gorgeous. It was a simple candlelit ceremony, but none of that mattered. Just hearing the Justice of the Peace pronounce us husband and wife was enough for me. I am complete with Sheridan in my life, and without her I can’t breathe. And someday soon we will start our family, and share our love with them.
I don’t know how I have managed to keep Luis in the dark for so long. It’s been impossible to keep this from him, but I was going to wait until the wedding. Since we were married tonight, I think it’s as good a time as any. Luis will be so excited; I know how long he has waited for this moment. I roll over only to find myself lost in his soft brown eyes that are so full of love.
Sheridan’s crystal blue gaze meets my own, and I feel myself become short of breathe. She always manages to render me speechless, even with just a look. The love I see in them blows me away. She places her hand on my cheek and opens her mouth to speak the words that will change my life forever.
“Hello, Daddy” I say to Luis. His eyes grow wide with shock, then as the realization sets in he smiles. My eyes fill with tears as I see the look of happiness on his face. I know how much he wants to be a father and he is going to be the best father in the world. It still amazes me when I think that we created this life together. Our little baby. He or she will be showered with so much love; we will both make sure of that.
“Hello, Daddy” I don’t believe what I am hearing. Sheridan’s pregnant. We are going to have a baby! This is the best news I could have received. We are having a baby! I am ecstatic! I’m going to be a father. It’s all I have ever wanted. As I watch Sher’s eyes fill with tears, I can feel them welling up in mine. I let out a happy laugh as I give her a kiss. We are going to have a family. I didn’t think this night could get any better, but I was wrong. This really is the best night of my life.
