Chapter 1:

“Buddy it’s time to get you out of this town!” Sam Bennett announced proudly hovering over the paper work Luis was doing “What? Are you crazy man? I am NOT moving!” Luis automatically went defensive. “Who said anything about moving? I have assigned you to a convention in LA, and you’ll be joined with 2 officers from around here...” Sam was glad his force was chosen to be represented on this little project and even happier to send his best officer. Plus, since Sheridan’s family moved her out of the town ‘for her own good’ in the middle of the night without so much as a goodbye, well, Luis needed the time away. “Sure...what do you mean from around here?” Luis asked...

“Oh, it’s two officers from Boston..” Sam smiled. “Reeealy...” Luis stood up. “When do I go?” Sam raised an eyebrow at Luis’s sudden want to do the assignment. “Tomorrow morning your on this flight to LA and the two Boston officers will have a connecting room with yours” Luis just grabbed the ticket and patted Sam on the back. “Thanks man. You’re always Lookin’ out for me” The blinds rattled and swung as Luis shut the door. Sam shook his head... ‘If only Luis could find her again...his life would be so complete. Damned Crane men’

***In Boston***

“Ladies, here are your tickets to LA and you’ll be sharing a room.” The old gray haired man handed the two women officers their plane tickets and room numbers at the Casa Plaza Hotel and shook each of their hands. “Thank you, sir. You’ll be glad you chose to send us” Tina Alvarez winked at her partner who also stood. Captain Bonnily left and soon after the officers were in their dual apartment laughing at an old joke about how they met. “It still depresses me.” The other officer said, wistfully sitting in the booth of the breakfast nook. “I know, but you have to move on.

The consequences...oh God, the consequences.” Tina shook her head sadly thinking about what a tortured existence her roommate had. “Well, lets think about the convention and our 2 extra days of vacation in the Los Angeles summertime! I mean we will get amazing tans and the shopping is great plus it is an asset to both of our careers. I don’t want to talk about that anymore” Tina’s friend said, referring to the conversation earlier. “Yeah, me either. It broke my heart the first time anyway. So are you finished packing?” Tina was glad to be relieved of the subject.

“Yes! And Im ready for tomorrow to begin” She said, going into her bed room and turning on the CD player. Pretty soon Tina heard the song and then the sniffling and then silence. She bit her lip and went to her own sleeping quarters, excited about their trip.

***Next Day***

Luis stretched out his arms and dressed for the flight to California. He grabbed his bag and kissed his mothers cheek and set out for the airport with a determination to enjoy his trip, even if all but 2 days were business. In Boston the two women were doing the same thing, as well as scarfing down croissants their elderly neighbor had brought over.

***Los Angeles CA***

Tina looked around her room and sighed, she and he partner never got the best...there was a connecting room door beside the television which was settled on-top a pole on legs. She twisted the knob just as her partner entered the room. “Tina!! What are you doing?” She gasped, but laughing at the same time. “I just wanted to see what the other officer’s room was like...he’s supposedly single and incredible hunky...not to mention that he’s not sharing his room. They’re force was understaffed.” Tina smiled and pushed the door in all the way, stepping into a room that did a complete 180o from hers. “Whoa!” The other officer gasped. “Wow! See how much better some officers get it” Tina said jokingly, reentering her own room.

They both put on bikini’s for the officer’s acquaintance pool party downstairs. Luis arrived in LA to sunny weathers and a really nice room, much too big for one person, but then again there would have probably been two officers if the Harmony P.D. wasn’t understaffed. Luis unfolded his itinerary and looked at what was on the agenda. ‘Meet Your fellow Officers 6:15 p.m. POOL party’ He rolled his eyes and shoved his suitcase into the closet, after changing clothes. Loud music blasted from the pool, and Luis laughed bittersweet as a song with a tango beat came on. He put his towel on a chair and did a dive into the deep end. Tina and her partner laid their towels on chairs and walked over to the hot tub where another female officer was sitting.

“Hi ladies!” Tina greeted cheerfully. “Hi!” An Asian lady with jet black hair and chestnut eyes replied. “Where are you two from?” She asked. “We’re both from Boston, I’ve been here a few times, I’m Tina. And my partner just made the force a couple years ago and this is her first convention.” Tina bubbled, obviously feeling very much at home. Her partner however was the opposite. She was nervous. She twisted her long honey brown hair around her fingers. “What’s your name honey?” The lady asked. “Oh...Genevieve Williams” She replied. “Well, since you’re new, Tina and I can show you the ropes.” Tina nodded vigorously.

“There are the greatest looking men here every year, oh my lord! And they’re all looking for some tight, young officer lady to put the moves on...” Bea, the Asian lady went on. Sheridan looked at her feet. “Well” Genevieve said staring wistfully at the tree tops “I doubt any of them will be interested in me, and even if they were...” she trailed off tears forming in her eyes. “...the man I love is gone forever...and I...miss...him...his touch...I..” she broke into sobs, wracking her lean body. She turned and ran across the pool deck and dove into the water swimming the length of the pool and getting out on the other side. She quickened her step across the deck when she smacked into a man.

“I am so sorry” she whimpered, holding her wrist that she had crushed between their chests. Only then did she realize who she had bumped into. “Oh my GOD!” she screamed at the top of her lungs, sheerly from shock, mostly from joy. “Sheridan....” Luis stared into her eyes. She had disappeared so very many years ago, without a trace and she was here, at a police benefit...or on vacation, that had to be it. He slid his hands down her slick wet sides. “You grew your hair out, and dyed it.” He said lifting a hand up to run through her tresses. “You look the same” she said tearfully. “Why did you leave me?” he asked angrily.

The scene they created cause most of the officers, including Tina and Bea, to encircle them. “I had to” she said. “No you didn’t! Something was going on!” He yelled. “I didn’t have a choice, don’t you GET THAT?” She matched his voice. “You just walked out like nothing happened, and didn’t call. You don’t give a damn about anyone” he hollered. “I do to you have no room to judge me!” she screamed back. “Oh is that supposed to imply that I don’t care about people?” He screamed, angrier at the second she started arguing. “You son of a...”

They both rushed into each others arms for a sexy kiss, neither holding anything back. He had his hands on her bottom, pulling her to him and she had her hands everywhere, his butt, his hair his face. Their tongues dueled and the passion was soaring. They were kissing like they were naked, just the desire alone gave off the feeling that those who were watching it were looking at a hot bedroom scene from two way glass. The kiss finally ended. “I missed you” they both whispered simultaneously and walked hand interlocked in hand.
