Sheridan there is one thing you can not do better than me” Luis
grinned pacing around the
living room of the cottage. “Oh bull crap Luis! I could kick your butt
any day of the Week!”
Sheridan grinned back and sat on the couch. She knew if she played Luis
right he would let her
out of that blasted cottage, trying to prove her wrong. “Oh suuuure!
You couldn’t catch a fish if
your life depended on it!” He sat next to her. “Wanna bet?” she lowered
her voice and raised an
eyebrow. “Fine! Tomorrow we’ll go fishing! But you better be able to
put your tango where
your mouth is” he said.
“What?” she asked, wondering what he meant.
“You said ‘Wanna bet’
and as a matter of fact I do! Whoever catches more fish wins. Since
that’s me, you’ll owe me
one Tango, redeemable when ever I want it.” He almost laughed at the
look on her face. “And
since I’ll be the one winning, you’ll owe me....”as she was thinking
she noticed He was staring at
her with a shuddered look full of desire, his eyes smoky. She tilted
her head up and scooted
closer to him on the couch. She closed her eyes and soon they were
kissing ferociously her hands
on his face, eyes closed, tongues tapping and rubbing. He moved her
closer to him, placing her
in his lap, where she could feel him wanting her.
They broke for air
and she never opened her
eyes. This time there was no turning away. This time there was no music
to blame. This time he
initiated the kiss, pushing her into the couch and laying on top of
her. They were rolling on each
other, her leg around his back , digging her into him. Once the kiss
was broken there were a
series of little kisses and another long one. Finally they stopped and
she looked up at him. “You
owe me more of the same...when I win!” she added with a glint to her
eyes which had darkened
considerably. She slid her hands up and down his sides and he kissed
her again lightly before
getting off of her.
“Well, be up at 4:00 am! We’re leaving at 4:30!” he
practically sang, she
wasn’t sure if it was because of the kiss or because he thought he
would beat her at his own
game. “And NO perfume, makeup, or hair spray. You’ll attract buuugs”
She shuddered visibly.
“I hate bugs Luis!” she whined. He walked behind her unnoticed and
crawled his fingers up her
bare arms, for the effect of bugs crawling, and she jumped. “Ooh! That
was mean Luis!” And
she went to her bedroom and slammed the door pretending to be mad.
She pulled off her shirt and lay back onto her bed letting the breeze
from the window cool her
body, overheated from having Luis on top of her kissing her like that.
She closed her eyes
tightly, bringing back the memory only seconds old of frenching Luis
like that, of being crushed
beneath his perfect body, of tasting his lips, of running her hands all
over that firm chest. She
rolled over onto her back and stretched out, eyes still shut, still in
the living room moments ago.
In that serene state she didn’t hear Luis come in, an apology for the
bug thing ready, and stop
short to admire her, bra, skirt and skin. He caressed her with his
eyes, sliding them over every
contour visible and letting his imagination and memory fill in the
rest. He fought the urge to
reach out and touch her.
His fingers itched at the thought, but before
he could make a move, of
leave, she at up and looked straight up at him, wide eyed. She noticed
the hooded look in his
eyes and recognized it so she used the situation to her advantage. She
no longer cared about the
using, because she didn’t want his heart...as far as she was concerned
it meant nothing anymore,
but his body. Whoa! It was purely physical for her at that moment. “I
was getting ready for bed
Luis...” she unhooked her bra and let it slide to the floor, and he
reached out for her. He grabbed
her breast and rubbed it, looking like he’d never seen a woman before.
She closed her eyes
against the sensation his hands were bringing, then he slid his hands
down her stomach and
around her waist.
He held her bare chest close to his body and licked
her neck. She kissed his ear
and moved down his neck, sucking on it, loving every minute of their
foul play.
“Officer” she whispered. “I know you like to color inside the lines but
this could get fun” she
winked and pulled back. He reached for his belt, but she put her hand
on top of his and stopped
him. She slid her hand down over his erection and left it there. “When,
Luis, you learn to paint
outside the barriers” She winked and turned him to the door.
“Goodnight. See you bright and
early” She sighed and changed into a nightgown and crawled under the
sheets where she
dreamed of him all night long.
