Prologue: Some Things Will Never Change
Prologue:
Sheridan woke up to find herself nestled in Luis's arms. She looked up at
Luis, who was still sleeping peacefully and smiled. She couldn't believe what
was happening. All of her hopes and dreams were coming true. She had wanted
to marry Luis for so long now and he had finally proposed to her. Not only
that, but he bought a beautiful house for them to live in. She was touched at
how caring he was. She looked at the beautiful engagement ring on her finger
and fiddled around with it. She couldn't wait to be Luis's wife. She loved
him so much.
Suddenly, Luis's hand grabbed onto Sheridan's. She looked up at him, a
little startled. He just smiled and brought her hand up to his face and then
kissed it. Sheridan smiled back and leaned in for a short, but sweet kiss.
She pulled back about an inch. "Good morning," she smiled before kissing him
gently again. "Mmmm... good morning," Luis said. Sheridan rested her head on
his chest. "I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe we're going to
get married. I must be dreaming." "Believe it, Sheridan. You're not dreaming.
I love you and someday, we will be married," Luis said. Sheridan sighed
deeply. She felt like she was in heaven. Nothing could ruin this moment. She
thought about how they had always been able to overcome the obstacles they
faced. Even with Julian and her father
Sheridan smiled faded as she remembered what Jullian did to keep them
apart. He had told Luis to stay away from her or else. he knew that her
family was cruel, but she actually thought that they had at least a little
bit of love for her. But she was wrong... they didn't care about her... not
at all. A tear trickled down her cheek and it dropped on Luis's chest. Luis
felt the wet drop on his chest and he looked at Sheridan to see that she was
crying.
"Sheridan... what's wrong?" Luis asked as he sat up and looked into her
eyes. Sheridan looked at Luis. She didn't want him to know that she was sad
right now. He had just proposed to her and it was supposed to be the happiest
day of their lives. She didn't want to ruin it for Luis. "I'm fine... Luis. I
just... I'm so happy that I'm gonna be your's forever." Luis smiled and
hugged her closely, "Oh Sheridan. I love you so much. And I promise... that
nothing will come between us ever." Sheridan began to daze off as she
remembered 'that night.' How could she ever tell Luis about that? She
snapped back into reality and pulled back from him. She smiled and said, "I'm
gonna go take a shower." "Do you mind if I join you?" Luis said seductively.
Sheridan giggled, "As much as I would love that, why don't you go make us
some breakfast. I'm starving." Luis smiled and said, "Anything for you,
sweetheart," before kissing her fully on the lips. Then, he got out of bed,
and went to the kitchen to make breakfast. Sheridan got out of bed and went
to take a shower.
**15 MINUTES LATER**
Sheridan dried her hair with a towel as she walked down the stairs and
into the living room. She looked through the doorway and into the kitchen,
where Luis was still making breakfast, unaware that she was downstairs. She
sighed deeply and sat down on the couch. She kept thinking about how Jullian
told Luis that he would hurt her if he continued to see her. She was really
scared that she would end up dying. She didn't want to end her life, she had
so much going for her, and she didn't want to put Luis in any pain. It was
like her own brother and father were stalking her.
Luis emerged from the kitchen and saw Sheridan sitting on the couch. He
smiled at first, but then saw that she was starring out the window with a sad
look on her face. A tear trickled down her face and he was convinced.
"Sheridan..." He said as he ran to her side.He took her hands and looked into
her eyes, "You're crying... what's wrong?" Sheridan forced out a smile and
said, "Luis... I'm fine. Nothing's wrong." "No... something is wrong. I can
see it." Luis said. Sheridan smiled faded and she looked at the floor when
she knew that there was no way to get around this. "Tell me Sheridan. What's
gotten you so upset?" Luis asked with concern.
Sheridan took a deep breath and said, "It's just that... I've been
remembering what you said... about Jullian hurting me if you continued to be
with me... and I... just got scared." "So that's what this is all about,"
Luis said as he brushed a tear from her face, "You're afraid that Jullian or
Alistair will hurt you?" Sheridan nodded and said, "I'm sorry Luis. I can't
help but to think about it." "Hey, hey. Don't be... come here." Luis said as
he pulled her close to him. He hugged her head to his shoulder and muttered,
"I won't let anything happen to you. I promise. No one will hurt you again.
I'll always be there for you... and nothing can keep us apart." Tears started
to come down Sheridan's face, but they were tears of happiness. Luis could
always make her feel better. He gave her hope. "Oh Luis. I love you so much.
You're right. Nothing can ever come between our love again." "But it's not
going to be easy. They aren't gonna accept to loosing right away. I guess
that somethings will never change." Luis said. Sheridan smiled and said, "But
no matter what happens... true love will win out in the end..."