At 3:45 am Sheridan’s alarm went off and she moaned. It was entirely
too early...she got up and
got dressed putting her bright pink string bikini under dark jean
shorts and a tee shirt with a
Japanese pattern and a white hoodie with an angel on the back. She put
her white tennis shoes on
without socks and just running her hand through her blonde curls. She
walked in and saw Luis
packing a tackle box with glittering rubber worms. “Morning” she said,
swallowing the piece of
Aqua-fresh Dental Gum she had been chewing. “Hey you” he got up and
walked over to her,
kissing her face and her mouth, running his hands in her hair and
nuzzling her neck. He looked
back and smiled.
“What was that for?” she queried. “Making sure you
didn’t wear makeup or
hair gook and especially perfume” he said. “Did I pass?” she asked
innocently, knowing she did.
She had even used unscented Shampoo. “Oh yeah...I like my invasive
testing methods.” She
turned and opened the door. “After you...it’s 4:16, you’re a minute
late.” She winked as he
picked up their poles and a tackle box. She couldn’t help but notice
how good he looked in his
green khaki shorts and navy blue tee shirt, early morning pink still in
his face. She sat in the
passenger side of the car as he settled everything in the back of his
jeep. “You keep me on my
toes Sheri...I think that’s why... never mind.”
He got inside the jeep
and realized he’d been
talking to himself, she was asleep leaning on the window. He turned the
car on and drove for an
hour when she woke up. She blinked and the first thing she did was
complain...he was listening
to a song she hated up as loud as he could without waking her, but she
was a deep sleeper so that
was WAY loud...she rolled her eyes before letting him know she was
awake.

“Luis I hate this! Every other word is “F” Sheridan complained over his
sound system. “It’s
degrading, talking about ho’s and I HATE IT!” she yelled. He turned it
off. “Better?” he didn’t
want to make her mad.... “Yes!” He liked his rap loud and his women
louder.....so why did he
just turn that off?? Sheridan turned the radio back on and switched
stations.

Luis almost fussed at her for listening to whiney music like that but
as he looked over she was
straining her voice to sing like the girl on the radio he smiled. She
looked 16 then and he noticed
a flicker of sadness as she belted out the chorus about loving and
learning. Sweet 16...he
wondered what her life was like. As the song ended Sheridan stared
ahead, taking in their
surroundings. “This is amazing” she smiled and leaned her head back
against the top of her seat.
“Wait till you see where we’re fishing...me and Hank found it one
summer, he used to take his
dates there....but I decided to take the people I loved with all my
heart.”
“Oh” Sheridan noticed
they were pulling into a clearing and then a grove of trees. He got out
of the car and went around
to open her door. She started to step out of the car but he put his
hands on her sides and lowered
her to her feet in front of him. “Oh” she gasped, taken by the beauty
of the shimmering dew on
every limb and leaf, blade and petal, and the sun dancing on the water,
reflecting onto the
smooth rocks. She walked to a tree and noticed Hank had carved his
initials and Luis’s side by
side. Beneath Hanks there were many others, scratched out and some re
written. “Whoa!”
Sheridan laughed a little.
“Hank was BUSY!!” Luis just laughed. She had
NO idea what a
womanizer Hank had been....he watched the different looks cross her
face as she looked at his
initials in the tree and scanned it’s trunk for any others...”Luis, why
isn’t there any names here
under your’s?” Sheridan was curious. He had only moments ago told her
he only took people he
loved there....but.....there were no names there. “You’re the only one”
he picked up a pole and
walked to the waters edge. “Luis, do you mean that?” He looked at her
and brought his arms out,
beckoning her into a hug. “With all my heart” he whispered into her
ear. She felt something in
his pocket and reached it out. She gasped when she hit a mechanism
causing a switchblade knife
to open.
“Oh my god! Luis what’s this for?” she was a little scared.
Wordlessly he went to the
tree and carved S.C. underneath his name. As a tear trickled down her
face he brought his lips to
hers and kissed her. A kiss filled with passion and promise, hope and
freedom.
“I fell for you Sheridan.” he said holding her close. “How?” she asked,
skeptical in spite of
herself. “I don’t know...” She picked up the tackle box and began to
thumb through it’s contents.
“Hook....Line...Sinker” she mumbled the names of the things she could
identify. Luis wrapped
his arms around her waist and began to kiss her neck “I love you Luis”
she sighed contentedly. “I
love you too Sheridan” he replied bringing her closer. “I fell for you
too, you know.” She smiled,
looking into his velvet eyes. “Really?” he asked. “Yeah...hook, line
and sinker” The kissed
again, laying in the grass, and knowing whether Sheridan caught more
fish or not, she would be
getting her part of the wager.
